Noooo. You salute the uniform, not the individual. As an inactive duty OR, I am embarrassed at the thought of another officer acting like an A-hole. The sentry could have asked the purpose of his visit, and made him wait (which is what he deserved) a long long time.
Nice smile but my dad would never demand a salute retired or not. They would look at his sticker on his car at the gate and salute him but he would never ask for it.
Yeah, we have few Officers who got that attitude. Those who were enlisted prior usually has the right mindset. Funny, in the desert or combat, you dont want to salute the officers. Because as we all know, enemy wants to take out the highest ranking officer.
If you're reading this "Mr. Retired" Your entitled and rude disrespect towards that active duty gate guard is unacceptable. Just because you're a civilian doesn't give you any rights or cause for a salute. I hope you learned a valuable lesson.
This was a skit, the retired officer is a jerk, make note and move on if you felt necessary for a salute that isn’t required, the sentry was IMO out of line. Very today and disrespectfully lacking professionalism by engaging in banter with the retired officer. Yes, respect is earned and that is why we as active component should salute a retired officer. If one confronted me regarding his homers, I would give them and send them on their way to prevent conflict and to maintain the security and integrity of my post!!! Yes I am retired as well and do not expect anything but do appreciate when they greet me with my rank 🫡
Nope. This guard will be replaced. Whether the officer was rude or not is inconsequential. he shouldn't be arguing, and he certainly shouldn't be escorting the officer off the base. It's not his call, and he'll soon find that out.
I remember leaving a year long deployment and had to get on an air force bird to take us to Germany.. seeing the air force women with their makeup on and earrings in and if I recall correctly ponytails at that time too it was like seeing a woman for the first time 😂😂 she was probably real world 6 but at that moment she was a dime and I would have given her everything in my pants it ain’t much but it’s mine! 😂
That’s how America works. Chances are given to obey what’s asked of you. Period. The more we all re-learn respect, the better the world will be. Love this.!
Military salute is almost general all over the world. To salute means you great and respect the other one, not just because he/she is a soldier. And its not just the salute. Don't put hands in pockets.
The salute is a sign of respect between warriors. After two wars and a terrorist bombing, I know *I'm* a warrior. Not ao sure about some of these kids.
Definitely an Air Force thing because they still salute you in the Army after you're retired...out of respect. Army Retirees do not hassle for the salute but are given it regardless at the gate.
