It's up for debate but everything I've read suggests it's good to fully discharge and recharge for the first 3 cycles. I've done it on all my bikes and haven't had any issues with my batteries.
I’m curious to the make of Jon’s tires and also your skinny tires. How much do you guys weigh. I’ve got a mx4 on order now and can’t wait for it to arrive! Great video!
@larrybrandon8291 thanks for the kind words and the sub!! You're my 112th! The skinny tires we found on ebay. Mitas 2.0x19 www.ebay.com/itm/335353255969?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=f8IGlM0eTuC&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=AzdxdEVyTmy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY The dirt tires we found on amazon. Duro 3.25x19 Duro 25-30719-325BTT HF307 Classic Front/Rear Tire - 3.25-19 , Position: Front/Rear, Rim Size: 19, Tire Application: All-Terrain, Tire Size: 3.25-19, Tire Type: Offroad, Tire Ply: 4 a.co/d/00yDMDlX
Also those Duro's are the best thing you can do to your MX4. They are amazing on the street, great in the dirt, and they last forever. And they fit front and back on the stock rims without any issue.
@@spawnrcandbikes yeah my brother lives in Manhatten beach and we keep seeing bikes get impounded. I really expected more issues but our pedal kit did the job. We were pretty careful for the most part and tried to ride respectfully but there were cops all over and didn't bother us. As long as you respect their island and pay the $35 conservancy fee they're happy to have us. I can't wait for the next trip out there. It's a total dream riding out there.
They're both. We made it so they pedal the bike when we get inspected but the motor is disconnected, then when we get to the island we move the chain up to the motor so the pedals become fake but the bike rides off the electric motor like normal. We made a video about how we built the pedal hit. Check it out! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DX007OXzIYA.html
I have an RV and motorcycles too! I had a free boat but gave it away for free also. I couldn't afford to get it up and running. Looking forward to seeing more of your content!
Thanks! Did 80 miles with skinny tires last week. Just did 191 miles from Palmdale to San Diego towing a spare battery and a generator. Haha Editing the video in the next few days.
I read someone wired up just one fan this way and allowed the second fan to run as normal. He stated his relay was overheating from the fan running all the time. Have you had any issues with that? Someone stated the plug and play kits came with a larger relay to deal with the extra heat from the fans running continuously? Thank you!
I haven't had any issues with the relays overheating, but I don't run them continuously because even when I'm driving hard it will cool the motor way too well. I also made another video showing how I have my fans on a reverse relay switch so my fans are running through the stock relays plus 80 amp relays. So in the summer I can pull the heat out of the cab, and in the winter I can blow hear into the cab.
Very interesting and not what I would have expected given the weight, but I guess that rolling resistance difference is pretty dramatic. Gives me confidence I could do 60 miles+ if I needed to on the 2.75 tires.
@TheDogsBox I forgot to mention it thank you! Yes both bikes have their brown wires cut, but no other performance modifications other than tire changes and my headlight switch to turn it off. We averaged 14.8 mph and were in eco mode the entire ride.
if you would not cut the wire and keep it legal and also the range would go up because it uses less power. I'm getting a street legal one but waiting with the wire cut because i could do it later and also have more range if i can life with the max speed of 45km per hour in speed mode... i am scared that if i cut the wire i cannot place a switch box in between maybe it doesn't work it is very hard to do. than i keep stressing about the law while riding.
Way to take one for science man. Your thoughts on the latest batch of the mx4, and any truth in the rumors of 9kw with a revised controller? Talaria's websites are lame and not current. Cheers
I raced my buddy on his first gen MX4 and it sure seems like my new one has 9kw. I haven't been able to find anything officially confirming it. Thinking about taking the controller off to see the specs maybe. But overall everything just feels better. And the regen is a game changer. Rode a downhill mountain bike trail yesterday and I would have been really worried about overheating my brakes on my older bike, but the regen takes all the stress out of it.
I had wanted to buy a YXZ really bad a month ago... I have a Segway and thought the idea of having a clutch would make fast dirt road driving more fun. Then I started researching the YXZ and discovered that they pretty much require 15K worth of mods to get the car I thought it would be in the first place. For 20+15K I could get a car that was better to start with! So then I took the Segway out and realized it was plenty fun for now even though I miss shifting like I get to do in my little sports car. Still... I'm having great fun. And like you, I also realize I'm never stomping it and don't really know that double the horsepower would matter. So yeah, I like your way of thinking. Dumping infinite money into a car that was apparently never made to be 'incredible' (mine or yours) is not the smart move. Enjoy it for what it is and dont beat it to a pulp.
@@failing_successfully Well I just have the 72 inch normal 1L gas version of the Villain. The hybrid is the Super Villain but its not out quite yet 225hp turbo or 325hp turbo hybrid. I'm going to wait and see that machine in person before I make any moves (Its a real transmission but no clutch, I think). One thing about my car is that other than fancy tires and a skit plate, it doesn't need much. No gussets or shock relocations. The springs and shocks are great. The power is fine. The seats and retracting 4-point is excellent. Its already a long travel with great clearance. Very happy with it so far.
@@herbf2700if you’re dropping 15k into a YXZ, you’ve built a machine with forced induction, a competition spec cage, and long travel suspension. The next comparable factory prepped machine to that is starting 34-37k depending on whether you choose Can Am or Polaris. What kind of car were you expecting with the entry level price? My ‘24 XT-R keeps up with 180 hp turbo rzr’s just fine. The only kryptonite I’ve encountered so far is deep water crossings as the six speed transmission’s fill/dipstick is definitely not water tight.
Subed ya with both my Channels lol.. can I Ask you have you had any run ins with Rangers on OHV do we need stickers or is it possable to get any.? I got a mx3 my Gf has a light bee we are in southern CA want to start doing more ohv riding..
Thanks man! We're good to go on any OHV. I've never had any issues with Rangers on the Ebikes. You can get a permanent moped plate also for a one-time $23 fee. Look up Reg230 form and just check the boxes and don't do over 30mph if a cop is looking. I'm going to do that so we're mostly good to go on the streets too. Last time I was at Rowher Flats there were a few E-Ride pros and Rangers didn't bat an eye. What area are you in? I wanna put some rides together.
Hey, i would suggest making the crank arm spindle a little tapered. You could possibly run into issues where the crank arm will come loose over time and round off/strip the threads. on bicycles the bottom brackets are tapered to prevent this issue.
You're totally right. We didn't taper them because we need them to come off easily and we're not planning on actually pedaling the bike more than the few times they need us to show them they work. We're planning on just putting it back to the motor sprocket as soon as we're out of sight. It's a total cheap and dirty hack job. 😂
Hello good sir makes me sad to hear you got hurt i wish you get better at least not in any pain, i suffer from chronic cluster headaches for about 20 years now ( i am 41 ) and i know pain very well.
