I’m going to Mauna Lani beach club in Kona Hawaii on the big island on march 24-April 25 and was wondering if your down to go fishing with me on march 25 at Mauna Lani beach club or even spear fishing there

@@judybootycatfishing both work excelent top mostly for the paligics like travally an needle fish ect an bottom for like goat fish an so on best bait is octopus or shrimp an can look up videos on youtube look up shaka fishing they have tips on rigs an things on there channel
When I visit Hawaii, I ALWAYS grab my rod, mullet bobbers, shrimp, bread, and go and catch some triggerfish near the shore. It’s so much fun! I need to go to Hawaii again...

@@bigislandanglers yup. You sure are lucky buddy! During the spring and fall I usually go down to the local lake and catch some trout, but it’s nothing compared to Hawaiian fishing. (I was just gonna finish the vid before I subbed)

I’ll be on Big Island Monday near Keahou. Any good recommended spots on this island close by or advice you a can give a lad that’s used to wisconsin fishing for northern pike and bass? Bringing a traveling rod with grubs etc. where should I go to get my fix of excitement 🙂

@@bigislandanglers Not going for anything in particular. Of course a bent pole with 40 pounds on the end would be an excitement but in a sense of just enjoying fishing, want to just be able to catch the species in the area. I have a travel rod with some smaller circle hooks, grubs, and 1-2 oz sinkers packed based on recommendations. I think mainly just looking to catch a bunch. With a chance of always getting lucky on something big.
@@bigislandanglers yep . Going to be whipping with soft plastics(grubs) that’s what I’m bringing for a more hands on approach vs sitting and waiting. Just need the locations to do this successfully. Want to catch some fish man!

@@bigislandanglers yessah, i usually on kalapana side. If you ever want to come out here and toss out I’ll take you to some good spots. I just went that side Sunday caught like 20 po’opa’as and 10 hagis.I notice I catch more variety south side or kalapana

Just recommendation. If catch and release perhaps you can consider knocking down the barb and go barb less and the gloves got to keep 'em on so not spend too much time with fish out of water. The moana kali didn't look too good on release. As for the glove; cut the thumb, index and middle finger off past the first knuckle so you can still handle the reel and line. I also keep my pliers (if I need 'em in on holster pouch / pocket of fanny pack so I no need run back to pack unless I really need something.
