It sounds like you have experience with both brands that I am interested in, Tool Vault & Extreme and I have a couple of questions for you please. 1)- Assuming that I am looking at their top of the line boxes, is there really much of a difference between the two quality/build wise? When looking at the Stricktly Toolboxes website it seems that the Extreme has thicker gauge steel but both weigh a TON! I really like the 72 inch x 30 inch, green Tool Vault but the pricing difference might be offset by the difference in quality. 2)- Do you have pros/cons of working with a hutch vs. a top box drawer unit? I REALLY like the look of the hutch but am looking at a moving to a larger box because I have seriously outgrown my current box. I don't want to spend all that money just to get back into the same situation. Thanks in advance!
I have not seen a quality difference between the two, but my sample size is small since there aren't as many Tool Vaults in shops, but those I have seen are used by diesel techs and are heavy duty enough to hold a lot of weight and some very large tools. Hutch vs. top box is strictly preferential. It depends on whether you want to keep the top of your box as a lockable work surface or if you want the additional drawer space. If you get a hutch and find you need more drawer space later, you can always get a cart or something similar. But if you get a top box and decide you want a lockable work surface, there isn't a great option for that.
@@CoyleTools I know this is an old vid but I just saw it today. Thank you SO much for the quick reply! Appreciate the feedback about Tool Vault. For some reason I am REALLY liling the 30 inch depth (I know the drawers aren't that deep?) I think this really helps with storage issues. If the Icon was 30" deep I would probably have one by now. Love the quality that I see in the stores. Opinions on Tool Vault vs Icon quality?
@@philmcginnis2373 They seem comparable to me. Between the two brands, there are at least a half dozen I see in use everyday, and have been for at least four or five years. A couple of those for much longer. They have held up well. I don't think you can lose with either brand. With all brands of tool boxes, the best way to treat them is to keep the drawer slides clean. Dirty, gummy slides is easily the most common problem I see. It results in the ball bearings falling out and the slides sticking, requiring replacing the slides.
I just bought this set from Home depot and there was no cardboard inserts all where in place except the bottom shelf which was a little messed up. Made me wonder if they sold me one returned.
I think most electrical specific screwdrivers are good to 1000V. You can get a set of Wera or Wiha for as low as $30/set of 6. Same for pliers, Knipex, Wiha, Klien, etc, are all 1000V tested for $40-$50 each. Wera also makes ratchets with that same Voltage rating so I'm not sure why the JohnDow are so insanely expensive?? I can't see them being any better quality than the German brands listed here? 1000V rated tools really aren't that special, am I missing something here??? Regardless, I'm not trying to be a hater/troll. I love your vids, tonns of great info👍Im just curious about the difference
What's the difference between XP 11r 2100, and XP 11r 2600. I cannot tell the difference between them. I have both in Black and seem exactly the same with no markings of any kind thank you
@@CoyleTools I received the new 2600 in the mail it is exactly the same as the 2100. Exactly. I already had two 2100 s. Wanted to upgrade. Is the box it came in shield sealed as a 2600.
Great review.. As for the Astro ratchet I have sold many and the ones I had to warranty all broke at the flex head. Also most the time customers are breaking them on brake caliper bracket bolts or when used with the 18mm or larger nano sockets. It's a great tool but it does have its limits. Thank you for another great tool video (without the drama) LOL..!
The Astro nano socket ratchet ONLY works with the 3/8 drive nano sockets, the hex bolster is different sizes on all their nano sockets. Some dipstick seller on Amazon even has that ratchet paired with the 1/2 drive nanos SMFH
I have the top on BT 200 battery tester, which is like the BT 600 but without the printer. The display is razor sharp and very easy to read and it’s a responsive and quick to do a diagnosis. I really like mine. Also a top on ArtiDiag Magnum scan tool. It’s not quite in the Autel category, but it’s still very very good and it’s a lot less money than the Autel .
