Gosh! You are ever so inspirational. I've commented before about using a HP planner for my notes then make outside of the page protectors for my PL pages. I love how you mix and mingle your kit components together; it makes me rethink my AE supplies. Thank you for sharing all your creative content and best of luck with setting up your new reading room.
Love, love, love this kit! I am looking into Cocoa Daisy, can you tell me a little more about the differences between the travelers notebook option vs pocket page option? I'm looking on site, but it doesn't give much of a description... I am working in a TN for the first time for a beachy vacation we took in June, so thinking I may try the TN with the current into the blue kit, and then go with the pocket pages for this kit in August, your thoughts?
Thank you! And, of course, I’d be happy to help. The scrapbooking kit comes with the 6x8 papers + stamp + all the embellishments and then you select your add on. If you select the pocket page one you get the pocket cards, 24 3x4 cards and 4 6x4 cards. If you select the notebook option instead, you get the notebook instead of the pocket cards. Otherwise, the kits are identical. Personally I always get the pocket cards because that’s my preferred way to document, but I think that seems like a fun idea to switch it up month to month if you do both! If you’re new to Cocoa Daisy I have an affiliate code that works for one time to get 10% off your first order: LINDA10. cocoadaisy.com/?sjram=0tuZOeseFnxg
@LindaLovesCreating thank you! I did end up ordering the core kit with pocket pages and added on the notebook just to use for the vacation project I'm wanting to document with that size, and I used your code!! Any tips for joining as a subscriber for this beautiful kit coming in August?!
You could consider writing a list of those long phrases so u know what u have to use up. I don’t have a lot of chipboard but I do love seeing you open the drawer full of choices.
I have sooo many screen shots- now I know what to do with them! I started a common place sometime ago, but didn’t work in it, putting the info from screenshots and it is perfect! Are you still keeping up with yours?
Yes!! I work in mine about once per month and find that is plenty of time to add in all the accumulated bits. I actually have a more recent video where I share an update here: 2024 Commonplace Book // Updates & answering common questions ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bPtT76FgcgQ.html
Not specifically, but I do have an older process video where I also share my process on the computer. I have been meaning to film an updated version so stay tuned! In the meantime, here is the one I have: 2022 Project Life Process: Week 19 Ali Edwards Delight Story Kit ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X0hfX0by-c8.html
This is a huge help for me in just getting a framework for my own thinking/planning on how to set up so many years worth of albums for my sons. I am motivated after seeing this video. This week I will set up their albums in volumes like yours and will definitely be using my kits to document these albums! Feeling much less overwhelmed after seeing this video! Thanks!!
Thank you for sharing! I like the idea of using monthly kits to go back and document a month in my kids' albums, especially this years SBTM kits I feel like they come with so much stuff. My boys are 10 and 5 and I think where I get hung up is feeling like I need to create a 12x12 spread for each thing...but seeing how you're using pocket pages is such a light bulb moment! Thank you!
That’s so awesome! And totally agree about this year’s SBTM kits. I def should’ve done that for a year too, but I feel like working through one year at a time is a good pace for me. Good luck with your projects!
Really enjoy your videos. You are incredibly inspirational. Like you I record my family's life in words into my HP Big Dashboard planner then marry those with my PL spreads (photos/cards/words). I combine them together into one binder. And like you I inset extra tidbits into my binder, mostly like at the end of that month's stories Some of my PL are blank but since I've inserted my HP planner pages of what happened; it makes documenting easier. This method, my method is because of you inspiring me of how you create your life's documentation. I do not hace individual books for my kids beyond their 1st years as for me it is easier to document as a family bringing together everyone into one place. Though really love what you've done for your daughter Summer ❤
Thank you! So happy to hear how I've inspired you. For me, it works to keep separate albums for her partially because I only have one child so it's less to keep up with, but also because I see her wanting to take these with her once she's settled as an adult whereas I'll keep my project life albums. I also focus more on my story in those albums, but I definitely don't think separate albums are necessary! That's great you have found a system that works for you, thank you so much for your thoughtful comment.
This is great. Thank you for sharing. I have so much stuff for my son and daughter and I love that you have created homes and a sort of structure and can go back and fill in. This makes it all so much less overwhelming.
Think of your days of the week stickers like alphas or word phrase strips. You don't feel bad about not using all of those at once! 10:44 10:44 You use some for the project at hand and save the rest. They won't be wasted! And if you have random days leftover those could go in their own sticker category to grab from later!
Amazing! Thank you for posting this. I'm definitely going to grab some pocket pages and start with some photos and memborilla that I have. I haven't decided yet if I just want to document or to make into like monthly spreads, with a few layouts thrown in for special days like birthdays etc. but your right, it's a working progress so I'm just going to start and see where I end up, thank you so much for this ❤
That sounds like a great starting place! You can always start with just what you feel inspired to create and then create a framework as you start to fill in the albums. Have fun!
