Hey! Isn't the new balance mod part of the Gothic Returning 2.0 mod? From what I recall. I am considering doing a Returning Playthrough after this one, but I'll put it up to the community poll, will list a few mods and let the people decide!
@@Adrians_Stories New Balance contains the Returning 2.0 mod, I would not play vanilla Returning 2.0 mod because it takes a lot of time craft/trade/update stuff.
Akils exp isn't small. 5:48 it's chapter dependant. it's chapter times 50 If you were to delay this quest till chapter 3 you get 150 for telling Mika Now why 3 not 5 because their is another chapter dependant quest for drinking at the latest time you can start it is in chapter 3. And to talk to randolph about it you need to kill the 2 mercs :) The trick is to kill them without anybody dying and letting Akil/Mika talk to you (they will automatically want to start conversation). What you want to do is avoid this and instead talk to Randolph and go away and get back to them in chapter 5 :) This will yield you 250 exp from Mika and 250 exp from Akil :)
@@janstanek9375 Sounds like a random encounter hmmm. I'll try to see if I can get it. If it is time based, I might have missed it. I did find the body of a novice inside the cave where we find the Crystal Golem under the monastery ( bounty ).
Fantastic episode, I love to watch such gameplays on Sunday morning and well, it's the Chronicles of Myrtana after all :D You will have only a few episodes left if you decide to rush the main quest but if you do all the sidequests then, oh well, you'll have plenty of material in the city and around :D A good place to start now is to read a book that you've got from Riordian and Kessel called "Corridors of Vardhal", then talk to Riordian and then explore the basement/underground section of the Monastery. You'll get some nice lore about Vardhal and a very helpful book!
Thanks man! Already got the books, but seems that Riordian doesn't have any aditional dialogue after reading said books. I did get the gist we'll be able to craft something perhaps in Vardhal? Right now I am casually doing all the random encounters and sidequests that are left then will most likely clear my inventory of trash and see what we can buy. I plan to enter Vardhal as a poor poor Marvin :)
Sadly you did not sweep the floor of Kurt´s hut therefore you did not find Jorn´s aquamarine ring for additional dialoge with Kessel .... would clear a lot of things and also provide more info why everything happened.
Huh. I figured out Jorn was somehow connected to the ring of water but ... hmmm... I wonder if I can sweep the hut in chapter 5 and find the ring. Thanks for the tip!
Seems the trigger has been disabled. I did manage to find the ring in the item files but kessel has no dialogue about it. Guess I missed that window of opportunity. Archolos has a lot of secrets!
Poor cat! I hope all will be well and I'm glad he is semi-okay :D And you've probably figured it out, but all the quests related to gathering tools and ingredients involve using scrolls (the door underground and the big rat) :D Thank you for a nice episode and the whole series!
Thank you! Yeah found the cat, he's fine, will post an update a few episodes later but he had surgery and is recovering now. Yep figured out the enlarge monster one and a creative way to bypass the mage guard underground tee-hee!
This is a very confusing guide, Steam creates a folder for G2 Gold and another for Archolos, where am I supposed to install everything? And Why do I need to re-download Archolos if steam does it for you?
Hey there! Apologize if the guide is not all that clear. If you want to manually install Archolos, all the files can be installed in the Gothic 2 folder as shown in the video. My guess is that Steam simply chooses to make a different folder that contains both G2 Gold and Archolos in that folder. I have personally not used the steam install version since I had the game from GOG.
@@Adrians_Stories Couldn't make the manual installation work, but Steam installation did the trick (yes, Steam creates a folder with both G2 and Archolos). And for some reason the D3D11 manual installation didn't work as explained in the video (or I totally missplaced the files), but a version from another website "GD3D11-git" worked fine :) It's not your fault, this game is a pain to install and GitHub stuff is always a pain to read/make it work as well.
Thank you for the comment man! Yeah history as they say rhymes a lot. It's kind of difficult to see an example of a nation that rose to prosperity without warring, abusing or otherwise trampling other groups of people. Especially when sometimes it was their own people. It's easy to see the cathedrals and spires of mythical status in history but even easier to ignore the toil of the poorly paid (if at all) builders who made the damn things.

Well to be fair, a lot of video games reuse the same character model and facial features due to budget limitations. For the original gothic 1, it's kinda difficult to differentiate one swamp camp templar from another or different mercs from each other since most of them used 1-2 character models. I'm assuming at least for this teaser trailer they look similar to each other but or the remake they will do some more animation / character tweaks. (fingers crossed) For weapon types, we gotta wait a bit more. The general vibe I got from the discord chat last week is that we might get a similar system to G1 aka same animation types regardless of weapon used. You either have 1h weapon animations or 2handed weapon animations. We'll have to see which way they choose to go.

idk why people praise this game and consider it a true gothic game , when i first tried it and got to the first village i tried to explore a bit and i got TELEPORTED , black screen and moved back into the whatev building i didnt like this at all

Aye, all the more reason to fight back before the situation becomes so entrenched on the corporations side that it will take 50 years just to have the rights we should be having right now. The EU isn't perfect, I'll be the first to admit it. But if we look at its track history, it hasn't shied from tackling giants like Apple or Amazon for their anti consumer practices. It might not be the hero we want right now, but it's the hero we need. We either give in to apathy and inaction which realistically is the greatest ally to corporations that want to do whatever they want without any consequences or we try. The battle is far from over. It's the same battle we've fought for 40 hours weeks, the same battle we fought for sick leave and over time pay, the same battle we fought for health insurance and medical leave. Right now the same battle spills over to a new ground, the digital rights and consumer protection against corporate greed and malicious practices.

