No problemo! It's a super easy trail (basically just a gravel road) and plenty of room. There's tons of campsites and they're all right on the side of the trail.
@@richardli8634 you'll be fine at sugar tree! Check out my video from Pedlar River as well. I think you'd be good to go there as well, and there's also good campsites
Haha, actually, should’ve waiting for the very end of the video. Saw the road signs you showed at the end and found it in the map. Not too far out from me, may make the drive out from Richmond to hit the trail and camp a night.
@@DefiantOffroad the problem is without paved roads or cell towers few people will go there. they don't feel safe enough. I'm a state resident and almost no one goes there unless they live nearby which is a shame because we need accessable open space since we are densely populated. I don't think having clear paved roads, lighting, good signage and cell towers in case there is an emergency will ruin the forest.
Generally speaking, no. There are areas that dispersed camping is allowed, though. You would be better off going to the National Forest website and looking up the regulations there.
Just stumbling onto your channel and enjoying it as a new subscriber. I plan on spending some time in the GWNF when I finish building my Kei truck camper. That would be after my broken foot is healed up by the end of summer. At least I have good RU-vid content to watch until then.
@@DefiantOffroadI’m out of Lawsonville, NC a couple of hours away. I normally run through on the parkway each spring taking a little trip but now I want to explore the forest.
I kind of got behind on watching some channels and haven't been by yours in a couple of months. Holy cow, this was good! I'm super excited to see you starting to do multi-day trips (not that the day trip trails aren't great).
Thanks! I'm glad to see you're still around! Novsight has hooked me up with so much great camping stuff, that I figured I should actually put it to good use!
320k is something that jeep owners aren't familiar with... sorry some of us don't have minivan motors in our jeeps 😂😂😂 Inline 6 for the win! Sorry to comment only negativity... been loving watching your videos for the last few weeks
It's all good! Defiant is at 158k now, with 115k of that coming in the last three years, so she's getting up there fast. That minivan motor has already had the top end replaced under warranty though for the dreaded "Pentastar Tick". Andy's Xterra is nothing short of impressive with regards to its durability. I remember when it was still under factory warranty! We just got done overhauling the Xterra some more, so the next video it's in, it'll have all-new toys on it!
Loved the night drone shots 😀 Sitting on an interstate in an overlandd sucks 😕 During our spring migration north this year we had been camping just off 121 so i took it north instead of the interstates and it's mostly 2 lanes and small tows. In NC it made a turn i missed just before I-26 😞 In the fall going south i need to make time for the Georgia Tranvers 😀
Thanks for the kind words! Sitting in traffic is one of the worst things in the world to me. I ended up hopping off the interstate and making my way along the back roads (some clips of that are in the video). You should definitely check out the traverse at some point. It was worth the trip!
I miss this area. Love seeing it again, through your lens. Waking up in the rain in the forest is one of the best feeling of camping, packing up camp, not so much 😂
This came out great! I know from our past conversations that you don't regard yourself as a "storyteller", but you're better at that aspect of it than you give yourself credit for!
@DefiantOffroad let me know if you'd like a map. I followed the map available online, but added a ton of camp spots with pictures, gas stops and where you can expect cell signals.
Wonderful video! I've never been on the traverse, per se, but I've spent some time around Warwoman WMA. That whole area is amazing. There's no shortage of mountain lakes and rivers to take a dip in!
Thanks! I wanted to take a dip in one of those rivers so bad, but were short on time. I'm for sure going to go back soon to poke around the area more. Warwoman is on my short-list!
There's a few along the trail, but I don't remember where they are off the top of my head. Check the Canaan Loop. It's only about 20 minutes from canyon rim, and the first half of the trail (or second half, depending on which way you go) has a ton of dispersed sites along it
If you use the app you can change the charging method and it'll charge in 1hr, but that should only be done for emergencies. The normal charge rate should be most of the time.
There were couple dumb looking SOBs driving around in an older dodge ram in the Washington National forest area I visited couple months back. Had to scream to let them know there are people out there.
@@DefiantOffroad I forgot to mention that they were shooting from atop the mountain as well as across the lake. It wouldn’t be an issue if people didn’t camp around the mountain and the lake.
I totally did. You're the first person to catch that slip-up (or least the first that felt the need to comment on it). I think we all know that it's the front.
I dont know if ive read it wrong on the Renogy website, but according to the specs, there is very little difference in power generation between the 200w and 400w panels. Im trying to decide which one to get.
I just checked back on your channel. I believe I met you just after you guys broke camp on day 2 I was the guy in the 04 Grand Cherokee with the roof rack and limb risers. If your back in this area and you hit Little Irish Creek Rd and your going from the Reservoir up to the Park Way if you keep your eyes out there is stone stacked walls beside the creek on both sides of the road keep a close look out and there is a Mining entrance across the creek on the left. We found it in the fall when the leaves wasn’t out there’s a lot of history back up in those mountains . Also do you know what the brand of swing out tire carrier was on the Grand Cherokee you showed in your video I’m looking for one to put on mine. Thanks and hope we run into each other again.
Hey, man! I definitely remember that WJ! I'll definitely add that area to my list of places to check out. I just finished up the Georgia Traverse yesterday, so I have a lot of video to edit and then some maintenance and repairs to do on the Jeep. It'll probably be at least a few weeks before I head out again. I'll find out about that tire carrier on Jamie's WJ.
I am one of those hunters. I have modified my 26 foot travel trailer to hold up to doing this. Most of the trailers you see are not set up properly for this and sustain damage as a result.
There's plenty of side trails that are soft sand and some with muddy areas, but Ocala NF is really more about exploring the hundreds of miles of trails.
