It never ceases to amaze me when I see an ambulance or a police car with its 'blues n two's' blaring, practically up the ar?e of a driver in front and the driver is completely oblivious! Should take their licences away on the spot! 😅

This film was hugely popular in North Dakota and Minnesota from it's US premiere in Fargo in 1959 through about the late 60's. After the initial run it played drive-ins for years all over the tri-state area. It's easy to see why. Almost everyone lived in a small town and boys up to 14 or so could go barefoot all summer anywhere they liked; and having a .22 rifle by 12-14 was every boy's birthright.

The Father Brown mysteries are an amusing read, but frankly, for "Mystery" power, they are about on a par with the "ENCYCLOPEDIA Brown" mystery stories.

What fun! While I have listened to some of the Rathbone/Bruce Holmes’ pastiches, the intro was the first I have heard voice actor Ben Wright as himself! He appeared all over the place in the 40’s, 50’s as British characters in shows like Suspense, Escape, Pursuit, and Crime Classics.
I really, really, loved those two plays. Thanks so much for sharing them. I especially loved the Trustee from the Toolroom. The Jack Donnelly character was my favourite. I imagine there a lots of people like him in far off Pacific islands, who read the signs of nature, birds and weather to get themselves from A to B in their boats.

The humorous quote at the beginning is actually a valid question in terms of the physics of relativity. Best not get into it unless you're a fan of higher mathematics, or migraines.
Thanks for posting this. Typical Nevil Shute - non demanding yet thoroughly enjoyable. "Trustee From the Toolroom" is one of the most creative plots I've ever heard. Solid acting from beginning to end in an era when life was more straightforward.
We cannot define whether an AI is alive or not, because there has NEVER been an absolute definition of what life is. As for consciousness, is there anything MORE subjective than our own consciousness? How can you challenge the consciousness of another when you cannot prove your own?
