Excellent. Been there several times this video really shows the old movie sites. Wife and I just discovered this video and we were totally impressed with Mr Hollands passion to locate filming sites. I'm sorry to see Mr Holland died so long ago. The lone pine film festival and the museum are fabulous. R.I.P. SIR

I'm surprised how many of these movie tours don't mention the film possibly better known than any of the others: The Great Race. There's a scene where they're towing their car with horse and come upon the beautiful Natalie Wood sitting on a large rock. I was very happy to find it, given that it's one of my favorite films, and took a picture of my truck, towing my race car, so there was a bit of a link, though small:)

I returned to Lone Pine some time after this video was shot to attend the 100th birthday celebration of William Boyd. His widow, Grace Boyd was there along with 2 of his sidekicks still living Rand Brooks and Jimmy Rogers (son of Will Rogers.) Dave Holland was the MC during the event.

That was down in a small canyon in the Alabama Hills. Dave told me all of the debris dumped down there were from the movie companies. The car could have been used in a scene. It was so long ago I can not remember the exact location but should be not too hard to find.

Wow! This is so incredible on so many levels! Since hummers are anti social, the most common to see happening if more than one hummer is at a feeder are high speed chases...second is that they dont pair after breeding so they're not like some species who mate for life. The old saying "it's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog" has got to be the most appropriate way to describe these beautiful creatures. It was awesome catching that on film and getting to see it.

@dlrecital1

The male was actually attacking the female. I'm a licensed hummingbird rehabber. We see that behaviors frequently in our aviaries and on our outside feeders. Please shoot away the aggressors when you see that happen in the future. I know you must love hummingbirds to provide them the feeder. The feeders must be free of mold growth by scrubbing and cleaning at least twice a week. They contract slowly and deadly fungal infection that will eat up their mandible, nasal cavity, and eye sockets.

Everytime i shoot a video on my Fujifilm HS50 exr and its time to edit it its a problem. when i place the SDHC card into my laptop (Windows 8) i can see the photos and videos. When i click on the videos which say Quick Time Movie next to it, it says its not able to open this type of file. Only windows media player seems to convert the file in a mp4 file or whatever and its able to open but the quality of the video becomes terrible. can you help me please? i just wanted to know what mode i can shoot in

Good price if you can still find one. I would recommend the Canon SX60 of SX50 over the Fuji HS50EXR. And now I have been using the Panasonic DMC-FZ1000 bridge camera. The best yet for all of the features and picture quality it provides. But you can not compare the SX510 with it. Two different ballgames.

@deadwood1887
@deadwood1887 10 лет назад
Now the brand new released Panasonic DMC-FZ1000 puts them both on the back burner. It has real manual focus with automatic focus peaking that really works. Not to mention 4K video. Still and video images sharp even out to the full 400mm. I've waited over a year for Canon to lead with a SX60, but nothing so far. I jumped ship and went to Panasonic for what I believe to be the best bridge camera out there, bar none. Lots of new videos using the FZ1000 coming out on RU-vid.
@deadwood1887
@deadwood1887 10 лет назад
I used manual focus in this video as I had the time to zero in on the pile of seeds. The Fuji has a real focus ring like any DSLR cameras. The SX50 you first have to select Func and then select Manual. To fine focus you then use the wheel on the back of the camera.
@deadwood1887
@deadwood1887 10 лет назад
That is where the Fuji camera shines. The SX50 has a horrible manual focus and I consider it unusable.
@jolivre
@jolivre 10 лет назад
I'd agree with you, Jerry. The manual focus is absolutely useless on the Canon. Can't fault the image quality, though.
