I can’t help but wonder why the video had a 1940's American gangster theme.... very weird...

Gazza changed his image from album to album and I seem to recall that his mum made a good deal of what he wore on stage ( Jumpsuits and belts etc.). There were a number of bands who wore 1940s style clothing during the early 80s in England ( Blue Rondo/ Matt Bianco, Spandau Ballet), and I read in The Face that this style had been 'rediscovered' by the fashionable London folk who attended Blitz ( Years after August Darnell). Gazza went with a completely different look for him and similar to the besuited 'New Romantics' on Dance ( As one of his many critics noted in a review of the album). Plus the hats covered his receding hairline. Bless him. We had to wait for the 90s for him to find himself again, and I believe his wife told him he should just be himself. Kudos!

He was into the whole 1930s/1940s gangster imagery back then. He even bought the classic car that you'll see in the Dramatis 'Love Needs No Disguise' video.

A really cool album that largely flew under the radar. I discovered it on college radio when I was a DJ and it came across my desk. "Burning Bush" was the song that sold me immediately.

Great, under-the-radar Numan track... one of three or four asthma great songs from Numan's classic synth period... love the shifts & exotic flourishes which only he can do so musically.... how did this guy go astray in those years I'll never understand... his music is so captivating & dustinct
