Oh Katherine! Love your story! I just left the city because I couldn't make a living. I wish I had found you earlier. I relate to you and I would still come back to meet you. I am lost at 71. I felt it was over for me. seeing you makes me feel I am just starting I guess! Betsy
You dont become an artist all because the art world accepts you . She was desperate to be a big deal . Sadly this level of mediocrity has infiltrated the art world ..its got nothing to do with vision and everything to do with making the right moves and surrounding yourself with the "right" people
Great interview. What KB says about art is true of life in general, I kept thinking Yeah that's my life but I'm a psychologist. Anyway, the art of living is discussed here, Life = Art = Life
I'd never heard of her before. Her work reminds me of candid snapshots of how people really are on the inside. Inside photos. She's truthful and real and I like that and her. No pretension which is refreshing.
Thank you for introducing me to this fascinating artist. At 82, I share her attitude regarding my art making but lack her courage. Much admiration for her and best wishes for continued recognition.
Thank you Ms. Katherine. I am 72. Just found my art too. I don't really paint but I make things using paint and canvas and paper and wood and all kinds of substrates. And I love it. And yes. Making something of value fits right in there too.
I’m 77 going on 78 and Worked as an Architect but in the last ten years or so I started “making things”. Drawing, watercolors, objects and now I’m making mini couture initially for my granddaughter’s mouse and bunny people. I realized that I’ve always wanted to do costumes and Theater design. Actually I’m just having fun and it also it’s therapeutic. Helps me. mourn the loss of my daughter in a positive way.
Outstanding interview and delving into KB's take on being an artist. I love her way of not pigeon-holing herself into the "commercial" part of Art for making money only! Self expression through her visions and experiences coming alive on the canvas or any other object that is around! Inspiring.
I love this! I can relate totally…I’m in my 70’s, too. I love her thoughts about her painting relating more to poetry than politics. Yes! Same. I’m a basically self taught but, now “study” with others on RU-vid for inspiration! Many great teachers out there!! Thanks for expressing how I feel Katherine!! Love your work! ❤
Someone who has worked incredibly hard, is kind, supportive of other artists and her family. She is original and creative, and finally in her 70s started getting recognition. A woman with an incredible sense of humor, unpretentious and direct being and I am so thrilled for her success! ❤
