On this channel, I try to find cheaper or more value for money alternatives to everyday items that my fellow guitar players purchase, also to also dispel some popular myths about guitars and related products. I DO NOT SELL ANYTHING so my reviews are not biased in any way.

I bought 3 quad rail/coil humbuckers from Amazon to load into the custom Strat Based guitar build/mod I call the "Stellarcaster" I started with a cheap Chinese made Starcaster, Strat electric guitar By: Fender (said that right on the head stock)... these Hummers average out at 18.5 K 0hms DC resistance each they have 4 wires _start and finish for each pair of rails/coils with 3 strong ceramic 1/4 square X 3" long magnets between the rails plus a braded ground wire as well I mounted then into the custom hand made extended Brushed Stainless Steel Pick guard and wired them up like 50'd Les Paul with P/P Volume pots and another P/P pot in the bridge tone position to activate the bridge and neck P/ups together regardless of any other controls 3 pairs of potd in this monster I call the "Stellarcaste" 3 humms , 3 P/P vol. 3 tone all 500K audio taper pots it all plays together nicely and sounds interstellar a cool stars and Planets space theme paint scheme using spray cans and airbrushed detailing with silver micro glitter lightly scattered covered lightly with Dark blue spray paint also used along with black spray paint as the base a few airbrushed comets and twinkly stars for the totally cool looing custom paint job on the body and headstock.. finisher with a 2K semi gloss clearcoat... it boasts roller saddles and a full size brass trem block in the bridge roller string trees a Titanium nut and locking tuners all the knobs are 'Tele' styls chrome knobs and a chrome tip on the Fender 5-way blade selector switch, and a kill button just for more fun,, I didn't even try to count the tone variations available in this monster I have created from my own imagination and niw a reality.. a very cool beautiful, great feeling and playing guitar I designed and built to my designs and taste.. ... My "Stellarcaster" feels great in the hands plays and sounds great this C totally Custom Monster of a Guitar really rocks the Cosmos for sure........ Wanna Play???
As a bedroom player only I don't even put mine on the board. It's too heavy and takes up too much space plus I don't use it enough. It's off to the side and I only plug it in if I need it.
Blue or purple Loctite is your friend here. Not permanent, but a little more security that screws (you couldn't find spares for) don't fall out between home and gig.
I bought such a guitar, the frets are uneven, I will have to take the guitar to a luthier, and I also had to pay 73 € in douane. the body of the guitar is narrower and the guitar is much lighter than a real Gibson. the workmanship is great.
I am a little concerned about the Logo from memory I have heard that UK Customs seize them as counterfeit goods State side never any problems maybe some of your people could advise .Thanks and keep up the good work.
I bought a Chibson for 4 grand, but when it arrived it actually said "Gibson"! Of course I sent it back because they sent me a fake, and told them I wanted the real thing. That's a lot of money. Luckily they apologized for their mistale and sent me a real Chibson
I just received my Chibson Black beauty les paul and I got the same set up really good and feels great fret ends perfect action excellent. I also think I'm going to go with Iron Gear pick ups hung up between Blues engine and Dirty torques. what do you think about dirty torque for bridge and blues engine for neck ?
dude i totally know this for a fact the quality is amazing and for the money it is mindblowing i bought a murphy lab les paul with their heavy relic it was the 1959 Les Paul Standard M2M Iguana Burst Ultra Heavy Aged and immediately returned it because it was 12 k euro something in dollar around 14 k and the quality was laughable the paint flaked off i mean i played for years custom shops fender strats and had non of these problems always good sounding and the paint was solid forget this company their good years are over
I love my DSL 40C! These things benefit hugely from a speaker upgrade. I put a vintage Celestion G12K85 in mine, sounds monstrous! Totally got rid of the high end fizz which is a common complaint about these things. Not sure why some guys complain about the reverb which sounds great with gain on this amp, just the right touch of it. If you want a Fender sounding tank style reverb buy a Fendery amp. Marshall amps except for their old 80's solid state amps never had reverb.