0:17 "...also let's talk about what they're NOT showing..." - there reason why it's 45 minutes video 😆 Before this trailer, I was very skeptical about the Gothic Remake. After I watched it, I was less skeptical. Then I realized it's been 5 years since the playable teaser, and now I'm very skeptical again 😃 Actually, I hope they don't expand the Colony. It's so much work to keep NPC behavior reasonable and still authentic even in such a small area. If I understand correctly, they should also expand the side quests after chapter 2 (which were cancelled and rushed in the original game). So the evolution, changes & fights between camps will need to be properly grasped. I honestly don't care about the graphics and effects at all. NPC design and level design will be crucial. Magic looks ok for me. The combat system doesn't look bad according to the trailer. I like the slow-paced style quite a bit. I think it's more down-to-earth, more personal and therefore more realistic. Also looks like leveling progression will be included. 7:21 "Unprecedented freedom" is a mistranslation I suppose, more probably should have meant "unconventional freedom" or something like that (unless it wrote really someone who knows nothing about Gothic, as you say) Anyway, I like these pre-war discussions 😃 They're all just hypotheticals until we finally play it.
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames I really hope they'll add some scenes or quests where we can participate on raids vs other camps. Back in Gothic 1 there was a New Camp quest that alluded to Gorn participating in a raid on a convoy but we never really got to see it other than getting some booty at the end. I do hope they will try to avoid the "RNG quest giver" trope where we'll have procedurally generated quest just for filler.

Actually Vatras will always take your old stone tablets, even after the circle of the sun, as long as you have at least one ability stone tablet in your inventory,
Weird, it didn't happen in my recently playthrough. After Vatras went to the circle, the dialogue option to give him tablets went poof. But then again I didn't have any ability tablets so probably that's why. Good to know, thank you!
My headcanon is that Valentino forcibly "inherited" this house and its riches and that skeleton might have been a relative of his which he trapped in that secret room. Environmental storytelling basically.
I don't know, I wouldn't call that everyone. I was surprised to find out that Lobart gave you cheaper clothes when you sided for the peasants or that two plants actually spawn in after talking to Zuris. That seems pretty obscure info and I'm pretty sure not all new players will figure those out.

I would even say it's possible to get here 04:19 without Marvin, but I couldn't because I didn't actually know about it 😀 But I believe that wherever such loot is found, it should be available naturally. However, realistically I'm excited about this game again, that even after 20+ years there's something there that I've never found after literally dozens of playthroughs. What a masterpiece it was, man. To this day, no one has ever made a better RPG than Gothic trilogy.
@@OldNerdPlayingOldPCGames I used free cam mode to look around that area and other than cheats I didn't find a way around. Maybe if you force your way up there by creating an artificial ladder using "weeds" is the solution. I know in Gothic Chronicles of Myrtana you can climb certain items you drop, like weeds. Might be the solution or I am over complicating the situation. If you figure out a way up there, let me know! Yeah Gothic has a bunch of hidden gems, it really was a product of love and passion.

Well to be honest, not everyone has played Gothic 1 or Gothic 2 before Archolos. I am sure 99% of the playerbase of Archolos has played Gothic 2 at least once before installing Chronicles of Myrtana. Plus there's also that unknown factor, people might have played just Gothic 2 and Gothic 3 but ever the first game.
The first one and the Ezio games were the best imho. Afterwards it just became a soulless franchise, pumping out a game per year. Black flag was ok, but it was more a pirate game than an AC game. I guess Ubisoft embraced the bad definition of "Nothing is true, everything is permitted."
8:09 I'm very good, I was playing Assassin's creed Valhalla, but I was already bored, the map is very large and the only secondary thing is to open chests and some very small missions of no more than 3 minutes, the map is very empty in my opinion I don't think I will finish it to play, but I always go back to the binding of isaac repetance if I find it very entertaining and how are you? There has been no news lately about the gothic remake
It's a general design philosophy these days isn't it? Companies making huge open maps but they are just empty and lifeless. Besides some main questing hubs you just sort of enjoy the scenery and that's about it. It's why I kept coming back to the Gothic series throughout the years. Small map but packed with so much content! And that has an interesting psychological side effect, where you learn the map, become familiar with the paths and feels like a living world through each chapter.
20:07 Well, they are old, outdated, but they are in sync with everything, it is a beauty of its own. I honestly prefer them rather than gothic 3 graphics.
They have their own artstyle and that's what makes them timeless. Kind of like games similar to Worms Armageddon or Hollow Knight. Artstyle > graphical fidelity. Good or unique artstyle makes any game eternal.
In the works. My old SSD got friend and currently am waiting on a data recovery lab to tell me what can be saved or not. I might have to redo the archolos playthrough (off screen) so we can get back on track.
