What many people who know nothing about meat (or animals for that matter) fail to realize is that the animal's well-being is in the best interest of the farmers from a profit perspective. If an animal lives a high-stress lifestyle, then it's meat quality will decrease. Therefore, it stands to reason that a healthy and happy animal will be far more profitable as it's meat will be higher quality.
Very true but it’s a balance of give and take. Higher quality means more space and resources for the same amount of meat. Large scale like this is trying to achieve a demanded amount of meat for a lower cost. It sucks because as clean as everything looks in the video, I wish the pigs had more space in their pens and a softer surface to walk on
In a perfect world, yes you would be correct. But being that a LARGE amount of this meat production is contracted to Fast Food chains, who care NOTHING about where their meat comes from or how it was raised.....or even how it tastes (they can "fix" the flavor by using additives) They only care about how cheap they can get it. THIS is where this type of farming operation gets ugly....very ugly. Sure, the farm used here in this video I'm sure is producing healthy, high quality pork. Kudos to them! But for every 1 like this, there are probably 5 that are absolutely deplorable. And I'm not implying either way that specifically Smithfield has anything to do with farms like that. But the fact remains, way too many of them do exist.
Your bacon sux every time i buy bacon from u its labeled thick cut but its the thinnest cut possible its so thin it falls apart evry slice is a different thickness such a poor product you guys should be embarrassed

This is nice compared to so many large-scale operations. I would feel good about eating pork raised on farms like these. Now, if a system where slaughter would be less brutal to the pigs you'd be super-ok in my book.
