Y'know, i've heard worse from a lot of bands, that low brass wasn't too bad, the trombone struggled a little, but he was still loud and clear most of the time, and that sousa did pretty good the whole time, I commend small bands, it takes courage to go on a field and basically be a constant solo.
Fun fact this year the band director sucked and tryed turn SFHS into American fork. They've sence kinda regained numbers to be about 56-62 for their 24-25 school year.
Notice this was 12 years ago. Wonder what the numbers are today. I started a band in Alabama 1966 with 30 members, and now I noticed the band on facebook has grown over 100 members. There is always hope...Nice tuba player...
this is nothing, my first year we had 9 people in our marching band. now to be fair it was right after covid hit, and we had a brand new band director lol. I do go to a very small school but our marching band had grown to about 32 people, and we sound good imo for our size and budget lol.
@parkerheap2510 idk, they could very well do that, but that's just if they have a school near them, or if the school near them is actually any better. At the end of the day, they're working hard, we don't know what happens in this band, they may only get 1 rehearsal a week, we don't know, but they do sound pretty good. I mean, you can hear the area where work was needed, but overall, it was pretty good
Flag corp in the early 80's @ mine: hours straight on personal form, rhythm, flag snap, marching, adapability...until acceptable (perfect) by a great captain. However, I failed on the field. I & school did not know I had severe Dyscalculia. I loved it, very disappointed, but, I am very proud of a photo by my sister of I & the ladies, in line behind our 2 bandleaders, kind of a big school. We had white feather plumes on our hats. Satin bicolor top and skirt. My favorite- white cowboy boots, duh! At least I had fun and experiences, at least I was awesome in parades- straight lines!😁
My first thought theres no way its smaller than my brother's football teams old band--Cleveland Benedictine, which had 9 at the time--but you're right, it is slightly smaller with 8. This band I would also call vastly superior to the one at my brother's former high school I cant remember another marching band even under 15 in size,
This is the definition of how a small band can easily beat bigger bands, doesnt matter the size. I love their sound, you can tell there are rough parts but its really good
