My perfect place to be. I have owned two cabin cruisers, the best holiday I have ever had was with mt girlfriend on my mates 42foot broads cruiser. We paid for fuel and food, he took us on a guided tour of the broads. Ten days of absolute heaven.
It looks like you're fishing the opposite bank to where I used to fish at Coalport, I used to fish at the Brewery Inn and I'm sure it used to flow from right to left....although it was nearly 30 years ago since I was up there. I've had some brilliant days barbel bashing there, but it gets hammered near the pub and the fishing is quite tough. But if you walk a bit further there's some amazing fishing to be had. Me and my mate walked well past the hammered pegs - I can remember cutting through the grounds of some old, apparently empty but you never can tell, and down to a stretch where you have to make your peg and the only people you'd see were on the opposite bank. I have a feeling that perhaps we probably weren't fishing 100% legit by cutting through those grounds, but hey ho, there were barbel to catch and I wasn't going to let the small matter of trespass stop me 😆 It wasn't as if I was hurting anything or anybody, and no damage was caused so sod it 👍
Hello David. What an amazing session indeed! So many lovely barbel. I have just joined Rowley & District but have yet to set eyes on the stretch. I do however intend to fish it next summer. I’ve read the advice you supplied to another subscriber about your favourite pegs, very useful indeed thanks! I’ll maybe see you on the bank next year! A really enjoyable video.
Hello David. That’s a very productive and relatively short session. Some lovely Severn barbel. I’ve just joined the club at Coalport and look forward to fishing it for barbel next season. It looks a beautiful stretch!
Love the detail. I enjoy watching old movies that have miniatures. Its so incredible seeing the detail those model makers went too for a shot that was only for 3 seconds. I always pause on my dvr and really check it out.
My grandfather was in Malta with the 22nd cheshire reg defending the grand harbour when this happened... However, he said the grandest sight was when uss wasp turned up with the delivery of spitfires, and the Germans started dropping like flies!.. However a video of a model.. Your title is bit grand for what u deliver! Atleast torpedo it and strap a few destroyers to it!
I have most probably dived the wreck of Ohio, back in 2013. we didn´t knew the ID of the wreck back then but every detail is correct. I just found out 2 weeks ago when I read the story and got the details of the ship!
Hi David. Great video by the way. It's been hard fishing lately. Can I ask what club runs the stretch? I live in Telford, and It's so hard to find out who runs the stretches in Coalport. I used to fish there as a kid, but I've been out of Telford area for so long, everything has changed so much😭 Thanks. Ken
Hi kenny - in terms of Coalport and jackfield , outside of rowley Regis stretch ( which is below the Woodbridge pub) you have the brewery inn stretch which begins outside the brewery pub and goes downstream ( pub sell tickets ) .. the rest of the river bank is not managed by any clubs so is either owned by the council , Severn gorge countryside or the EA . The EA have the free stretch 100 yards before the shake pub .. all above that is council owned so you can essentially fish that until told different and on jackfield side the same .. outside the maws craft centre is free ( until told different ) as is the track just below the boat pub until you get to Davies field .. two exceptions to the above .. the boat pub have a couple of pegs in their beer garden - they will I think let you fish for a donation to British legion as a peg fee and Davies field is privately owned but I've " guested" on there for years and never been asked to move on .. hope that helps
Hi David Enjoy your videos I'm a new member at coalport, what pegs do you find the best for barbel on the stretch? I've only fished the 90s and 40s so far. Any help would be appreciated .. do you always fish the float? Thanks . Ian
In the winter anywhere from 85 to 100 (Feeder tactics) The 40's are good in the summer for the feeder or the float tactics conditions permitting. Pegs I like to fish on float or light lead tactics are 18A, 22, 22A, 24, 42, 43, 44, 45, 50, 53, 55, 72, 73, 74, 75, 78, 79, 80. There are other pegs I have not fished could produce well. Keep an eye on the match results. I preferer the float but it depends on river and weather conditions. The barbel can turn up anywhere, its a matter of finding them.

@@IGThomas46 I use a Cadence CR10#3 Match Rod, mainline: 7lb Bayer Perlon . Hook Length: 6.4lb Drennan Flurocarbon. Hook: 16 wide gape with a hair rig when using pellets. Hook bait either meat or halibut pellets. Feed is as per hook bait. The river is low and clear at the moment so its all about finding the fish

Hi David. Just found this on You Tube. My Father sailed on the Manxman from when she was launched until she left the company. We tried to save her from going to scrap but couldn’t raise the money in time. The last of the great mini steam ships. If the model ever cam up for sail would be interested.
Hi David, would love to pick your brain about the River. Me and the Mrs are looking at getting a boat to moor in Tewkesbury and would really appreciate the opportunity to ask you for any tips about cruising in the river..
Tewkesbury is the ideal place to have a boat as you have three directions to cruise, down the river Severn towards Gloucester and the Sharpness canal, up the river Severn to Stourport and up the River Avon to Stratford. The Avon being the most picturesque. The Avon has low bridges though so when deciding on a boat ensure it will clear the bridges. My boat is moored at Strensham about 5 miles above Tewkesbury which is ideal for me.
@@MrDavidhgreatbatch have you ever ventured out into the Bristol Channel? The wife and I were hoping that if we moored in Tewkesbury we could get out to sea that way? If you ever need an able bodied young crew member when you’re cruising, I’d be happy to give you a hand.
@@dolby259 I've cruised down to Sharpness from Tewkesbury but the wife is to frightened to enter into the channel even though our boat will handle it no trouble
