@Zef I didn't fully understand one thing. If the red LED lights up and pauses for 2 seconds, does it control an output "Up" for the fan to drive faster? Then 2 seconds later the blue LED lights up and then controls “down” so to speak? and you programmed it like that just to show simulation?

Nicely explained and filmed. I love your "MacGyver"-like fix with the spring. Thanks. I'm going to tackle my blinds today.

Posted a comment earlier but don't see it so I'll try again. Thanks for sharing this. I have a 4 channel wifi smart switch coming from Amazon and now i know how to wire the relays. That Ethernet port is perfect for this.

This was the perfect fix! Unfortunately didn't have the box of springs, but found 2 at Menards that worked perfectly! Thanks for posting this.

This is an amazingly clever and resourceful fix for this problem. I wish I could use this method, but upon inspection I don't see any such windup geared mechanism or wound string. So far at a loss how to fix mine, but still investigating it.

Question, how do I fix the blind when the retracting cord has been untied from the bottom button? …yup, I’m blonde and I did it! Any suggestions would be REALLY appreciated!

Very interesting Having seen the Ethernet port I’m thinking maybe you can run this to the Truma cp plus and run it from that control It basically works the same way

I finally got my new windows installed on a home I bought 2 years ago. I have 7 of what appears to be the same shades (graber) that never seemed to work properly. When I removed them for the new window install, I discovered what my problem is. The end caps and their little tabs that hold it in place were all broken off. specifically, the other end piece with the plastic rod that goes into the metal tension rod. Clearly the previous owner tinkered with this by the amount of glue.in the end piece. If it weren't for the fact that it's a large picture window, and the cost of a new one, I'd chuck it. Anyway, thanks for your video. I'll figure something out.

Hi, did you ever figure something out to repair your blinds? I think I have the same problem on mine as you did. The long clear plastic screw that goes inside the rotating metal rod at the opposite end ( not the motor end) broke off from where it attaches to the end cap. Were you able to find any replacement parts ?

Nice work! Sad to think that most of these probably get thrown into landfill thanks to that tiny piece of plastic breaking :(

Love it - especially that you have a drawer of springs, and the fact that the pen fits over the axle and into the spring. I have at least 5 of these to fix . . .

So cool! Please make an update video of you actually building up a permanent board setup that is BT controlled. It looks like the Ethernet cable might get in the way by sticking out into space where the shroud would come in?

Do you know what the RJ12 is for? Thanks for the info on the RJ45, exactly what I was looking for.

The RJ12 has the same function but different pinout. Maxxfan makes/made different wired remotes, some with rj12.

Glad you found it helpful! Someone just wrote me with some info about that other connector. I added it to the post on my website, so feel free to check it out there. It does some of the same stuff but has some differing functionality too.

Nice, can you do a tutorial for the guitar part?
@ZefStudio
@ZefStudio 8 лет назад
+Franklin T I don't have plans to do a tutorial for this, but I encourage you to try to figure it out for yourself! Learning how play songs by ear without a tab is a valuable skill as a musician - and one you can only get by practicing! Between this video and Tom's original (linked in description), you should be able to see enough to help you along the way too. The audio of the studio recording he just released could also help - it's on SoundCloud as well as iTunes/elsewhere. Try to use your ear to find the notes more than your eyes. Take it slow and try to pick out the notes you can hear in the recording but haven't yet found on the guitar. Stick with it, you can do it! :)
