Full time caravanning family in Australia with a toddler and two Rhodesian Ridgebacks. We share our transition into this lifestyle and the reality of living it.
Hi guys, would like to know if fan is noisy while trying to sleep, does fan need to be going 24hr non stop. Thanks in advance for the reply Regards Peter ps great video well presented
Nor does sh*t or pee in a bucket and in 33degs heat with a toilet seat..Trust me it would have been 1st thing off our Gunnar do list. Because of unfortunate circumstances. We are living in the bus on friends property without loosing my all dignity😂. I will show hubby and will go from there. Thanks
Such beautiful places. Will have to visit. Sheldene, so glad you didn't have any damage from falling branches. Something always to be aware of, is parking the van under tress, especially Gums, which of course, can drop a lot. It can be so tempting for some prople to want to park in the shade, but it's not worth the risk. Thank you for showing us places to add to our list. 😊🌻
Hi Sheldene 😊 Lovely to meet you. Stumbled across your channel, while gorging on caravan travel videos. 😄 Your family is adorable. Love your sense of humour. My family is all grown. I'm a Nanna. But my Hubby of almost 3 yrs and I will head off in a few months on a much anticipated trip of at least 12 mths. We are selling our home. We have a block of land in the Mary Valley to move back to. Very small, 2 bed, removal home most likely for our future home there. We already own a 2nd hand van we have done a couple of trips in. So that's my story and I look forward to following along with your journey. You style of video is great to watch. Thanks so much for sharing. Take care and safe travels. 💐😊
I haven't bought mine yet, but on another video I have just watched, they said that the tiny filters inside the black squares at the sides get clogged up, so you need to clean them, probably every 2 or 3 times you empty the solids chamber. Just a tip, as I've never seen it mentioned anywhere else and everyone said the same in the comments. How are you finding the foot spindle? I'm not sure whether to buy the foot spindle or the hand one? I'm guessing the foot one would be easier as you don't have to bend down (good for me with a bad back), but on one video they said they always had to put a shoe on as it can hurt your foot, especially as it gets fuller and harder to turn. Interested in your thoughts on this. One last thing I'd mention is that when people mix their coconut coir in a bucket, they say to let it dry back out again for a while (not completely) before you add it into the chamber, just so you are starting with a drier mix. I'm sure you've already figured all this out for yourselves of course ;-)
Hi Carla, yeah we've only had to clean the filter once, ours hasn't really been getting clogged thankfully. In terms of the foot spindle, when it gets pretty hard to turn it's our indication that it's time to empty the toilet. We don't wear shoes in the van and it's still easy enough to turn the foot spindle without needing shoes. And thanks for the tip with the coconut coir, we will keep that in mind for the next time we change the toilet composting section.
Give-em a brake they’re still learning and the only way to learn is actually doing it .Great effort for Inexperienced caravaners ya made it out luckily no major damage
3 problems. 1 road tyres. If you had right tyres be better. To you by these 4wd have no idea how to use them low range less revs not leave it in awd. And 3 to much extra waight in the van. You dont need everythink bar kitchen sinks could been exspensive holiday for having rd tyres not noing how to drive 4wd and having to much in van and there in another problem should off let some air out off tyres next time use low range less revs not flooring it get set tyres you can aford tyres take less away would off stress you family out but little things what i said would off got you out if my freind has same car tows 23foot van on frazer never been stuck happy van only got that not side torn off
Hey Chad, we live in the Caravan, its our home so being comfortable is important to us. We have certainly learnt a lot about the tyres and a lot about everything actually. We've also learnt that we would not park our van at the bottom of a grassy hill, but regardless of everything that happened we had a great time and met some awesome people who helped us out.
@@feetnpawsinavan3388 ok sorry if i sounded rude. You are living good life children are seeing alot off our nice country was it in low range my mate has 2019 patrol with 23foot van has had it on beach no problem. Tyres are mainly problem im think i might bye little van travel with my to simease cats my problem is got i40 hyundai petrol says it tows 1500kg wouldnt put anythink over tone. But what you and your family doin is best life you can have no stress and all places you go see
@@chadberwick919 Thanks :D Yes it was in low range and the guy who pulled us out is a 4WD instructor, so he kind of coached us through it all. The tyres were definitely a problem though, we needed better ones. Thanks for the kind reply.
