If I remember correctly the beach is part of the hotel and you don’t have to pay for sunbeds. I did go a while ago though. However I reckon you can still just lay on the towel! I’m not 100% sure though 😊
I agree. The first night I wasn't comfortable emotionally. I saw 10 nights with an autistic teen ahead of me and was worried. There were mosquitos and no WiFi in the room. To get wifi in the room etc it was extra. My android didn't disconnect, but the connection with the iPhone was annoying. I thought as there had been renovation they would have mended what was broken first. The bathroom was worn out. The food was okay during the day. 1 places had grilled meat and chips and the other had pizza. It was better once I had realised that there were burgers and nuggets etc in the pool bar. The pancakes were a saviour to eat pre 5pm as the evening option was limited. We would also go out of the hotel to the supermarket and stock up with treats. I didn't find the reef bar, so would go to bed earlier than normal. The loud music and smoke didn't make me relax. The pools and staff made the holiday. The various pools are cold, but this was welcomed. My child is a non-swimmer and the heights helped his confidence. The staff were sooooo helpful. When our door kept locking us out, they fixed it within 15 minutes each time. The cleaner organised me and left various towel animals. 😂 Our pool guy would see that my beer was getting low and another would arrive. As Emily has said, I was disappointed that you had to pay for cocktails. If you like wine or beer, you are okay. Non alcoholic drinks are lemonade or cola. The Fanta ran out so we used the supermarket. It is a no frills holiday, which I upgraded with the supermarket.
I mean, I wouldn’t wanna pay for extra drinks on an all inclusive. Especially if the food isn’t that great. Overall, it looks nice despite the problems you encountered :) Thanks for the review, pros and cons.
PLEASE LIKE AND SUB <3 **Grand hotel pros and cons** Overall: I would go back if it wasn’t for the mosquitos, if they had more places to chill in the evening and if the food wasn’t so samey. Pros: Staff - All the staff were extremely kind and helpful. They really went out their way to make you feel special. Prompt Response - we had a quite a few problems with our standard room before they upgraded us to a deluxe room. However, every problem was responded to promptly even if it wasn’t a permanent fix. Pool Choice - Mum liked that there were lots of pools and each pool was different in height. The Sea - the hotel was by the sea and you could see glimpses of it whilst walking up and down the stairs of the complex. Weather - I went end of may - early April. Weather was beautiful. 28 - 32 degrees. I’m all honesty it was getting too hot for me at some points. (Dip in the pool lots/ drink water) Fusion Restaurant - the best place to eat in the hotel. Other a la carte restaurants you had to pay extra for drinks. Sunday Evening - The best night for entertainment, the hotel outsource entertainment and organises a meal on the beach. (This is extra and you have to pay for it). Transfer - Only like 20 mins away! Cons: WiFi - only free in the Lobby but really patchy and didn’t work very well. We bought WiFi so we could use it around the complex. However it was still dodgy and had to log on every 5 minutes. A la carte restaurants - most of the a la carte restaurants you had to pay extra for your drinks. Which I found very very odd. The Italian food wasn’t that great either. Food - Very samey. However every person I spoke to at the airport felt the same way about their hotel food. Evening Entertainment - although the entertainment staff are lovely, I felt there was limited/ good entertainment. This could be because we were the only English and didn’t really know what was going on. Also not a lot of space to chill in the evenings. Construction: SO much construction work happening all over the hotel. Lobby bar - not all bars had all inclusive drinks. The lobby bar was not included in all inclusive. Massages - Not good, didn’t rate them. In small hut like spaces, with no privacy. Beach - not a walk into the water beach. Was on a rock cliff and have to get a jetty into the water.
Many students make the mistake of walking Penglais Hill to the main campus with suitcases. Better to get a taxi or bus up the hill. I was over in Llanbadarn.

It was okay! Honestly the Al la carte meals were the best I had! Similar things each day at the main restaurant but I didn’t mind too much! Definitely go to the Italian restaurant it’s amazing!
I’m really sorry I’ve been trying to find it but I’m pretty sure I went with one of the top ones on trip advisor! I can’t find it in my history though! Sorry!!!
