It's kinda hilarious how much fencing is about NOT doing certain movements, about restraining and controlling oneself. I think that taking this fact into consideration could make movie swordfight scenes much better. This is somewhat reason why some classic samurai movies have nice fightscenes, which show scared and uncontrolled begginners vs calm, controlled and precise advanced fencer.
Thank you sir. I am teaching lightsaber according to fencing principles and often have to convince people to attack the deep targets when an unguarded hand is clearly available. These drills should really help. (I work to edit/publish old Hungarian and Austro-Hungarian manuals from pre-Borsody era. If you're still open to Q&A, how can we who don't get access to these programs understand the modern Hungarian theory? How has it changed since then? ) Thanks again. All these beginner/fundamentals videos are a godsend.
Good afternoon, Master. I really need your professional opinion. I wrote to you by e-mail, but there was no response (I know that you are a very responsible person and try not to leave people unanswered, so I thought that you simply did not see my e-mail, so I decided to write again, but in the form of a comment to your video, so that You probably saw it). Thank you in advance for your reply.
i remember many years ago one of my friend and his russian coach would tell him when you fence albert (me) you hit him hard... hahaha it was all in fun as we gave eachother a hard time and laughed about it... miss them both as haven't seen them for years...
to do the feint, it is needed to slightly back a bit in order to avoid the blade. Basically, not pull arm back but relax the arm and the the wrist and finger to avoid the blade. Then the arm will slightly moving backward.
It is the rule in UK and many countries that fencer and coach must wear mask. We cannot give lesson or training when doing pair exercise with weapons without mask.
"opppnent stupid enough, go in" i love that. jokes aside, you are a very good coach, i wish i had a coach like this when i started foil. i love sabre but there are no coachs/clubs that offer it near me
Great video as always. Your videos are also very relaxing. Laszlo's tone of voice and calm way of explaining everything is really enjoyable to watch and listen to
It’s funny cause an American we got pew pews and Europeans had blades and swords all of their history. “I’ll wet ya!” “Only thing your wetting is your knickers bruv” “Gratata”
Yes, you are right. Thank you so much for your comment. This fencer just started to fence and it is more real that she can present more mistakes that most of the time coaches are facing with this, hopefully by the time she can do better. Hope you enjoy the video.
Blade Master, greetings! It is very pleasant to watch you at work. Being a coach myself, I perfectly understand the nuances that people far from fencing are unlikely to be able to see. You radiate a fatherly calmness and understanding towards your students. You give your students the opportunity to learn from you your carefully correct technique. - I hope they understand how lucky they are with you? I wish you good health and the desire to continue doing your favorite thing, simultaneously delighting all of us! With respect.
Thank you so much for your comment. I hope my video will be useful for many coaches who start to teach and find difficult how to teach and correct mistake. Have a Merry Christmas to you.😊
Thank you for this video, love the captions, they really let me hear the corrections witch are so essential as a beginner coach!! Audio, techniques, corrections, this is sooo excellent!!
I started fencing in October, my first 2 lessons I won against other beginners , but recently I have been losing and made me very sad. I hope this videos will help me practise at home with my loghtsaber. We only get 1 hours lessons once a week
Great video from an obviously skilled instructor, a pity that we can't hear much of his running commentary to the student instead of some inane canned background music.
thank you so much for your comment. It was early stage of making the video so no microphone at that time. But later video, we make more voice and caption.
iwant to shout at the student. basics of sequential action is absent. over committing the attacks by moving his feet first or using shoulder araaaarggh
@@adriansaw8329 Yes Agree with you. It was frustrated to teach too but it is a coach job as most of our fencers will be like this. That is the reason why we did this video. It would not be useful if we choose perfect fencer to demonstrate as the real life, the coach job is dealing with this kind of fencer most of the time. Lots of videos on you tube mainly choose the best performer but for us we try to choose the imperfect one and show how to help them :) Also this is the demonstration for the coach how to deal with the problem that fencers have. I hope you like it even though it is frustrating to watch :D
I really appreciate seeing imperfect students. As a coach I often am overwhelmed with what to work on. It seems to me that the best coaches know just how picky they need to be, and when to let things go so they can focus on one thing.
@@romanista77 My dear colleague. Thanks for your message. I am glad you like the clip. Actually, I am working on new records and hopefully will be on RU-vid soon. Regards Laszlo
