Here you can find the restoration of various film cameras such as SLR, TLR, and rangefinder. I also restore the lenses of the film era. I currently don't accept any commercial service but I do sell some of my CLA cameras sometime.
I am also an artist and I do painting traditionally and digitally. I love photography, travel, and street foods!. If someone gets useful information from my channel, it is worth giving my time to make these videos. Enjoy!
Had subscribed for a long time...BUT seeing this 👎 and unsubbd. Titles are too fast to disappear and on mobile or smart tv...impossible to go back n forth. Just magic editing is useless...SORRY 👎👎👎
I am using 2.5 mm and 1.8 or 2.0 mm flat precision screw driver most of the time. Just good quality one will do the job. I have Vessel screwdriver for really small screws and they are great!
So i have some Me Supers with infinite wind issue. I've managed to do everything.... until, resoldering the mirror box into the body. When I tried to attach the wires, the pads just sort of fell off... This is on those 3 wires and metal ribbon that attach near where the shutter button would be. I have little to no experience soldering so any advice would be appreciated. Should I be using flux first? What sort of iron temperature? It's very frustrating as i've almost completed the repair but come up against this hurdle I can't achieve.
Yes, you should always use soldering flux. Most soldering station can’t show temp at the soldering iron tip, so starting from 200-250 C temp also fine. But flex circuit can be break or damaged easily so be careful when soldering flex circuit.
This video was amazingly comprehensive! You cleaned and fixed up practically everything and showed off a bunch of great techniques along the way! And not only did you delicately handle the lens but also the internals, the clockwork, and the electronics! You truly hit every facet of camera repair in one video! This is amazing! Where did you learn to do all these different kinds of repair? You pretty much have to be a watchmaker, electronics hobbyist, and lens CLA guru. And I haven't seen someone work through ALL of these issues as cleanly and comprehensively as you have, only choosing to focus on one aspect alone! It's too cool to see all of them done on one camera and it makes the complexity of this camera that much more appreciable, I didn't know the QL17 was THIS engineered!!
I do sell some of the CLAed cameras in local market but I usually don’t take order commercially because these camera are mostly 60 years old and not all can be repaired. And also if the camera is not the valuable one, repairing can cost as much as buying the good condition one.
The selenium sensor looks to be in good order. It is possible to observe the state of conservation by looking at the color, the more blue the less oxidized it is.
If you ever come across an Olympus 35-S I would love to see that one repaired. At least some versions of it have seikosha mxl shutter so a little bit variety among all those copals😅
Hay! I already purchased Olympus 35 IV, 35-S, and wide-e from an online seller! Also, I ordered some electroplating solutions for restoration! stay tuned in.
Thanks. I do sell some of those in local market. And I do this as my second job. Actually, recording video and editing took way longer than repairing the camera. lol ha ha. 😂
It's one of the best camera repair videos I've seen. I congratulate you, perhaps there is no greater task than restoring and making something work again. The skill you have acquired both to repair the camera and to film it is impressive.
Having repaired two original Canonets (the ones that don't need a battery) watching you work on this is massively anxiety inducing haha😆. I have this urge to take a million photos and notes while watching you take it apart 😅😅
With patient you can do it! I loosely put the screw first then carefully lift and adjust the speed setting arm side to set arm knob to the quarter gear slot. That is the most difficult part because of the spring tension I think.
It can be the same problem. You may need to remove the front section and see what's happening inside the Copal Shutter unit. Sometime the cocking rod couldn't release the shutter because the shutter release arm is hitting the cocking rod @3:42. If that so, try readjusting the shutter release lever arm by loosen the crab eye screw or you need to file the interference part with sandpaper a little bit. But you may also need to clean the escapement unit if the shutter is open and couldn't close or getting slow shutter speed.
You are soo confident at this job! I wonder how many cameras you already serviced. True master. And your videos are truly educational. Please, keep going, show us the other cameras from the 100$ package…
Hello there, love your video, and came looking for help. I just got an Olympus Ace myself, and it was working recently until a couple days ago. The advance lever works fine, the counter works fine, but the shutter button seems to have stopped. It moves up and down, but when I move the lever it doesn't cuck the shutter mechanism, just advances the counter. Could you help me in any way? Any advice will be more than welcome, or if I could contact you I would really appreciate it.
I think you need to check Copal Shutter mechanism below the front lens unit. Sometime the main cocking rod inside the shutter unit stuck due to dust or rust and could not release the shutter. You don't need to disassembly the whole camera, just remove the front lens unit and you can access the main shutter mechanism.
@@VintageResurrection Just yesterday I dared open it following your video. After 3 hours of opening and watching, I got to the problem: One of the gears in the top part, right under the frame counter, the one responsible for ccking the shutter, stopped engaging the lever mechanism. It was a simple matter of moving the gear into the right position again, cleaning a little bit and greasing the area slightly. Worked like a charm! Unfortunately, the frame counter spring missaligned and now it's not coming back to the reset position. Fix for today, but the shutter working is a Win for me, thanks to your video! I'll update on the frame counter as soon as I open it again 👌🏻
I think you should try asking your local "japanese used market" auction dealer. I got this from my local auction dealer who buy and sell the whole japanese used items shipping containers every month and sold like these as a lot.
Hi there! Definitely a good price for these cameras. I have all the Hi-Matics in my collection, so I plead for a video of those. And the Canonet too. Can't wait to learn new stuff.
Really excellent and absorbing video. As a beginner, I'd be very interested to learn how you keep track of where all the components go back, please? Thank you. (UK).
Oh.. that’s nothing special. I took the photos of every steps when disassembled the camera. The service manuals are very very helpful if you can find one on the web!
