Thanks for stopping by! I do different gaming content from time to time. My main videos are Oxygen Not Included. I also like to dabble in some Minecraft. I hope you enjoy your stay.
You are welcome. I am still hoping to update the tutorial for the newest version, and now that my recording skills are a bit more refined. I'll update the description when I finally get around to it.
Good video im currently on that modpack, i cant seem to get cobalt i think you need a obsidian pickaxe ive tried different methods using the smelter and such but nothing seems to work
I don't believe you can with carry on. And I know it doesn't help in all of fabric, but you can with create. Not sure off hand of any other mods that allow it, but I'm sure there are others. I don't think you can move them in this pack.
You can replace parts with new ones, but you do not get the parts back. If you have parts that you have not used, some of them can be smelted to regain the materials, but once its on a tool, it is lost if it is replaced.
Yeah, I got you. I have plans to actually make a new tutorial for this as well as several of the fabric mods. I have just finished school for the semester and this was made way back when I was first starting. It is probably going to be one of the first videos I make after graduation because there is definitely a demand for more info about this mod.
It is not my design, but it works very well. I really like this steam chamber version over the one with the mining laser I used in the last playthrough. Hope it works for you too!
a water treatment center sounds great! good to see you solving the problem and moving forward, and one more problem, it will be in the Iron Volcano, there is a lot of water and when it all boils, it will block the eruption of the volcano, the metal volcano and the magma volcano cannot erupt with atmospheric pressure above 150 kg per tile
Yeah, I put in too many temperature shift plates to bring in the ice, because I did the math wrong. I'm watching it to see what happens. So far, the pressures are fine and the volcano is still erupting. I think rather than pump it out, I might just vent the steam exhaust back into storage until the pressure reaches what I want it to be.
One thing i like to do in oni is, if i got a liquid in a pipe, i try to keep it there or in a reservoir. With the output of your bathrooms you dump it in a giant holding tank. Then you gotta pump it back out. I understand if using poluted for oxygen but you have clean water layer on top to stop the free offgasing 02. Saving you effort and electricity if you keep the liquids in.
Eventually I put them in an infinite storage, like in the newest episode that is not quite out yet. So it becomes much more space efficient to store them that way. I mostly do not worry about the energy efficiency, as I just kinda throw power at problems, but in a situation where energy efficiency is very important, only pumping it up once and leaving it in a tank (or in the case of sewer lines from the bathroom, never pumping it and just leaving it in the lines and reservoirs as you said) is definitely the more efficient method.
be careful where you place your bridges. They will transfer heat the same way the electrical joint plates do. When possible don't put them anywhere that they will bridge across tiles. That is why your auto sweepers for you refineries are heating up so much.
I honestly wish they were changed. They had such promise and hope, but turned out into... basically another waste. Not being able to do all tasks - it would be nice to restrict them to specific tasks, like an upgraded Sweepy bot... but then you might argue.. why not just make sweepy... better? (faster in particular, with higher carry capacity) The biobot disappoints me in just about every way. It's cost is rather high, and involves some danger (as the spores, if not properly handled, can infect and spread quickly) yet the reward is a... non recharging, not very good partial 'dupe' ? ... just seems lacking, maybe if it had a special command bar, so that "only biobots can do this" or a station to 'only biobots allowed passed this point' it would work out better, but it still isn't ideal (technically you can put a dupe checkpoint all over to restrict dupes, but that is just.. a lot of material and power when a 'only biobot' check point would be a better option) also they can't dig harder materials.. so they suffer the same as the Rovers... it just feels like a mash of a sweepy and a rover and with no real benefit. I would have rathered they been a "Dupe" that say breathes IN carbon dioxide, and OUT oxygen or something, at similar rates to dupes in/out, and have their own traits and such, giving you a 'advanced dupe' system to work toward. Sure, then they need 'food' of some sort, which might include more Zombie Spore infected materials, but at the same time - this would be a lot of fun. Having a 'zombie colony' where you have to deal with too much oxygen and not enough CO2.
I agree.... except that they are the first iteration. I hold out hope that they may make more changes to them. But for sure, as they are, they are not super practical for anything yet. I like your idea of a reverse dupe. They could call them mole people. We should get a mod made for that.
Hmm. That's a good idea. I'll look at it. I think I had it set that way because there were times I wanted the files to go in, but I can't remember why. Thanks!
I'm kind of feeling the itch to return to my current game. It's the furthest I've gotten (isn't that far) but I'm at the point where I'm trying to make steel and tame volcanos, vents, and geysers, as well as try to keep my base cool with a cooling set up for the SPOM I need to make.....and yeah. It just seems overwhelming. Especially since I've never done any of it before.
It's my go to, but I always recommend Francis John's Mid Game Humo video. He summizes how to get from early game to the industrial age of steel and plastic, much more succinctly than I ever could. But my best advice, is make yourself a test world, and before you start on a new project throw some tests of it together. Frankly though, a lot of the fun is doing it, failing at it, cooking some dupes, and starting again. It took me six thousand hours to become knowledgeable about the game. It would take ten thousand more time an expert. 😁
@@ender7154 Thanks for reminding me about Francis! He was one of the first people I started watching but ended up branching to a few different creators. After watching some of his launch upgrade guide and checking out the video you mentioned, I feel a lot better about where to focus on next.
