Not saying this is a false claim but do you always conveniently look on the inside of your wheels for damage after a wash? Could’ve easily been something else 🤷🏼♂️
Yeah because you are going to run over something that does that kind of damage to your wheel and not realize it. When you are an auto technician anf have a lift you get a look at wheels pretty often.
It was great filming with you as usual! Just a note for anyone that watches this, I’m by no means a professional. I’m still learning a lot myself but this is just going off what I know! Feel free to correct me or give out more tips/advice 🤠
Advice from an old hot rodder... 0) You should have purchased the shroud separately from the fan so you could get a quality fan. I use SPAL or PAG on my cars. 1) A brushless fan has variable speed capability, and they generally flow more air than a comparably sized fan that is not brushless. Down-side - they're usually about 2x the price of a non-brushless fan. 2) The CJ website specifically says the shroud/fan you bought would not fit an aftermarket rad due to water pump interference issues. 3) to compensate for the water pump interference issue, get a piece of 1/16-inch aluminum sheet to cover the existing fan hole, get a smaller fan (1-2 inches smaller than the max size that will fit your rad), and cut a new hole in the aluminum plate that's closest to one corner of the rad so that when the fan is mounted, the water pump and fan aren't aligned. That should give you another 3/4-inch of clearance without sacrificing too much cooling from the fan. 4) Learn about solderless terminals and heat shrink. It looks much better than the insulated terminals you used and is more reliable besides. Get a pair of decent terminal crimpers. BTW, don't waste your money on terminals from Amazon. Get them from an actual electrical supply house. They'll cost more, but they'll be a higher quality than the chinese made junk that amazon sells. 5) Also, consider getting a fused distribution block. You have a crap load of wires attached to the started solenoid when you only need a couple. Wire management will really clean up your engine compartment. 6) Related anecdote - I have a 427 windsor stroker in my 2012 Mustang, and found a shroud with two 12-inch fans on it for $150. For that price, I knew that fans would be junk, so I immediately tossed 'em in the garbage and bought a pair of SPAL fans. A couple of weekends ago, I got stuck in stop-n-go traffic for 1.5 hours on a 100+ degree day. The car never got above 185.
Appreciate all the info! We just used what was supplied and it was a last minute thing a few days before we left for Ocean City. Car always did good with the flex fan other than the boardwalk parade and honestly the flex fan probably just needs a shroud and it would be alright. Were going to order a better fan and reinstall the electric fan soon.
Can't wait until the full video comes out. The teaser has me on the edge of my seat chris I just spoke with Justin got some plans comming up in August to get some shots of my car. I hope you got the clip of me revving my car at the show.
I put a 24" wide with dual electric fan Ron Davis rad in my 63' Falcon wagon. Way smaller engine bay.. Had a 331 stroker SBF with long tube headers with factory stock towers. Just had to customize the core support.
