"an innocent T-rex".... wut!!! dude had to be from California. you drew the t-rex. nothing in the way you drew him indicated "innocent". he looked mean and was obviously going to eat the guy. he didnt look like he need much coaxing. and when something is going to eat you thats called self defense. im pretty sure thats legal in all states lol. t-rex is like a big chicken from where im sitting. and chickens are one of the dumbest and nastiest animals ever. and theyll eat ANYTHING. including chicken. i cant have sympathy for a predator thats going to eat me even if they are being "mind controlled" or whatever. besides the main guy is an outlaw with questionable morals anyways (he wouldnt care if it was "innocent". personally i think character consistency is more important than political corectness. i liked the story better when the guy had a t-rex and told it to chase the guy. it makes more sense than if he turned into the t rex. also, in my opinion the steak should have been bigger (like 75lbs or somethin like a flintstone steak) like it was all the little dude could do to lift it on to the table. for the most part though, its really cool base idea and i like the art style.
Is unbelievable how many good comic books you were capable to finish and release. I wish I have this kind of focus, I’m trying to release my own comic book for years, and I never get it done, cos the amount of work I get in the comic books field. You are a big inspiration for me.Thanks for all those great videos.
I'd make a couple of very simple foundational points. Don't go with your first idea, however good it seems. Use it as a starting point to make something better. Your story idea must excite _you_ in some way. Don't assume that it will grip others, but you're not that into it. ie its not perfect but 'it will do'. You'll do a better job on all the hard work if you feel it's an exciting idea. And finally. Surprise the reader. If the story lulls, make something happen. We all want to be thrilled, not to have to wade through a story. I have a low boredom threshold, if I wanted a 300 page novel where a Russian man comes to term with his mortality and buys a coat, I'd read Dostoyevsky. We read comics for excitement. Excite me.
an artist must yogically create the subject in the mind and then it will create itself physically. Like, the process will flow very naturally. So you manifest it.
I just found this video yesterday to help with my art block. I haven’t had an education in actual story writing besides for elementary when my teacher broke down story writing, so this helps out immensely. The quote towards the end is amazing and reminds me of a quote of Jack Kirby that I love so much I have it on my arm “kid, comics will break your heart” and when you said roughly that getting frustrated in your story process is a sign of heading in the right direction, it’s given me new hope! Thank you so much.
Welp here we are a year later. Ai videos and movies are coming out, and anti-ai 'Artists" are so out of arguments that they're accusing real artists of being fake, basically gatekeeping the art world. Welcome back to N. Germany.
hi my name is brandon im autistic and my passion is animation i adore collecting art books i own the zootopia one were getting a sequel next year and i love drawing animal characters and im doing that for my own cartoon
8:15 😦🤯 and in 30 seconds, you just explained story beats in a way I understand… instead of making it so complex and convoluted, the answer becomes vague… but still needs an hour and it’s own video. 🙄 Thank you! ❤
An easy way to find weird stuff is to search stuff by recent. Stuff that was made hours ago. You'll find weird stuff, low effort stuff, things you never want to see again, but it'll be interesting.
Remember - you are loved! Jesus loved you and gave His life so you can be free because of Him! He died on the cross so we can be set free. He wants all of us to repent of our sins and be given a new life in Him! He does to all who choose to believe in Him, trust Him and follow Him xx He will give us the power to ivercome sin in our lives today x He will never leave you nor forsake you xxx
I agree that social media is turning things upside down for real artists, but I don't think going physical media is a solution to the problem, you'd escape the problem, but not solve it. There has to be a way to utilize the internet to build an audience wthout falling into the algorithm traps.
Hey, Jake, I’m doing a 30 day art challenge where I draw a chameleon for 30 minutes for the month of July. The first half is going to be drawing a chameleon from reference, the second half will be from imagination. I was hoping of what do you think of this challenge I gave my self and do you think I can improve my drawing with this? Respond when you can.
For anyone in a VERY low point, I strongly encourage you to look up Neil Gaiman's "Make Good Art" speech. Any time I get into a funk where I hate everything I make, I look this up and listen to it again. One of my favorite excerpts: "Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before...Make your mistakes, next year and forever.” Otherwise, I cycle between these depending on what I recognize I need that day: - "Being a good [craftsperson] isn't about never making mistakes. You will always make mistakes. It's about how well you fix, hide, or learn from those mistakes" (additional note that this came from a professional/competitive quilter known for her precision in her quilts) - "All experience is good experience, as long as it's experience" - "You can't build a city in a day." - "Remember--it's always trash CAN, never trash CANNOT" (usually said immediately after throwing a creation I hate into the bin or other points of low self-confidence)
