This is absolutely the best „How to“ I’ve watched since getting my R18 Bagger. Thank you buddy 🙏 One question which I didn’t understand. How do I get to full screen nav-map or nav-map on the right side of the TFT?
Why are you overheating the engine, letting it idle while showing how to use the screen. How about next time, put it on a trickle charger plugged in, in the garage to demonstrate.
oh man this is so useful, i am too lazy to read the manual and need detail guys like yourself. I LOVE my R18 TC and been all over my home country of Scotland since i got her a month ago
I am probably going to buy a R18B just because of this video. The salesman at my local BMW dealership had absolutely no idea Is how to use the TFT. He actually got frustrated enough that he suggested I look at the Indian chieftain. Thank you for a great review.
Really enjoyed watching your clip .....its strange how some people can explain thinks in such a memorable way... everything you talked about I've managed to retain
Hey bud great video. I just got my 2022 R18 TC with the blue/purple color. I got that bike vs the Manhattan smoke color because I liked the black engine. I would like to have the same blackout engine covers, the black engine pipe covers, the black bar ends …basically I would like to blackout as much as possible. Did you buy the bike like that or did you add these after purchase?
Watching your gear indicator, it seems the gearing is very tall. How is it at parking lot speeds? Can you go slow in First with clutch engaged or do you have to slip clutch? The Roundabout scene in First gear at low rpm got my attention. Would have expected 2nd at least. Goldwings go quite slow in First.
I live in Detroit near the Canadian border. I can’t believe they don’t have a way to switch mph to kilometers in the tft. They really dropped the ball there.
Just a few thinks I noticed on test ride, footboard position is tight, especially for 6' or better, big boot is not going to fit underneath shifter, obviously heads are in the way for a little more forward instead of a 90 degree knee bend, bike feels extremely heavy to get off stand, otherwise awesome all around But this is a serious problem, u can't reduce your footsize, specialty boot? When you go to the Berlin bagger its a little better, because of the peg, but no element protection or amenities , still awesome bike, lol its going to take u a month to learn that screen, unless your a tech bmw rider, sorry , had to go there, u know what I mean.
Cory - the only reason to store your phone in the K1600 top phone case is for what purpose then? to charge it? What are the benefits of doing so and what cables from BMW would be required to connect a android Samsung A51 for example?
the tft 10.25" is standard on the 2021 RT and was the first bike to offer it. The 2022 GT and R18 came later. As far as I know, the 6.5" has never been on the RT. I own a 2021 RT.
RPM seems high for freeway riding or is it just me 🤷♂️🤷♂️ I Love this bike but she’s a beast to pick up off the side stand. Unfortunately they ran out of new bikes like most other places this year 🙁🙁
There is a USB-C port in the phone compartment. You'll need a USB-C cable to whatever port your phone needs. Make sure to get a cable with the USB-C end straight and the end for your phone with a right angle plug so everything will fit.
Very informative ! I have the R18 bagger , but Im still playing and getting familiar with the TFI. But I was curious to know if my Cardo unit could sync up with the TFI ? I see you purchased the Leg rests . I am trying to order them myself, but nobody has them. I just received my crash bars that I order over Christmas ! I really hope BMW gets these accessories available to everyone that has the r18's . Thanks for the video, and ride safe.
@@Miskini-tj6ec I ordered them through my dealer but it took five months to get them in. I wanted the OEM bars because I wanted to get the platforms for the leg rest.
@@donniegenton5495 right on. I just picked up an r 18bagger also. They can’t give them away around me. $4000 off a demo bike .9% financing. Couldn’t pass it up.I definitely need to get leg platforms , and a backrest.
I just bought an R 18 Transcontinental First Edition. Love this bike. The only thing I'm missing from the HD Touring world I come from are third parties exhaust systems that, for the moment, I can't find available for the B or TC versions of the R18.
@@russellcarter2776 very different bikes. The engine pulls really strong: great torque. For sure You don't miss an HD 114 ci v-twin. Handling is really great in particular in tight curves or hairpin bends and mountain roads full of curves: much better than a Street or Road Glide. Standard shocks are better than a Street or Road Glide even with Ohlins shocks as I was used to have. The Marshall audio system is better than the Boom Box Audio stage II. The 10.5 TFT is way better than the 6.5 HD one. The Adaptive Cruise Control then is something You can't find on a Harley. Brakes are at the same level. If you need it there is as standard the reverse gear: the weight of the TC is absolutely in line with that of a Limited when parking the bike. It's a great bike: really. That 1800 cc Boxer engine is a sort of Motorcycle Art when You look at it. And the attention to details is only comparable to a CVO (I have a CVO Road Glide, too so it's easy to make comparisions). What You miss from HD is the high number of accessories destined to the engine (stage 2, 3 or 4) that here is lacking probably because the bike has been launched only on september '21 or probably because the German engineers don't want customers to touch the engine: i don't know. But, at least, they should work with third party companies in terms of exhaust systems: this is important. There are several models for the R18 but nothing for the B or Transcontinental except for Jekill and Hyde at the "modest" price of 3450 Euros for a couple of mufflers only (no pipes).
2 years before I can get a license for bikes over 600cc so I’m not in a hurry with buying one. I hope BMW adds the TFT and adaptive cruise to standard bikes by then, or at least there’ll be some used parts so I can add these features myself through a custom job. I want those features on a standard bike, not sure what’s holding them back. The screen instead of the gauges and the radar say below the front lamp
I thought about putting that in there but that would be a whole conversation about just that and I was already at 30 min. To answer that question I have everything paired to the bike. No specific order needed. Phone to bike (not paired to helmet) Helmet to bike. Works every time.
