What is your favorite rod action power and length for fishing traps. I use a 7’7” Phenix feather it’s listed as a medium heavy fast but fishes more like a light medium heavy mod fast. Best trap rod I’ve ever used including composite rods
Clark, you are spot on. I live north of Jackson hill marina and I run this VS the boat lane chip on the sse side of bird island all the time. There are always floaters out there. The best set up is like your pictures for everyone to set color changes on their units for mapping (I use birds) and change their water level as well depending on the lake level. swing north as well leaving the drain as the amber forest swings north. Good stuff!! Currently at 6.5 ft low this is a NO GO. I idled through last weekend and was bottoming out. So idle through amber back to boat lane on the far (west) side or run the south lane past Calhoun point and use the cut between amber forest and black forest. I would suggest anyone research that cut between both forests well as it is not very wide. Thanks for the videos. Good stuff!!
Clark… I entered three of the waypoints you had marked on the video. Two were just off of the dam and one in the Angelina river looks like a mile south of the dam. Any insight on this??
Make sure that the waypoint format is correct on the unit you are entering the points into. I just loaded them up on a client's boat and they came out correct.
The pressure is what has removed the 3-5 pound fish. Those get hauled to tournament weigh ins the most and up to 30% die after being released. Hauling fish around in the live well all day leads to delayed mortality. Not my opinion it is what the biologists are saying. Weigh and release immediately needs to become the norm.
Hello, I just got a new boat and it has the active target on it but I’m not too familiar with the settings and stuff and I was wondering what settings would be good in general for any type of water? How should I set it up so I can see the fish more clearly? I am fishing mostly shallow lakes but there is a deeper lake up in Michigan I fish so I’m assuming I just need to adjust the depth downward on the settings but wasn’t sure if you could help me out. Thanks
I was out graphing last week and ran across a perfect school of biggins on a deep lay down. Couldn't get them to bite so I dropped down my aqua view camera and it was 5-6 Buffalo.
I used this secret boat lane today and never knew about it until I saw this video a few days ago. It was a huge factor in running back to Umphreys in the big wind today.
