At the time shooting this film , Gary Oldman had a severe problem with The Alcohol .. he couldn’t even remember the lines of this film so the director and people on the set would help him to remember them.

HAHA I looked this up, muted it, and played Hoobastank Crawling in the Dark over this. If you know the lyrics, you'll see that it fits Dimmesdale pretty darn well, because he crawls in the dark of his guilt