My project life album is chronological and I typically create it in that order, although not always. My other ongoing albums are created in a similar style to this one. Currently I have a set of 9x12 stories albums that are primarily about me + annual 6x8 albums about me. The annual ones I add to enough to fill out one album per year, but I add to them out of order similar to my daughter’s albums. I have some other videos about these other albums in my full album flip through playlist.
Love this! I have two girls, one in elementary and one going into middle school. I’ve been wanting to document them but wasn’t sure how to go back and tell their stories. Thank you for the inspiration 😊
Hi Linda so glad ive found your channel. Im in the UK and originally heard of Becky Higgins project life in about 2013. My son was 2. I knew i wanted to document using physical photos and ticket stubs etc etc. I brought a Becky Higgins album and then life went crazy. I ended up just using normal photo albums. My boy is now 13 and i have some time to myself again so im planning on going back and moving it all into project life albums. Do you think this is possible? Ive seen a couple of your videos and will watch more in time. I did want to move everything into just 1 album per age but i dont think that will be possible with the amount of photos that i have. Do you do a separate album for your daughter? Any little tips you have would be great. Im going to look at getting some kits to get me started and some various pocket pages as until i start going through photos im not sure which sizes will work best where etc. Thanks for helping a girl out, this has been stressing me for months with what to do 😊
Thank you and welcome to my channel! It is definitely possible to go back and document older years! I do keep separate albums for her and am actually working on going back and filling those in now. I have a video coming soon sharing my process for those albums and I also share process videos for some of the spreads when I go back and work on older stories (I am currently working my way through 2020 in pocket pages in her album). As far as going back to start your albums, I suggest starting with a framework (set up your albums, slip a few dividers or other identifying things in your album, figure out how you want it to be laid out) and then put pages together as you're inspired to do so. But def more tips coming soon in my video about my daughter's albums, so stay tuned for that one!
Thank you so much for your reply. I will await for your video before I do much more, as I really can't decide what's best and it's stressing me. I'm torn between doing project life as an "album" adding dates to each picture and little captions or doing a baby scrapbook and then starting project life as monthly layouts so there is a bit of order and I don't need to date every individual photo. Im hoping to get some time this weekend to watch some more of your videos x
I really like these videos (and the cameos from Pumpkin). Your craft room looks like it has great light and I’m looking forward to seeing how you reconfigure your space. I feel like I’m always changing up small things in mine as my crafty habits change.
Thank you! I don’t think I’ll move the desk because the sunlight is perfect with it like that! The extra storage/decor def needs a switch up though. ❤️
This is a great video and I like how you have updated your process since your AE Class which I loved as well. Just so I understand, are you now keeping everything in your planner ( ideas, yearly goals, monthly goals, list of kits and action steps? Also, I have not only accumulated AE kits, Cocoa Daisy Kits, Heidi Swapp kits, etc., I also "collect" Simple Stories Bundles and Echo Paper Bundles. Not sure if you use the bundles and wondered how you would keep all of this information tracked. Thank you so much, Linda.
Thank you! Yes everything related to craft planning is now in this one planner. It’s similar to the craft planner I had in my class as far as use. The only real difference is I’ve added in my kit plans in here rather than a separate binder to have it all in one place. I don’t use those bundles so I don’t have great tips for them, sorry! But I track all my supplies in and out regardless of brand as best I can (see my most recent plan with me video! It shows my June set up) and do project plans when it makes sense. I hope this helps! ❤️
Thanks for sharing! Hoping to complete a week in the life sometime in my lifetime. I have tried starting it many times and usually by day 2 i forget about it and don’t take a single picture.
It’s definitely a huge project but totally worth it! If you know you’re likely to forget to capture photos, I’d recommend setting alerts on your phone to remind you. I also am often reminded because I do the project with the community every year so if I check instagram during the day I will see others posting about it and be reminded.
Love this idea! I have a 9 month old boy and am new to scrapbooking. How would you recommend going about documenting for babies vs old kids/teens? Also, how would you go about managing projects like this for multiple kids? Thanks
The short answer would be to set up a framework for your albums and then add a little at a time, out of order. I have a video coming soon that will share a lot more about my process for this so stay tuned!
This is a great idea. I have two boys ages 25 and 28 and am keeping up with their “currently album” but am struggling with which pictures dating back to their childhood I should document and which ones will just need to stay in my picture box storage…. I am trying to figure out a formula to get me started. This video is very helpful!
Thank you so much for sharing! Love seeing other scrapbookers that have lots of routine in their lives. Love your large photos and all the pictures of Pumpkin.
