Oh wow...i remember when i've found this gem. I felt so lucky. I even talked with Fursey about it, when he was playin a show in vienna with alcest back in 2008 or so. I think he said, that Winterhalter was playing drums on it! Thanks for keeping this musical treasure alive!
For anyone who is stumbling across this piece of history here, i feel like is needed to mention that this so called "ep" wasn't some kind of unreleased ep, nor some kind of self published release, it was a collection of tracks that someone ,whose identity remain anonymous, picked up from Fursy's myspace, even he stated "IMPORTANT: At this time, no release from Les Discrets has been released. A so-called EP seems to have been released in 2007, but the musician himself even doesn't know it! This "EP" you can download on web blogs, portals, p2p clients is a fake, a poor rip of Myspace draft songs that were at time on that page. The so-called cover is actually a shot from my animated short film that i used as Myspace main picture. Nothing to do with a cover!! The first release of Les Discrets will be an album that will be recorded from the 1st to 19th June in Drudenhaus Studio in France, and it will be released via Prophecy Productions in Autumn 2009. Until then, enjoy Myspace :-) www.lesdiscrets.com Teyssier Fursy" So that is why in the comments you find people that say they have this but with one or more tracks. Anyways, it's a little nice piece of history, maybe we can call it a "ghost EP".
Me too, i started to watch every neige and fursy interview online and couldn't find anything, the only information I have are on The Metal Archives, and I think the only Phest cd's that exist are in the band members possession and probably will not show them. A behaviour that repeated cause Fursy stated that he has a clip of the first (and only I think) Amesoeurs show and openly said he wouldn't show it, probably because it was bad :), but it would be nice to have the materials mentioned above, it can fill some gaps really well
Sitting here at night listening to this album for the first time in years. I listened to this day in day out back in 2007-2009 or so. The music itself obviously is already very nostalgic but if you have listened to these songs 13 years ago and then come back to them it adds to the nostalgic feeling in a way that is difficult to describe. Nostalgia is such an amazing emotion. Nothing feels depressing and joyful at the same time like it does. All I know is I want to go back and live youth again.
I remember discovering Fursy, and Neige, and Audrey and all the various projects back around 2007 as well, at the same time I was way into Blut Aus Nord, and other French projects, the whole French scenes are amazing, very eclectic, and ambient in all regards. They had a great sound all together, but this first demo is great. I love when musicians are able to be a one-man band, I love all types of one/two-man bands from all over Europe.
For those really interested in it, this EP came with 3 more tracks. 5. Urban Disease (Unfinished): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RyBGgG_lZpk.html 6. Sur les quais (Demo) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_jTwZCg_qSE.html 7. Winter Wonderland (Demo) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PLmfxa59j9A.html
I really don't know what even happened after this. These songs are better than most of the songs he released after this. Kinda bizarre. I have a version of this on my harddrive that also has a 5th song called "Urban Disease (Unfinished)".
@@greatcoldemptiness No, it ain't. It lacks the touch, feel, atmosphere and sheer emotions that those earlier albums flowed with. I tried listening to it multiple times, but it just doesn't cut it for me, I'm sorry. Just seems an album devoid of substance and direction. Pretty dry tbh.
I just discovered this jewel of Fursy's. I had forgotten a beautiful dream I had last night, and THIS version of Song for Mountains unblocked it's vivid details...