Hi Brett, we have been around the Lismore area with all the flooding so haven't been able to move much yet. We are still on the road and I have been a bit slack in editing new videos. Will hopefully get into it again soon.
How quick is it filling up with the use of toilet paper? That's always been a concern for me with these types of toilet other than that it looks good (way better and more sanitary than a cassette one)
We've actually got a little bin next to the toilet for the wee toilet paper and the only toilet paper to go into the toilet is the poo toilet paper. We also try and use 2ply when available. This makes the toilet last about 4 weeks with three of us using it daily. When it gets a bit difficult to turn we change it to fresh peat moss.
Hi guys really great install video. Not sure how long you have been using it but how long have you gone without emptying it? And does it still not smell? Where do you plan on emptying the poo bucket, could you still empty it down a normal dump point with a hose to wash it all away? Thanks
We've been using the toilet for 5 months now. We empty the composting part of it around every 5-6 weeks and sometimes has a wet soil smell for a bit but apart from that it doesn't. The urine part gets emptied every second to third day and that smells more than the poop part of the toilet 😂 the urine bottle gets emptied at the dump point or if we're in the bush somewhere we dilute it and it can be poured under a mature tree. The compost part we empty into a rubbish bag and throw it in the bin. That does not go in a dump point 😊 hope that helps.
@@feetnpawsinavan3388 Thanks so much for you quick reply. All sounds better than a standard cassette toilet 😁 when the poo part is getting full is it hard to turn the mixing handle by hand? Just watched a video that said it was and they would have to use their foot. Thanks again.
You know if I were you I would remove that worthless handle gizmo and put a correct size bags in the #2 tank use some cat litter etc. Remove bag a toss pee bottle pour into larger container so u don't have to empty every single day.
@@MrTubeman123456 if you aren't using the agitator, then the mix isn't getting aerated and you have to empty them more frequently. That's the idea of this kind of design. Turn often, empty less.
Come on Vinnie I thought you would boosted the little green machine up so Luna can get a bit of speed, all good, so funny she open the door as driving along 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome, very interesting. I was watching a review on these toilets, a guy with a family of 6 said he gets 1 to 2 weeks before emptying the compost, a family of 2 should get 1 to months, cool... 👌
Hi Sheldene, I’ve been watching this channel from the start, I’m loving it! So good to have you back even if it’s not art. Luna is so sweet! Honey and Taylor seem to have adjusted quite quickly that’s wonderful!
Oh thank you so much sweet Lynn! I loved reading your comment and it warms my heart to know you still like to follow our lifestyle videos too. I must say though I really need to get some art going again because I do miss it.
I am so happy that all is going well. I guess with any adventure bumps in the road are to be expected. Some campgrounds you will love and some not so much. Just like a sticks and bricks home things leak, malfunction and break but hopefully not to much. We had a Class A motorhome when I was in my 20's and loved vacationing in it. I would so love to get a Class C motorhome and see the states again through wiser and more appreciative eyes. Love catching up on what your up to....keep the videos coming.
The most important thing I discovered about Campers is that everything within the RV must collapse or do double duty. After a few run throughs your set-up will not take longer than 30 minutes... including your annex. Be kind to yourself and patient.
There you are...Luna has so grown so much and is super sweet!!! So excited for you and your family and cannot wait to see where this journey takes you!!!!!!!!
Oh my word!!! I had such a good laugh, thanks for the giggle. I'm so excited for you all, this is going to be an awesome adventure. My hubby and I wanted to do this but with him running a business it was impossible unfortunately. Can't wait to see more
Haha ‘thought we were minimalists’ That made me giggle!! Like previous commenter days - once it no longer serves you and you pass it on to someone else you feel lighter and freer! So excited for this journey
Every time I get rid of something that no longer serves me, I feel lighter and less stressed. I can only imagine how you and Vinnie will feel once everything is finally sold except for the items you cannot be without. Looking forward to the next video! ❤️
It does feel quite freeing letting go of things. Loosening that hold that some things can unnecessarily have on you 😊 I think you can learn a lot about yourself when you have to do such a massive declutter.
I think what you are doing is incredibly bold, adventurous and exciting! I am honored to be among the first to watch you on this journey from the very beginning! ❤️
