Back in the very early 80s we used to visit relatives in Donegal for a few weeks in the summer as teenagers. We had the run of the town and soon discovered 6 phone boxes dotted around. We also discovered that if you pressed button B rapidly 30p would drop out. We did the rounds every day, and the money kept us in chocolate for the whole trip
Amazing capture of two diverse sportsmen coming together and embracing each other and creating history......may Allah swt grant Muhammad Ali into the highest ranks of paradise, Ameen.
Such a wonderful idea to ask locals to share their memories about phones boxes. As it is said, many lives were in these small booths. Great film ! Please go on capturing the essence of Ireland (and this gone-by Ireland). Will watch the doc about turf now.
Hi, is there anywhere online that you can watch or download Muide Éire (Cathal Watters, 2012)? I can't find it anywhere and I have to watch it for college :(
Wise Man I like Ali as a fighter and personality but like he said, he is deceased and he was a draft dodger lol you don't have to pretend things aren't true that makes it weird lol
@@guitarstaraces746 What makes it weird is not putting context into it. Why should a man fight in a war when his own people are mistreated? The war most in the US backed and hated him for not participating in, is now universally regarded as an unjust war. Which the US regrets.
Why would he fight for a country that neglected his people and mistreated him. They would have treated him bad in the military and racially abused. Ali is a fine example of what a human should be, respectful, courageous, inspiring and funny. R.I.P the greatest to ever lace them up
i,m glad i clicked on the add in the last video , this is a wonderfull video of the times past , its gr8 you,s took the time and effort to make this video eire has changed so much it seems now only when u watch a video like this the memories come flooding back you,s must have had a gr8 time making it especially with the peoples who took part and their stories to b told , awsome stuff and thx for sharing :)-- rebel man here -- :)
Wonderful film. Brought back memories of the B button scam and the innocent messages left in these spaces. Not to mention the 999 and Samaritan calls made in the days before mobiles. Lovely, lovely view of rural Ireland. Fair play to the locals who protected their local phone boxes.
Thanks for all of the kind comments. We enjoyed making this and we're delighted people like it. You could make another five films from all of the stories people have about the phoneboxes but we've done our one and I think that'll be it. We did another one about changing Irish life called HOME TURF and you can watch it here if you like - www.globalonenessproject.org/library/films/home-turf.
