Hey there, welcome to my channel😃. My name is Lidiya. I am an international medical graduate from Ethiopia, currently doing residency in USA. My journey to residency was not easy and am sure many IMGs have similar stories. All glory to God! I matched to the speciality and programs of my choice. One of the reasons the journey was stressful was because information wasn’t readily available . With this channel, my goal is to make it easier for at least one person. If you are reading this, please keep up the good job and preserve. God bless you!
Thank you, Dr. Lidiya....now $11k...will not buy even a car....it worth trying. Benegerachin lay Ethiopia radiologist negn..usmle kalefku...temarish lihon enchilalehu ena adera
Hi. Congratulations on your amazing success. I was wondering if I can ask a quick question? I'm a UK doctor, and am considering the steps. However, the work-life balance is an extremely important concern for me. Would you be able to shine some light on the average weekly hours of a DR resident, and a radiology fellow afterwards? Also, would you be able to clarify whether there are opportunities for Less than full time work? Moreover, how many days of annual leave do residents and fellows get? I'd be forever indebted if you can help.
Do you have to arrange for the intern/transitional year by yourself or does the hospital providing radiology residency help with arrangements for the intern year?
Am a final year medical student..I would love to know, are there agencies that give loans that can fund the USMLE process while you pay gradually when you get matched and start earning? Or, are there other alternatives for funding to make the burden lighter? I would really appreciate your response, thanks... as I think it will take me many years to save upto that amount in Nigeria
Thank you dr.lidya ,,i saw u on tena weg and now on ur RU-vid and so informative. I'm gonna take step2 in a few month and aspiring to match on 2024.how can i reach out for u?thank you
It differs from year to year, the best way is to check the ERAS time line . For this year this is the timeline … u can use the link below students-residents.aamc.org/eras-tools-and-worksheets-residency-applicants/eras-2023-residency-timeline
Hi Lidiya, thank you for making this video. Is it essential for an IMG to apply following ECFMG certification or they can apply with step 1 results (Pass) and then update CK scores later? Also, can you tell me what kind of LORs you used for your prelim programs and for radiology programs? Were they all Radiology LORs for Radiology applications or did you use IM/Surgery letters as well?
Hi dr i appreciate all your effort so thnx a lot. Iwould like to know how long did it take for you since obtaining your diploma in your country till matching.
It is really great having such kinds of content out there in short , precise explanatory videos. They are very helpful. We really appreciate it and good job Dr.
@@lidiyabiltibomd6433 thanks doc. I am in the process of coming to Canada on a pr(as a refugee) I intend to take USMLE. Is the statement of need easy to obtain?
For people, this is the minimum, I mean the minimum, because since people apply to more programs, also note that reading materials u world, first aid, etc. weren't factored into this discussion.
You are right, I did not include those because most of my friends didn’t have online resources like u world. They used an off line copy. Same thing with first aid, some people use soft copy…. That is why I didn’t include these costs
Hi congratulations on the match, I have a question as aspiring DR applicant When applying for the internship year ( prelim medicine/ surgery, TY) Do I need to prepare a separate CV and PS specific for the prelim ? Or is it ok to use my radiology CV and personal statement?
It is okay to use your radiology PS and LORs for Preliminary and TY program applications. You have to use a different P.S if u are applying to a different speciality like internal medicine, family medicine etc
