The Joint Readiness Training Center is the premier crucible training experience. We prepare units to fight and win in the most complex environments against world-class opposing forces. We are America’s leadership laboratory.

This podcast isn’t an academic review of historical vignettes or political-science analysis of current events. This is a podcast about warfighting and the skillsets necessary for America’s Army to fight and win on the modern battlefield.

One thing I would suggest is that we build the operation around the most limiting factor of battle in this case, and in many cases it’s tactical communications. To many times the maneuver leaders, especially at the tactical edge, (DIV and Below) selects the training terrain, the training objectives, lay the logistics and have a plan to synchronize lethality then call in the S6 to get it talking. I recommend flipping the paradigm. Plan the comms and then lay everything else on top of it. Great discussion keep up the good work gents! Update: 27:38 hits it on the head. 😂

What I am curious is how I saw so many ford raptors and high trim level fords as government vehicles but the barracks looks as if you could contract cancer from them. I would have much rather slept outside than be in those buildings. Also I strive to eat healthy and be healthy but what the army feeds us is just crap. If you want us to be healthy then feed us the right way.

A lot of great words. I’m just a SPC here who joined late in life (under 3 years in and 28 years old). The way he describes what an NCO should be unfortunately is not what I see for the most part. I actually just had a conversation with a 1SG where we talked about expectations of a junior enlisted soldier. He said PRT (being fit) is a main part of being a soldier. I agreed wholeheartedly. He asked me my ACFT score and I told him 540. He told me that’s a garbage score and I’m failing as a soldier then. Seriously. Word for word that’s what he told me. Now I’m 28 years old. He couldn’t hurt my feelings if he tried all day, but I can imagine some impressionable 18 or 19 year old and how they would take that type of feedback. Maybe I’m wrong and that’s how a 1SG should be. But it felt so wrong and so disappointing. And I see examples of this again and again and again. If the goal is to have NCOs who are “personable” and who “care”…there’s a lot of work to be done. Keep in mind though, I’ve been in 2 units under only 3 different commanders. My experience is very limited. But it’s been enough for me to decide it’s better to move on to other things…

Former Geronimo here, if you want to know how to cheat, just ask an enlisted OPFOR. We know how to cheat lol. 2 of the easiest ways: 1. To avoid getting shot, hide behind any bush. Doesn't really matter how thick, but the thicker the better. The twigs and branches interfere with the enemies' lasers. You can stick your rifle and laser through the bush and return fire like it's god-mod. 2. To silently fuck with enemy soldiers, just tap the microphone on your rifle's MILES laser unit. It will shoot out a beam and kill whoever it's aimed at. They'll have no idea where the fire is coming from.

@TheCrucible-TheJRTCExperience
@TheCrucible-TheJRTCExperience 17 дней назад
That’s actually a myth. According to the National Archives, between 1964 and 1973, more than 8.7 million Americans served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Vietnam War, with approximately 2.7 million of them serving in Vietnam itself. Approximately 40,934 Americans were killed in action (KIA). That’s approximately 1.5% of those American military service members that served in Vietnam were KIA.

Are paratroopers cannon fodder
@TheCrucible-TheJRTCExperience
@TheCrucible-TheJRTCExperience 17 дней назад
Paratroopers are not "cannon fodder" any more than any other infantry soldiers, despite the misconception that their missions involve disproportionate risk. The term "cannon fodder" suggests a disregard for the lives of soldiers, seeing them as expendable in battle. However, paratroopers are highly trained, elite forces who are often deployed in critical operations that require speed, surprise, and the ability to operate deep behind enemy lines. Their missions are carefully planned with a focus on achieving strategic objectives with minimal casualties, leveraging their unique capabilities in airborne assault, rapid deployment, and securing key terrain. While all infantry soldiers face the inherent dangers of close combat, labeling them as "cannon fodder" overlooks their professionalism, the strategic importance of their missions, and the extensive support systems in place to enhance their effectiveness and survivability on the battlefield.

I would argue we don't need to bring back the 9th Infantry Division just to have a light infantry unit again...rather, just make the XVIIIth Abn Corps a Corps of Light infantry that is specialized (terrain specific, insertion platform training) and specially equipped (101st CAB, etc.). For example, imagine every Division and Brigade in the XVIIIth being a light unit with light training and capabilities, with terrain specific training varying between each unit. 101st Abn (LIGHT) Air Assault, 82nd Abn (Light) Airborne, 11th Abn (Light) Arctic Airborne, 10th Mtn (Light) Mountain Arctic, etc. Also, when will the 10th Mountain and the Army's Mountain Warfare School move to Colorado? Imagine co-locating the 10th Mtn next to the 10th SFG & US Army SF Mountain Warfare School while also having the conventional Mountain Warfare School in the SAME state 1 hour east at Camp Hale, and the ability to use these resources to boost the Army's part time Mountain capability with the CO NG. I know the Soldiers in Vermont are doing a great job, but come on- unless you're going to move the 10th Mountain to VT, it should be in CO. 4th ID will be fine at Drum/ Polk. Also, why is the 25th ID not part of the XVIIIth Abn Corps, and a Light Jungle Division that is airmobile and motorised? Why is there no desert division for the XVIIIth Abn Corps too?