Hi Dave. Turning the pick-up round doesn’t achieve the out of phase sound. Peter, famously, had the (failed) neck pickup rewound at Sound City, or somewhere, in the ‘60s. The ‘tech’(?) wound it ‘the wrong way’ - the fact he put it back upside down, was incidental. So, to get the ‘out of phase’ sound the pick-up must be MADE reversed… even Vintage - I owned one momentarily - manage to do that, Trev Wilkinson’s Asian people wound, or wind, the neck pickups for them specially.
There's a lot of hate out there for these guitars but just take them for what they are. Affordable, playable, aesthetically pleasing, whichever category is important to you. I know the logo thing is "contentious" but that seems to be a problem mainly for our American counterparts who all seem to have bought one (for investigative reasons, obviously 😊). I'm not sure that Gibson is going to lose many sales due to the existence of these instruments, not really the same customer base I'd have thought. Equally unsure if China is going to lose any sleep over any copyright infringement concerns, probably not high on their list of global concerns at the moment. Just my thoughts and opinions, feel free to disagree.
I’ve got the Epi version of this SG and it has the same issues except mine doesn’t neck dive. Did you adjust the pickup poles up or did it come to you like that?
Im refretting a 80s takamine gx 200t. Its my first refret, ive been wondering since the fretboard fret ends are filled should i just saw through them and fill them later or try to keep the old fillings? Im gonna nib the fret tang at the ends anyways few of the fillings just came off when i removed the old frets. Its a rosewood fretboard with laquer finish on the sides.
If you are wondering what the difference is between a "fret puller" tool and "mini end cut pliers" it is simple. The guitar tool is twice the price. Otherwise they are identical.
Just built up a 'greeny' LP with seymour duncan custom shop greeny pickups(MJ!). Fret nibs, great action, gibson/tonepro style bridge. I did perform fret leveling on a few frets and polished them - plays better than some of my $1000+ guitars.
I spotted a LP style guitar on amazon & it was their very last one so, I past on it. The next morning I woke up, turned on the TV & saw the very same video which drew me to that maker, Bullfighter guitars on amazon. I did not find the guitar I was looking for but the Lp styled guitar caught my attention so, the next morning when it was still available, I immediately purchased it & Man am I GLAD I DID! 1 knock against it- it does not have the thumb wheels & it has metal tuners rather then the tuners on a real deal Lp but hey, I can easily upgrade em if ever needed. I've noticed the name Bullstar Bullfighter sb series lp stle sunburst ms-lp (red). After the cost of the guitar & tax & s/h it came to a whopping $150.00. & I am very pleased with this Bullfighter sb series lp style guitar! Now I want their other models!!!
That's the wonders of CN'C machining. Of course not all of them are good. But I have always said that when you don't go for the super cheap stuff you can get amazing quality for the money. Just like in the 80s with the Japanese. Everyone laughed until they overtook us.
My Chibson 57 futura is my best playing guitar, and I own two Gibsons and pride myself on my setups… it’s kinda annoying how remarkable it plays I can’t put it down… kinda don’t know what to do lol. I honestly thought it would be a wall hanger and it’s my absolute favorite. The quality and playability is through the roof. It’s so slinky and effortless to play… I just can’t stress enough how much I love this guitar
That’s what I like to believe when seeing those videos and reviews like yours. I don’t care about brands I just want a nice 80’s Explorer but not the way Gibson makes them now. I have an eye on one seller on Ebay that sells ESP MX220/250 versions… the videos I’ve seen so far put a BEAUTIFUL light and sound on this guitars!
I've had two Gibson Les Pauls over the years, and got rid of them both because they never stay in tune, and the pain quality wasn't all their. However I own about six chibsons, and I hate to say that the quality in some cases is better than the actual Gibsons I had. That is sad! I paid $2,800 for one of those Les Paul's and the quality was mediocre
I'd be interested in buying one of these....to be honest I'd be happy if is didn't say Gibson but I like the idea of picking up a fairly reasonable copy at a good price. The Epiphone Greenie is getting into Gibson prices. As always, I'm hesitant because of the weight issue of Les Pauls ....some are absolute boat anchors and no fun to play standing up.
@@whyis45stillalive I’ve seen a lot of Kirk live fails since he switched guitar. He used to play strictly ESPs and now he has a heavy brick of a Les Paul to deal with, that also probably has a thick ol’ neck. I don’t understand why he even went this route, would have made more sense if he bought the Frankenstrat.
