12:20 I get that the AOA is not optimal, but why this would create a stall? The AOA decreases when the compressor rpm are low, which means the AOA is way below the critical value.
@ell8711
@ell8711 13 дней назад
believe it's because a lower aoa means less lift. as a result means less pressure further into the compressor which encourages surge

Turbine engines also have accessory drives? I honestly didn't know that. But interesting that it's very similar to the accessory drives of car and truck engines

09:25 I wonder how the Helios accident coul've happened if there is a aural warning of failed pressurization... EDIT: I just read the report and apparently the alarm sounded at around 12'000ft but was misidentified by the crew as a "take-off configuration warning".

Why not use electrically heated elements in the combustion chamber - no more fuel - and stick an electric generator in the engine.

hello. video is great , but I have one question. at 5:45, you are saying that as gases goes through divergent passage its velocity is progressively increasing. Shouldn;t velocity decrease and static pressure increase, while gases are going through divergent passage?
@oscarrincon2105
@oscarrincon2105 4 месяца назад
Not for sonic & supersonic flow. On converging & diverging nozzles, a supersonic flow experiences the opposite effect that a subsonic flow does.

Hi 09:43 why EPR showed to decrease? Because I think at high altitudes and low density conditions EPR will increase. thank you
@musicosaxial
@musicosaxial 6 месяцев назад
According to my understanding, EPR is measured at two points n1 and n2 as the density reduces the pressure on the intake fan commonly denoted ad 'n1' will be less and as we know that exhaust gases pressure at constant rise in throttle is at speed of Mach 1.which is at point'n2' So in simple words n1 reducing and n2 constant so EPR reduces.

Hmm. High wing airplanes have struts and those are not for compressive loads. Or is that British vs American English?
@b43xoit
@b43xoit 11 месяцев назад
What engineering provisions arrange for the free turbine to run at constant rotational speed? Why doesn't it slow down when the load increases? There must be a governor on it, controlling the throttle of the engine.
@b43xoit
@b43xoit 11 месяцев назад
If a turbine engine is quieter than a piston engine when used as the APU in an airplane, why do cars still run on piston engines?
