Honestly not bad for 1982. Definitely better than Pong. I could see hanging out with a friend and some snacks and having a good time with this back then.
Actually looks better than this on an old TV. I used to play the heck out of this back in the day. Interesting story: The guy that wrote this game, Bob Polaro, was team buddies with Todd Frye, the man who (in)famously made the Atari 2600 version of Pac-Man. When their team leader presented them with two games to work on, Defender and Pac-Man, Todd Frye let Bob choose which one he wanted to do and he chose Defender because he didn't think Pac-Man would be possible (due to the extreme limitations of the system), leaving Pac-Man up to Todd. The rest is history!
Another great classic! I truly love you channel. Saddens me that you don't get more views. Shared it with some friends. Hoping your channel grows.🥰❣ I appreciate your uploads very much!
This game had a great cabinet and joystick, the lighting was fantastic as well. It’s always been my guess the software guys weren’t quite finished when they launched it. The background doesn’t look complete to me. Game play was good, not great. However it’s fantastic to see it here. 😃
Looked dead accurate to the arcade version. The graphics were always a bit weak I thought. Game play was good. I wonder why it was hard to emulate? Well done!
It was years before I realized player 1 had an ostrich and player 2 has a stork. At least I think it is a stork. Great game, a local Mexican restaurant in the 80s had a Joust cabinet near the register and my brother and I conned my dad into some quarters to play it all the time. What a fun game. “Buzzard bait”
I only saw this game a couple times. I had forgotten about it. Was it a conversion game? Was super rare where I lived in central Ca. I grew up in the arcades from 78-91 I was there all the time. I stopped playing video games mostly in 84-85 and switched to pool.
I discovered this game recently! I could not say if it was a conversion, but the game seems to have been made with the same engine as other williams titles
Another tremendous Williams title. These were pretty rare in the wild. The joystick for this game was very complex. It wasn’t a 4 contact joystick like a Robotron giving 8 directions. It had more contacts as I recall. This game got very very difficult after a few levels. Was a fun game
This was an awesome game. I was never good at it, think the best I could do was get to the third wave. Sinistars voice was ominous and the scream would really throw off your concentration.
One of my favorites as a kid. Loved the dual joysticks. It was real popular, the arcade I went to had three cabinets if I remember right. Had the port on an Atari Lynx years later. It worked really well on that system.
The sounds in this game are amazing. Williams sure had it right. I wasn’t ever any good at Joust, I never put the time into it. Great video & title to publish. Well played too!
I always felt like I could get better at this game. Sink 20 was a good result for me. I saw a few people who played a little better, but I never saw anyone who could play it real good. I’m certain it’s possible, just not many machines around and wasn’t very popular. Is it possible to play forever like Defender? Not sure, always wondered
"Eliminator" was the 2nd game (preceded by "Space Fury") in the SEGA/Gremlin series of vector games. Probably the most interesting thing about this game was the fact that up to 4 players could play simultaneously (there was 2-player machines & 4-player machines). It's possible this was the very first arcade video game to have such a feature. If you can last long enough to blow up the base around 15 times, the base will move around the screen crazy fast. My highest score (so far) on "Eliminator" is 540,100.
@@nickparagaming8305 No, I didn't work for SEGA. When I find a game I really like, I try to learn all I can about it. There's not much on the SEGA/Gremlin vector games. Over the years I've done a lot of digging for any info I could find. It also helps that I was there when these games first came out, so I learned a lot from playing them...a lot! It looks like "ZEKTOR" is the only game in the SEGA/Gremlin vector series you haven't made a video for. I highly recommend it.
"TAC/SCAN" was the 2nd to last vector arcade game by SEGA/Gremlin & just like the other vector games in the series ("SPACE FURY" "ELIMINATOR" "ZEKTOR" "STAR TREK") things start to get very crazy after about 7 to 8 minutes of game play. These games at least allowed you to feel like you got your quarters worth by letting you play fairly stress free for about the first 5 minutes. My highest score (so far) on "TAC/SCAN" is 438,200 & it took a lot of playing & patience to get that high of a score.
Nice thanks for the knowledge! I was not aware of that game before. Its a pretty fun one. Sega made some bangers at the time. They became really big with space harrier and outrun
@@nickparagaming8305 You're welcome. Vector games were always my favorite & the SEGA/Gremlin games were some of the most unique (although I got to admit Atari's "TEMPEST" was pretty unique too). Plus SEGA used a special monitor for there vector games that really made those colored lines bright & shiny. It was almost like watching a neon sign come to life.
Q-Bert is also a impossible game for me. The “not flat” perspective is impossible for me to play. However I love watching all these games. I’m 57, I grew up in the middle of the Golden Age and have a very good long term memory. Thx again!
The honest anwser is that i had a hard time figuring out the game and i didn't knew you could do that! The input on the emulator were complicated for me. Thanks for the tips !
