My 08 g35xS has had every one of the issues you mentioned and it’s sitting at 248k miles right now. I’ve replaced everything, water pump went out at 200k, right now my valve covers are leaking oil and my right control arm is clunking
I have a 2012 G37x with the 7AT. Bought in 2014 with 5,000 miles on the clock. (Low mile lease return) Immediately installed Stillen supercharger kit for >400 whp. On the advice of Pat at L10 Transmissions, I installed an additional transmission cooler and inline magnetic filter. Also installed Setrab engine oil cooler. Now at 86,000 miles and no issues (yet) with either engine or transmission. (Knocks wood!).
*2008. Yes I still drive it. #1 mine was cracked but not bad. fixed. #2 driver side. I've been using duct tape on the roof but found a way to reroute to the A/C drain port. #3 cleaned them a while back. #4 haven't had that issue. #5 yes but dread taking it apart. Only a few drops after each drive. #6 haven't had that issue. #7 gallery gasket? That's a new one on me. Other problems I've encountered are front ball joints have gone bad. Replaced ignition coils and 2nd set of spark plugs at 125k. The cracking dash! And, it is not an easy feat to replace. Easier to put a custom dash mat on it. 😕*
If your have more then 100000 miles , If your doing the gallery gasket, water pump might as well do complete timing chain and cam sprockets ,thermostat, drive belt .. after that your good for 100k more miles . This is $4500 if you go to the dealer. Just make sure you bring them the revised gallery gasket from z1 Motorsports or concept Z performance.. I’m getting this done this week . $$$$ hurts but I don’t have a garage to do it myself
great video man, lol already had the transmission issue, sunroof issue, dashboard cracking, gallery gasket issue (p0010+p0021). Should have had the water pump fixed 😮, what are the symptoms of water pump failure? P.S. Still love the car!
When you do the gallery gasket, you might as well do the timing chain and tensioner, the water pump, and the serpentine belt. Also the entire front doesn't need to come off. There's room to do everything without doing that. You will need to drop the oil pan so factor in 5.7 quarts of oil and 3 containers of 50/50 nissan long life blue coolant. I was quoted $1500 by my shop when the time comes. If you do it yourself, you get get all the upgraded parts from Z1 Motorsports. Few other things to watch for is failure of the passenger sensor occupancy sensor which you can bypass with an airbag360 for $80 and sticky / melting dashboards which will eventually crack no matter how well you keep car do to age and heat (not the sun).
@@clydemacauley1554@clydemacauley1554 Definitely only use premium gas as recommended, get regular oil changes every 5k miles, and keep your scheduled maintenance up to date. For example, you will need to replace hoses, gasket covers, and catalytic converters every 120k-180k miles. the repair work for this luxury vehicle can be expensive, so have at least 2k to 3k reserved for repair and maintenance.
I had to change my driver catalytic converter @ 100k miles and at 150k miles the passenger side gave out as well. I drive a 2015 Infiniti q40, and I mostly buy premium gas. At the moment, I have changed all the wheel bearings in the car as well as all the struts. But my steering rack needs to be replaced. As much as I love this car, I can’t help but wonder why the parts give out like that! The engine is completely bulletproof, but every other thing is really fragile.
I have a 2018 Honda civic lx I’m looking at either a 2013 Infiniti g37x awd with 39k miles that was also garage kept and looks pristine priced at 20k, or a 2020 Acura ilx FWD a spec with red guts priced at 25k, I know the ilx will last me a long time because of the k24 engine and a pretty reliable DCT but I live in New England and kinda want awd and a v6 would sound better and move way faster than a ilx. I am a currently a junior in college and don’t have that much money so what should I do??
Honestly a very hard decision. Are you planning on financing both of these cars? The Acura will definitely be smarter option because it’s better on gas and more reliable because it’s new.
Audi’s are notoriously unreliable and cost more to maintain and repair. I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. To be honest I’d say screw the G and the S4 and I’d get an M340i and throw a JB4 on it. It will beat the RS4 and Redsport no problem.
bro you live in a expensive ass place apparently. you pay 130$ a tank? i pay 60-80$ 60 on low price days at like $3.6/gallon or 80-90 on bad days line high $3.99-4.50$ days per gallon
I guess I’ve been pretty lucky. My 7AT has been boosted (Z1 supercharger kit) since 136k (now at 160k) and I’ve only experienced the coolant heater hose issue. Cleaning the throttle bodies more often will typically eliminate the jerky shifts. Not trying to downplay your experience or anything, but I’ve only ever seen one of those cars broken down on the side of the road, and it was for a dead battery. These cars are stupid reliable, and the issues you listed aren’t as common as you may think until you reach higher mileage numbers. I enjoyed the video though! Please continue making content.
Those were some thicc welds😂 I went to gt customs for my muffler delete and they did a great job. I've heard mixed reviews though. I went to the oshawa one and the owner mike did it.
@@saad-asad When I bought my G at around 80k Miles the idle was rough and it was the throttle body, i cleaned it as best i could with some good Throttle body cleaner, but could only get about 80% of the crap off. Think of like an old baking pan. Maybe 100k km or 60k miles, honestly 30k miles if u drive it hard probly the next time ill clean it.
Hey just got a 2010 g37 with 40k miles what’s the first thing I should be aware of and try and get checked. Also if anyone knows good maintenance tips please lmk
Hmm honestly you should be good! Just do the oil changes every 5k miles, make sure car isn’t leaking oil. Get any exhaust leaks fixed, change the spark plugs, and make sure the sunroof drain isn’t leaking into your passenger footwell. These cars are really reliable just do basic maintenance and don’t abuse it 24/7 :)
Had all problems except gallery gaskets and water pump. Transmission valve body went when I bought the car and cats failed shortly after. Unfortunately it was totaled at 116k miles.