@@CoyleTools you’re welcome. I have their second from the top of the wine scan tool and I would say it’s about 3/4 of an Autel but half the price and I was able to get there software licenses extended out to 2027 for a reduced rate when I bought it, not a bad deal if you ask me. It definitely found things that other scanners that I’ve tried missed. If you don’t offer them, you should seriously think about it.
Astro is coming out with a ratchet for the 1/4 line of nano sockets. Due in September. Really gives those El wrenches a run for the money. Just saying.
Another you want to steer me away from ? Could this be one of the many reasons truck prices are different than Amazon prices ? Forget great service. Honest truthful options ? Solid factual information ? Hoping for long term business , not just a quick buck once ? Thank you for your clips and insight . As a tool dealer your as good as CP is a reviewer .
You are the only tool guy I watch now, because of a lot of the you tube drama that happened over time I stopped watching. I am a new tech and I need good honest help, I do not care if people can't and don't get along and feel the need to put it on you tube just to hurt the other person.
I am very grateful for your viewership. I'm with you about some of the other RU-vidrs. I have no desire to get into that kind of pettiness and I'd rather give you actual information than spew out speculative or opinionated content.
That’s a great attitude. One of my dearest closest friends was a master mechanic for Ford his set of tools? Harbor freight. He always told me it was never the magic wand. It’s the magician. He was a really smart man and he taught me so much. I’m really gonna miss him. if you ever encountered an SHO Taurus with the little trapdoor behind the glove box to access the spark plugs? That was his innovation.
Hello again, Lindsay Thank you for another Great Video 👍 In the beginning of the video you were having a problem with the hammer end. I wonder what if the gun were jamed. And you had gained access. How would you do it? Anyhow I enjoyed watching tonight's video 😊
Hello, George! You pose an excellent question that I don't know the answer to. The only jamming problem I've experienced with these is when using sub-standard ammo, the spent casing didn't eject and stove-piped, or the round didn't fire. Clearing the bad rounds was accomplished easily just by retracting the bolt. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
You have to be patient. I bought a used orange 3 drawer Snap on box for under $500, and practically new 42” 7 drawer roller orange Snap on tool box for $1000 and a blue classic 78 box in great condition for $1000(same one that he advertised in his video)
I own a 2235 and on some moments when im losing a lug nut it just stop spinning and just hear the air coming out only doin it in reverse losing bolts and i noticed if i got the gun on different angle it do it more so what can be ?
You can email me with information about what you'd like to purchase. Once the purchase is complete, if you're local to my area, you can pick up your firearm in person. If not, I will ship the gun to the FFL of your choice. My email is Lindsay@CoyleTools.com.
Hi, Iwamted to know if you have any knowledge on the W5350? It’s their 1/2” right angle battery impact. The anvil is really loose. Like, there is no pressure pushing it into the casing. I can move it all around easily. Now when I take the backplate off, exposing the insides and i press the big hammer section that sits on top of the anvil, there’s not play at all. I can’t think if there is a washer missing or something. It was taken apart from i can tell. I paid 50.00 from eBay stating no tested, buy at risk. Being this is a 450.00 tool new, i took a chance. I found a parts diagram, but can’t see what I might be missing. I was hoping you have insight. Maybe the inside of the anvil is worn that much? What do you think if i may ask.
@@CoyleTools Well, I’m sorry that I did ask and I didn’t think you would respond with that honestly. I just wanted to know if you had any suggestions that’s all I wasn’t looking for a full MD diagnosis and repair guide for it. I already took the tool apart. It just doesn’t make sense to why it’s loose. I was just asking in a friendly way that’s all I wasn’t looking to make you take up your time. Again, sorry for asking for you to do something for free. I would’ve been just satisfied if you said you don’t have the tool in front of you and you don’t just wanna say anything. I would’ve been totally fine with that. I help people a lot in my industry and talk to them and give them advice and small little diagnosis here and there and I don’t ask them for money. But I respect how you feel that is it. You’re right you don’t have the tool so you can’t really tell me what could be wrong, I was just hoping you’ve seen this problem in the past and thought oh maybe you’re missing this or that.
