Remember when this used to be the first fight between a Jedi and a Sith in a thousand years Well Disney retconned it And deep down we all know the legends canon is the true canon
3:02 maybe I have been incredibly slow for 25 years but what this Palpatines plan all along? He planted the dreams of Padmes death into Anakin and then came with "the offer" how he Palpatine could help Anakin save her from this death. There was never a threat, it was Palpatine lying to Anakin. Quite clever a strategy I would say.
1:28 "You're going to kill him, aren't you?" She couldn't betray him either way... Kenobi had no intention of killing Anakin. He even begged Yoda to not send him after him. I believe he stowawayed on her cruiser b/c he believed between him & Padme, they could talk sense to him.
It was kind of genius how they put these super complex characters on screen for a just a few seconds. It really would make the viewer of the day super interested in consuming media and leave you thinking about Star Wars as you tried to fill in the gaps in your head. Genius film making
I love how yoda shouts and roars at Dooku whilst swinging all over the place ballistically and Dooku is just using elegant spins and powerful strikes, absolutely stone cold combatant 🥶
I went to see this when I was 12, just me and my dad, and man did we have a blast. Despite the dark events and the somber ending, I was engrossed from start to finish, and we talked about it the entire car ride home. For me, thanks to that memory, this is the true final film of the Saga. What I wouldn’t give to go back and experience that night again.
Plagueis and Palpatine's plan in a nutshell: -Step 1: Ruin the reputation of Finnis Valorum and prevent Jedi intervention in our plans. -Step 2: Get the Trade Federation anr army and replace their leader with one who owes me for all his success. -Step 3: Blockade Naboo, preventing necessary supplies from being brought to the planet. -Step 4: Invade the planet and force the incompetent teenage monarch to sign a treaty legalizing their actions, preventing the Senate from intervening. -Step 5: Palpatine complains to the Senate that his people are starving, and puts all blame on Valorum for giving the Federation that much power in the first place. -Step 6: Convince somebody to call for a vote of no-confidence on Valorum, relying on the fact that no one likes him, to ensure he's removed from office. -Step 7: Convince somebody to nominate you for the Chancelorship, take control, force the Federation to back-off and emerge a hero. -Step 8: get Plagueis absolutely wasted, wait until he passes out, and then electrocute him in his sleep, claiming the title of Dark Lord for Palpatine and ruling the Galaxy with Darth Maul by his side. -From "The Politics of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Explained, by Star Wars Audio Comics- (Great video 10/10, recommended watch).
Mark :45... Vader walking across the bridge for the first time is absolutely perfect. The way his cape moves from his gait and lightlty skims the floor is spot on from Empire. Incredible detail...
"It is obvious that this contest cannot be decided by our skills with the force" My dude. Yoda did LITERALLY NOTHING. He stood there and took your attacks.
When you are asked to picture a Sith Lord, nobody goes to Palpatine before his transformation. Yet, it is this incarnation that the Sith are most appealing. Even the best of the Jedi can't tell the difference between a Sith and a skilled politician.
Here's something I never understood: when Lott Dod claims there is no proof of the Trade Federation invading Naboo, why did Amidala not bring in Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan as witnesses who, having been sent to mediate by the Supreme Chancellor, could've admitted to their attempted assassination by Gunray and Haako, the deployment of an invasion force, and their having been fired upon while escaping the planet? Wouldn't damage to the Queen's ship courtesy of Federation laser fire also be evidence supporting this claim?
The Jedi were deemed unreliable in the eyes of the Senate because of the plotting by Plagueis and Palpatine. There was a sort of Peace summit that delegates of the Trade Federation attended and Qui Gon and Obi-Wan themselves were sent as security details for the delegation (because of increasing threats by anarchists actually funded by Palpatine and Plagueis). At some point in the summit, one of the anarchists' snipers targeted the delegates, and Qui Gin and Obi-Wan pursued. But then the second part of the plot came to fruition and the Battle Droids were sliced to turn on the Trade Federation leaders, killing them all (leaving Nute Gunray as the only leader of the Trade Federation and Viceroy), all according to Palpatine's plan. After that the Jedi were deemed ineffective and relieved of many policing duties, and seeing as Qui Gon and Obi-Wan were directly involved in that (and it was their direct failure), their testimony would have been outright dismissed.
When I first saw episode III and it got to the Yoda/Palpatine fight scene I thought OOH DAAAAAMN YODA IS GONNA TEAR HIM UP!! Yoda’s dialogue was so freaking epic “At an end your rule is. And not short enough it was.” The music was the cherry on top! I didn’t really understand how this was a prequel at the time so I really thought Yoda was going to kill Sidious
