ONE OF THE MOST SWEET ENTRIES OF ESTONIA EVER, SHE SUCH A SWEET PERSON AND VERY TALENTED THAT SHE CAN BE! REGARDS FROM CYPRUS, 2024 AND WE ARE STILL CONTINUE WITH THE SAME PASSION!
I heard the song as a kid… so imagine my surprise when I moved to Spain, learning that a Chilean trio (Frecuencia Mod) had recorded their own version and triumphed with it in South America
André Claveau ( 29 December 1911 - 4 July 2003) was a popular singer in France from the 1940s to the 1960s. He won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958 singing "Dors, mon amour" (Sleep, My Love), with music composed by Pierre Delanoë and lyrics by Hubert Giraud. Winning at the age of 46 years and 76 days, Claveau was the oldest winner of the contest until 1990, being the first and only winner prior to 1990 to triumph in their forties.
It is not "who stole my boat", but who steers my boat. Fantastic song, very ahead of its time, the very first ethnic entry of the contest, which the stupid juries could not appreciate back then and rewarded it with 0 points. Such a shame!
Great, great voice, wasted on this poor song. A singer as good as Tony Christie shouldn't be having to redeem the material, making it better than it is, but should be given a song of high calibre. Wasted opportunity. Singer better than the song