@@Thomasjcolbert82 "I would’ve been just satisfied if you said you don’t have the tool in front of you and you don’t just wanna say anything." But that's exactly what I said. I won't speculate without seeing the tool because that's how people give bad advice, and that's not fair to you. I could lead you to believe something that isn't correct and could cost you money, and that's not in either of our best interests. Please don't be sorry you asked, I'm glad you did and would rather say something you didn't like than not say anything at all and leave you hanging.
Going to have to put some Astro bit sets on the truck. I carry the Mayhew set but the price is a lot more. Some of my new techs might like the Astro set. Good video..
I tell if you just have money for one Milwaukee battery ratchet just buy the insider I have the regular 3/8 fuel high toque and regular 1/4 fuel I forget what it’s the faster spinning one and I have the insider the insider you get a 3/8 and 1/4 long reach ratchet and you get a set of shallow sockets but I still prefer my air ratchet but sometimes battery is better like I got the 3/8 stubby m12 impact and 3/8 right angle impact I tell the new techs if you got to buy one buy the right angle impact that just about the same in power and you can do more with the right angle
@jacobstacy588 did you buy those Milwaukee ratchets on Amazon ? Or somewhere reliable that can handle any possible warranty issues ? You actually sound like a real mechanic. I'm guessing trucks or equipment because right angle impacts are really only helpful ( and very helpful at that ) under cars. Sorry you touchy about your undies , I was just saying cheaper is just that , cheaper. Less expensive is always better but you have a multitude of factors to consider on what your paying. Harbor freight has excellent magnetic trays / bowls but their screwdrivers aren't so good. Try to warranty a socket or wrench. It's a headache and time consuming. Trade the whole set if you have proof of purchase. Been there done that. I'm no truck fan boy. I am proud of my money and prefer to not waste it.
Tool truck prices ? Service ? Adive ? Payments on needed items? Easy warranty? Honesty, quality, dependability, and support ? My God Jeff bezos does this too. I mean he laughs at the thought. Half the Milwaukee Jeff sells are either counterfeit or remanufactured. If someone needs truck pricing explained , just pass on the sale and wait for them to get burned by Amazon.
There have been times when people have been on my truck, scoffed at my pricing, then bought the same items on Amazon... and asked me to take care of defective items under warranty. I declined and told them that they now understand one of the benefits of the tool truck. Plus, there's viewers here who tell me I shouldn't charge as much as I do because Amazon is so much cheaper, as if they know what my costs and margins are. There's just no convincing some folks.
@CoyleTools for those hard to convince , ask if they buy their underwear at goodwill ? You can pinch pennies sure , but you also have to understand what " money well spent " really means. Saving a dime is no savings when you need to spend another dollar 9n the same thing in a month. Again , wish I had a truck like you in central ohio.
@@bh10k17 Goodwill sells underwear and socks. They are brand new. I'm being pedantic but you're being a prick too. I don't save money by spending more of it.
@@jacobjohnson4763 First, name-calling isn't warranted, especially when a comment wasn't directed at you. Second, his point was that you will actually spend more over time to pay for replacements of less expensive tools bought from retailers who don't stand behind their products. Or even worse, from manufacturers who won't stand behind them, either. The larger point is to understand where the value lies when making a purchase and to factor in more than just the cost of the product.
@@CoyleTools Also don't forget the tool truck dealer is extending credit so the tech can make more money on your dime. And most the time the dealer is the last one paid back..
Hello again, Lindsay Thank you for another Great Video 👍 I think you Went more in-depth on this gun. Thank you for the play by play analysis 😊 I can't wait for the next one.
