Lived on the third floor on School St. and Ravenswood saw the smoke and got on our bikes and took off to it. As a ten year old it was quite amazing. Also remember when Belmont Bowl burned that was only a few blocks from home. All those old wood structures didn’t have a chance once they started.

I remember seeing the smoke from a third floor apartment at Irving and Ashland as a 7 year old.

I went to the Morton Grove place when I was a kid several times.

I lived on Belmont and Whipple and was talking with a friend at my front gate when the first puff of smoke hit the air. Truck companies were already rolling from the Elston and Roscoe firehouse to the scene. Within 5 minutes that rink was well on its way with fire. There was this soot from the smoke that was covering everything. I went inside the place a number of times but never skated. That was the last straw for Riverview the only building that stood there since the park was demolished.

I grew up in that neighborhood and skated at the rinks all the time. My mom made matching skating skirts for my sister & I. They had 2 rinks, one for adults & faster skaters and another that was "the kiddie rink" with side bar rails for smaller kids & slower skaters. I used to go between the two all the time. They also had a great concession stand too. We had just left the rink shortly before the fire broke out. I was heartbroken. I have so many memories of good times there.

My father was a rink guard at Riverview during the mid 1930's. I skated there and won a "Backwards Race". The prize was a steam iron!!

Lived on Kedzie and Irving Park till 1970. Was a regular patron at Riverview Roller Rink! Have tons of good memories from there!

So did (I Whipple & Belle Plain) I was 13 when that fire happened & we all ran down there then stood on the grouds of Lane Tech to see that fire! Personally I did't care much for that rink but was very upset when Riverview closed?

I just wish once a season the Bears could play a game at Wrigley Field, but with the big money involved today it'll never happen..

I lived near Horner Park (Montrose and California), and I remember the smoke and falling ashes from that fire. It must've been really big!

I FINALLY got a chance to see the Hawks win the cup after having the heartbreakers in 71' and 73' when I was a kid and the 92'butt-kicking the pens put on us. Congrats 2010 Blackhawks! And I love the classic old Blackhawks song!
