I had a uni feminist tell me that women shouldn't wear dresses. Her mixed up thinking was that since women were forced to wear dresses in the past they should refuse to wear them now. That's just as confining.
Its so nice to end up with muscle cramps on your face after 13 minutes of smiling and laughing ... ty Tim Minchin, I guess this is THE song I would take with me to a desert island
Right now, there are people all over the world who are just like you. They're either lonely, they're missing somebody, they're depressed, they're hurt, they're scarred from the past, they're having personal issues no one knows about, they have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, they dream and they hope. And right now, they are sitting here reading these words, and I'm writing this for you so you don't feel alone anymore. Always remember, don't be depressed about the past, don't worry about the future, and just focus on today. If today's not so great don't worry! Tomorrow's a new chance.
I’ve watched this many times and it still thrills me! I’m listening to it on my Bluetooth as I’m making breakfast and I had to go to the piano to try to play as fast as Tim can play! He’s so amazingly incredible that I get all choked up with emotion when I hear him play! 🥹🥰
I had no idea The Four Chords song had a Tim Minchin song! I had thought the canvas bags thing was something they just threw in there. Also, how I have missed this song for so many years!?!? I love Minchin!
I am not quite as sad as Tim, I didn't marry the girl I met at 17, I married a girl I met at 19. When I was 29, I played this song for her on the 10 year anniversary, and she laughed.
I imagine him coming up with some of these lines in the shower or while chopping veg in the kitchen and his poor long-suffering wife's thinking "Oh dear he's at it again... but it's going to be a banger so next quarter's rent's going to be covered"
im just asking myself since about 15 Years : how would a conversation between Tim and me end^^^cus that was the time when my late husband told me : BUT , Darling : this is actually a love song dedicadet to his wife .... and i ansterstood nothing anymore^^... im german btw - so maybe , i thought - if he thinks every other would do - hmmm.... thinking - love song ... haaaa??? now i get it ... at 50 years of age )) but its still NOT a love song to me^^ - i mean - good, he left his wedding ring on while singing this^^
Saw Tim live the other night. He played a bit of Darkside, and when he got to the Fur Elise part he proceeded to play it in about 10 different styles before transitioning into another song (Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen which he played entirely in the dark while the audience sang along). Best show I've ever been to. Tim is highly talented, very intelligent and absolutely hilarious. He had the whole audience laughing between every song (despite it not actually being a comedy show).
