The sideways slides at 2:00 and 2:45! The one-handed spin at 3:38! Amazing control and precision-and in a tandem canoe, no less. That’s a lot of boat to do something so graceful in! Bravo!
The moment he just nods, the magic just happens. My only regret? I wish he had a red canoe and not a green one. But they say perfection is a flaw any ways.
This is Canadian style, done from a fixed position in a 17' tandem. Of course his moves aren't as tight and the flow as smooth as those of the world champion of American style paddling a 13' x 28" solo boat.
He needs more variety in his routine. Get that boat off it's side a little bit if you would like more gnar points. You could tell he was nervous because the flair just isn't there. Marc Ornstein is an absolute gangster because you can tell he ain't never scared. I know, I know...Marc Ornstein casts a large shadow shadow in the freestyle paddling community, but a kid can dream!
Marc Ornstein does American style, using a tiny 13'x32" canoe and using all of it. The reason this guy isn't good enough for you is that he's demonstrating Canadian style, with a 17'x36" boat and no seat.
I don’t know what to say about this video as I just fell into the freestyle canoe rabbit hole on RU-vid about 10 mins ago. I didn’t even know this was a thing.
I have that canoe and never thought of paddling it freestyle! I also have a have a dedicated freestyle boat (Pat Moore design) and can't perform with even half that much finesse. Bravo!
