If you are a U.S. chess player that is at least expert level or above, you can make residual income at playing street chess. Another way is to play unrated sections at tournaments, where we get the term 'sandbagger' that implies you are a strong player looking to scoop up some winnings against lower rated players. But that can be a mixed bag, as you may run into some masters who are doing the same thing! But all in all, you want to stay away from big tournaments, as there is way too much competition to win anything significant. If you do play at tournaments, you want to play at smaller venue tournaments. And although you won't win big prize money at them, you have greater chances of winning something. I hope that I have been helpful. :o)

very well done. I have had white push e5 after black plays nf6, I am black. What is the best retort. Because I have had three games in a row that have done this, Catches me off guard. What say you
@michechess
@michechess 6 месяцев назад
Just trade pawns, then trade queens on d1 and then play Ng4, forking white pawns on f2 and e5

Good advice! And when playing lots of games, the losses are more instructive than the wins. It's probably beneficial to try to analyze the losses without an engine to try to figure out at what point the position became lost, and afterwards run it through an engine.

For sure! 😉👍

Why do black need to play a6 that wasn't clear to me
@michechess

So they can hide the Bishop on a7 and not trade it for the White Knight

Thank you Maestro. This is one of the most instructive videos Ive ever seen, and Im "old" LOL. All kidding aside, its clear that the endgame is the least understood by the beginner and intermediate player, and the practical nature of this instruction should be clear even to players below1700, though there are "Experts" who may not understand the nuance and endgame strategy so necessary for real excellence in chess. I wonder what you charge or "if " you are available for tutoring?....Regardless, GRATITUDE for this wellspring of chess knowledge. Peace and blessings and all the best for the New Year
