Back in those days, everybody knew everybody: That was the beauty of folk festivals. You'd get to see all the performers who normally had played the same places, but at different times...
Hi Rolly - sorry if I’m late to the game. Your Martin….can you please inform on model and year? 000 I assume and thinking it’s an 18 but please advise. I’ve been hunting an old 000 Thanks!!
Looks like a 28 by the top binding. May not be a Martin. I prefer 00-18.. I have currently have a 00-18V with highly flamed mahogany backs and sides. I also like, but do not currently have , the 000-18 and the OM 21.
@@jeffhildreth9244 thanks for the input. I have a ‘43 Martin 0-18 that I love. I also have a ‘65 D-21 but finding that is no longer comfortable for me to play. So I’ve been looking for a 000 18, 21 or 28. And as you may know they’re pretty pricey!!
@@jeffhildreth9244 It's an amazing guitar; the closest somewhat affordable thing to a pre-war Martin that I've ever found. As a friend said, "these guys pulled the sword out of the stone". I do also have a Martin OM-18 "Authentic", which is a great guitar as well.
I wanted to hear this special session for Happy. It was the easiest to find this on RU-vid. His book you showed was the book I still have and learned from when starting to play guitar. My version is pretty worn out yet one of my treasures. I had to learn all the songs in that book which along with classical training at age 21. This is one of those things in life that changed me permanently in a positive way. I enjoy your stories. Thank you Rolly for this tribute to Happy. It brings many fond and happy memories to mind. R.I.P. Happy 👍😎🎼🎵🎶❤️
Thanks, Siggy, I'm not sure where you live these days, but Dave Fry of Godfrey Daniels Coffeehouse has asked me to join him on Sept. 25th for a "Dave's Night Out" tribute to Happy Traum.
Hi Rolly, You sound great as always! Is there any chance that you might ever record an album of solo fingerstyle jazz tunes on your acoustic? Your arrangements and playing are my absolute favorite.
Thank you for those kind words. My CD, "This Vagrant Heart", is mostly jazz standards. Also, "Songbirds" is solo jazz guitar with female torch singers. Both are available here: rollybrown.com/store.html . If you're outside the continental U.S., contact me here before ordering; shipping costs are higher.
@@TheLordMelodyCalypso There are two other solo guitar CDs, "No Need For Words" (meditative improvs) and "Sunday Morning" (originals, jazz, blues, etc.). They aren't all jazz tunes, but there's lots of jazzy stuff there.
It's generally referred to as Freddie Green style, which is eliminating non-essential chord tones and also freeing up a soloist by not overdefining the harmony. A diminished fifth interval will always define a dominant seventh sound because it is the interval existent between the major third and minor 7th chord tones.
It's a signed print from Dick Waterman which was gifted to me by two dear friends. Waterman, an avid blues supporter, took many great pics of the bluesmen who were rediscovered in the 1960s.
@@djangokeli Yes,Rolly!Exactly like you, Adi/Br, 00, but level 1.25 now, which can be changed at any time. There are very few videos about this model, so it is glad to see the wonderful performances. The guitar sound is very balance and clear!
