The compact/foldable suitcases are definitely convenient but I wouldn’t recommend overloading it with heavy items because you will be bearing the brunt of the weight. I packed some heavy things in mine and almost threw my back out lugging it across the airport 😩 For that type of suitcase I would pack it for volume and not for it to hit the weight limit.
