As I listen to this , I try to imagine what is happening- Are there scenes of the landscape as the train passes or is it the movements of the train? Or both? Is it passing through night and day? Are there scenes of the people boarding, inside or as they depart? I want to see this in a video
English Heritage must be one of the finest works for brass band by my dear friend George Lloyd (yes, really, my wife and I knew George and his wife Nancy very well). In my time I have played cornet, flugel (my favourite) tenor horn, baritone and euphonium but never ever anywhere near the standard of bands such as this one. What a joy to listen with thee score in front of me.
I love this piece of music and we are rehearsing it with the band I play for now . One question is what are the little things that are clipped to the bell of the cornets ? I've never seen them before . Many thanks .
Great sound especially in the horn lead in the Coralle. A great piece and good test for the lower grades, testing intonation and ensemble cohesiveness.
I think it's a great performance with a high level of understanding of the music If you don't mind, please listen to this performance. It was performed by the Symphonic Band of ENGARU High School in Hokkaido, Japan in 1995. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MUj04IwYDQs.html
Just saw a high school wind ensemble absolutely rock this piece and had to look into it. Cheers Albany for your exceptional music program from elementary to high school!
I played this when I was in my teens in a brass band competition. I was on Repiano Cornet. Brass banding is still alive here in Australia. We have our national competition in a few days.
Looks like the screaming in the end BEFORE the last note upset the soprano player. Maybe that's why he missed it. Pity. Audience should stay fair but I know it's common practice in Brass Band competitions to scream into the last chord
@@explodingsausage6576 We'll never know. Playing on this level is like sports. To hit a top note the player needs full focus and distractions of any kind won't be helpful
@lalalalelele1189 No, they just need to not take unnecessary risks. This guy knew the risks and still went for it. A good player doesn't blame the audience for missing a note (this guy doesn't either, you made that up)
Brassband Willebroek is amazing! Oh how I would love to hear a brassband of such skill as this in person! Brassbands are not popular in America, so I have not had the opportunity to hear one live. And while I am a trombonist and have heard some great concert bands and orchestras in my time, I have not jumped the pond yet to hear what Europe has to offer. Keep showcasing greatness, and best of luck to the band and everyone in it!
