That’s good advice especially with the prices of olive oil and cocoa butter. 😮 I’m still in the learning and testing phase and have swapped out olive oil with sunflower oil in my soaps and butters. I have enough cocoa butter for awhile. Hopefully prices will go back to normal by the time I’m ready to sell!
Canola oil is also a good sub for olive oil. I've heard the soap can go rancid quicker, but i've never had an issue with that. Always run your formulations though a soap calculator before swapping things willy-nilly, easy way to ruin your soap if you don’t.
I believe it's 1/2 tsp per lb of oils used. Same for salt. Mix the sugar into cooled lye water as it tends to react and cause the lye to heat up even more. Also, swapping your water for something with high sugar like beer or even soda can boost laster. Be VERY careful though! Anything carbonated MUST be frozen solid to knock the carbonation out before adding lye- otherwise it can cause a volcano!
Does bearing down help you regulate it? Just curious. My son had fetal SVT (super high heartbeat) and I read that that helps ppl with SVT . Just wondering if there is any cross over
You are adorable. I am so happy to see young people soaping, and it's even more awesome to see that you are making money doing it. And then you immediately turn around and share what you're learning with others. Wonderful! 🥲
Thank you I needed this video ! I noticed sugar makes more of a lather for cheap . I really want to find out what to oils I can use better the cheapest but give a luxury bar I need to add sugar salt
@@CadenceRoseco what do you think are probably the two best oils are butter combination for a luxury soap gonna be the most cost-effective but palm oil . I need something that gives a hard but also very moisturizing and creamy . I’m thinking if I have a good two ingredient combination and add salt to the lye .
Also Olive Oil we use to be in a gallon, now the olive oil comes in 3 Quarts. The economy is thinking they are tricking us. Get less oil for more money. I use to get Rice Bran Oil at a Restaurant Store a gallon for 11.98 and now it's 37+ .
