There might not be an updated/improved version available like there is for the 86 but you could always replace the door check with a new oem part, the main problem is caused by those wearing down so a new one might fix it. Or your shins will continue to live in fear and you're out 50 bucks...

Agreed, definitely no great way to handle the situation. A bummer that functionality was removed from stuff people had already paid for, I think it would have been better optics to keep some options grandfathered in but I doubt they got that option

Toyota 14B was a 3.7L diesel inline 4. The 15B was a 4.1L, but technically a JSDF only engine. Although it was offered in the Mega Cruiser which is a passenger vehicle.

That engine got hit with the double whammy of GM basically deciding to choke it instead of downsizing and US automakers switching to SAE net hp measurements taking another 10-20% off hp numbers. It's easy to poke fun at now considering an N/A 8L V8 should be in the ballpark of 600 hp but at the time the tech just wasn't there

Thank you! Regarding that saying, it has more to do with forced induction in terms of making power. Modern turbos can push big power but still might lack the low end grunt and instant response of a larger displacement N/A engine. It's really just a preference thing at this point on how people prefer their engine to feel
