From what I understand, the F-15 is not a very good dog fighter, mainly just a high-speed missile truck. The idea of the F-14 swing wings was to give you a good dog fighter that could also hit high speeds. I think because of the high maintenance costs and risking 2 people, it was decided to just focus on the F-15 instead of updating the F-14. I would have loved to have seen a Super Tomcat at some point. With lighter materials modern electronics it would be on par with any other 4.5 gen fighter. Only so much room in the budget. If it was my call, I probably would have focused on the F-15 as well.
Cost of the vehicle and cost of operating the vehicle would be main factors for its popularity. Is it a gasoline based vehicle or a diesel based one? Its operating range and top speed are also not mentioned. In today's era of drone based weaponry, where main battle tanks are also easy prey, i wonder whether this vehicle would be useful? Training scenarios is NOT a way you can assess if a particular plane is better than another plane when looking from the outside. You have zero information about the condition of any particular scenario. In training you can have an A10 kill an F22... that has actually happened!!!! Mirage jets are quite capable and comparable to the F-16 in general terms. The different capabilities then also depend on the modernization of each craft. The newest F-16 probably are more capable than the newest Mirage 2000, but that is mainly because the Mirage have not received as modern an upgrade as the latest F-16 versions. In general these crafts are comparable in capabilities.

Thaad has a completely different purpose as opposed to Patriot you can't compare them. These systems are meant to complement each other. Like S-200/S-2500 S-300 S-400 and S-500 all have different operational 'values'. They're all part of an AAD system, each fulfilling a different role. Some are suitable for shorter ranges, smaller targets and so forth and I haven't even covered the short and point defence systems the Russians have. BukM, Tor 1/2, Strela10/M, PantsirM and MANPAD's.