Raven arms went out of business in the early 90's when the factory burned down. Jennings, the owner sold the company to Phoenix Arms which was his children and ex wife. They produced the MP-25 (not the P-25) for a few more years to wit they started to produce the HP-25 which is absolute junk. Made of cast Zamac which is a zinc alloy which can fracture very easily over time. The original MP-25 isn't bad (I'd never own one, I prefer my beretta tomcat oran original PPK) but the "modern" HP-25 is just crap.
@@CoyleTools You're welcome. I ran a shop part time for 12 years. I named it after my wife's nickname and my dog's name, Raven Gunsmith, LLC so I got tons of inquiries on Raven arms MP-25's.
My Mac driver sells just about any other brand like gear wrench and sunnex Astro and gray pneumatic he said he likes to give options he’s more for the customer than a dollar he told me one day be honest how many flat head screws or bolts you see on a car not many so a flat head screwdriver is a punch and chisel and I don’t give damn how you break it I’m gonna give you a new one and carry own with my day
Thank you for your knowledge. I rebuilt my ingersoll rand impact watching this video at my job. It's a work tool and no one has ever serviced it. I'll make sure to take care of this before I end up with one of the cheap junk impacts all these other guys have to use lol
I would say thats what happens when you use chrome sockets on an impact. The impact sockets are made of a softer metal so they don't damage the hardened anvil.
Last time I was looking at flash lights to buy I couldn't find any mechanic style lights that were rechargeable, I may have to look again as I been wanting a intermediate sized pocket flash light for edc. My streamlight is going on 4 years old and ive dropped it many many times on the concrete with no issues. Always get what you pay for.
I just got the Coast spg500 safety glasses with built in light and they are great, perfect for a mechanic like myself. I highly recommend you selling them off your truck, definitely would be a good impulse buy. $40 can't beat it. Jason @ 87 speed shop
I have a gear wrench slide hammer got it on sale on Amazon it’s a nice kit wish I would have saw the K tool kit looks to be a little more versatile with the different length jaws guess I’ll have to get a second one lol
@@earthboundmartian612 wasn’t mad just more upset I didn’t bother to look at other options. To be fair it was an impulse buy/ I needed one like the day prior so I bought it
Hi Coyle, I was wondering if there’s any chance you might be able to share with us the history of the grip latch system on the drawers, like who invented it, and why it is that so few toolboxes have it. About five years ago I bought a craftsman tool chest with their grip latch system. I regard it as the best design ever. I’d like to get another tool chest, but Sears no longer makes their toolboxes with the grip latch system. For the life of me, why did they stop making their toolboxes without the grip latch system? Why did they replace it with a friction type or the self closing type -I hate both of them. It also annoys me that they’re making tool chest in different colors. I would care less about that. The most important part of a tool chest is its ability to hold weight and the ability to open the drawers with the least amount of effort. The drawers are the only moving part in a tool chest That, you would think, should be reliable over the years. For me, and to make an analogy, the grip latch system is like having disc brakes on your car instead of drum brakes. I don’t understand why people buying toolboxes are OK not having grip latch. Presently, I refuse to buy a toolbox without grip latch. Toolbox manufacturers who incorporate a grip latch system are asking a lot of money for those toolboxes but why did they suddenly become so expensive? Craftsman was making them and they were affordable, especially when they were on sale. When craftsman made their toolboxes with the grip latch system, was it a patented idea that was not theirs and it expired? Aside from all this, I’ve lost count how many videos I’ve seen of men and women giving reviews of all manner of tool chest and toolboxes, but only a few mention a grip latch system and they only mention it in passing as if it was a difference that made no difference. But to me, it makes all the difference in a tool chest. Am I the only one who feels this way?
I love my streamlight. Have 3. BUT even though you didnt get the commission, you sold me on the new coast flashlight. The warranty was the tipping point and i couldn't be more pleased. Thank you for the explanation and NOT talking trash. Great videos !