He is who I first started watching as well. His tutorials are especially helpful. Especially after a break, this game is so complicated, a refresher is needed!
For me I like to get food managed first so I do basic farm tiles for meal lice and cook it, then I like to set up my fluids and start collecting pee water early and store it for reedfibre. Once water organized then you will feel the pressure for power and dupe labor. I set up automated coal power. Then I start on ranching at about the same time I'm close to getting a megatronics. Hate setting up hatch ranches before this. Once I get them going I set up a shipping zone and move into ice biomes asap. Try to find some cold geysers to feed into my metal refinement to warm it up. Can use cold liquid and run it through your power plant before refinement. Then it's a push to get plastic so you can get steam turbines. Either drekkos or oil. Drekkos is good for eggshells for lime. At the start you just need one aquatuner out of steel for all your cooling needs. Then make some type of industrial brick and a spom later. You can use deodorizer and polluted water for oxygen until spom.
Good suggestions. I never seem to get cold geysers. I always get carbon dioxide vents tho. The coldest thing I have is a cool steam vent. I like your breakdown tho. Thanks. @@CorvinoDan
Regarding the conduction panel: they have approximately the same effect as radiant pipes. The main point of them is that they can work on vacuum. So, instead of putting some liquid on the bottom to have a way to transfer heat, you can use just the conduction panel alone. It just makes easier to transfer heat on vacuum
Interesting. I read that, and that part makes sense, but I always like to test new items out myself to see them working and understand them better. I will have to do some testing in a vacuum to see how well they work there.
you made a mistake in the output pipes from the steam turbines because they cannot be connected in series because how can you see that the left turbine is not working due to a blocked pipe 24:20
I did! I fixed it after. They can be connected to the same pipe, but not in series as you said. It didn't really effect it because that volcano didn't need more than one turbine, but it effectively made it so only one am turbine could run. Fortunately I had to go back in to make other changes as well because I wanted to change the insulated block type so it was an easy fix.
Great colony. I love how orderly you are, expecially with pipes. Do you carefully plan it beforehand or do you go spaghetti for a while and then clean it up? My colony has much more spaghetti but I'm slowly untangling it.
I try to have a plan going into things, but it does get spaghetti at times. Having been through several playthrough it is a bit easier to anticipate problems, but some are inevitable.
i'm reaching cycle 700 with my first world and really wanted to have this story trait but i was scared to lose achievements, how did you enable them again?
It is a little bit tricky. But you can enable sandbox mode to add the story trait building. And then afterwards I used duplicity, a web app, to edit the save file. There is a setting in there setting debug was used. If you disable that you have your achievements options again. It can make your save act a little funny, mostly with your printing pod giving you things you have not yet discovered. And I just don't select those things. But it it is something to think about. The duplicity app is a little outdated and it will say that it doesn't work for this version but it does.
Question: what about the tiny packages that could be there forever on the rails cos it's too tiny to drop temp? They are not a thing ? I've always read you need a fail safe for that if you use the temp filter.
I have not experienced that. My system loads more on with each pass and so I would imagine that it would only be an issue if the rail got overloaded with small packets that are too small to cool. As the loop is about 30 blocks long, it would take a while for this to happen. That being said, it's my first time making one of these and I'm sure problems will arise. That's why I left it accessible, for the inevitable changes.
Also, we will be making several of these. For different types of metal, so hopefully I will work through lots of issues. The things that break are what make the game so fun for me. I love solving how to make them work.
@@ender7154 hmm, yeah I guess the packs will grow to full size, since it goes in a circle like that. The chiller section is a lot smaller than mine, so very interested if this works well.
So far it works. It works slow, but that's okay. I did make a few changes to make it so the aluminum is moved clear from the base of the volcano more efficiently. And the loop is a bit longer. But as this will continue to work indefinitely, I'm fine with it taking a while to bring the loop down to 40 degrees as over a long enough time scale, we will built up more than I can use.
I think they want us to have a pacu farm. They just don't want us to have a pacu farm that takes a small investment and then provides infinite pacu fillets and egg shells. As much as I enjoyed abusing it, honestly I don't either. I am excited to work out the details of making a farm that is self sustainable to do the same thing.
I spent a large amount of time today designing a new fish and hatch farm. I'm very excited about it. I'll have a video out tomorrow, but probably not for the new farm that will be later this week. Hope you're all having fun with the new update!
There is a ton of ways to do it, and honestly I'll end up changing it a dozen times before the of the map. But you definitely don't want an infinite vent just open in your base. It'll pop all those eardrums. Lol
oh yeah, no. it's a storage room. with a on/off switch for the fan. As I said nothing fancy. Your build is inspiring. Excited to see what it ends up. @@ender7154
