I think a draw is a fair result. Sainz hit the post and bar, as lucky as our equaliser was, as other people have mentioned Sargent would've had a tap in if it didn't hit Dieng's leg, and your first goal was also a bit lucky. Terrible goalkeeping at his near post

Doak is unreal. Sainz is unreal. Two excellent players, two excellent teams. I think the Boro guy in this video has posted this when he’s still smarting - shouldn’t be so down. Like you said you’d have taken a point and you got a point. But you also showed that Boro are probably very close to being the best team in the league and if you play like that every week you’re going up. Of course maintaining that consistency is another matter! We on the other hand are at the very start of a total rebuild and overhaul so not expecting miracles just yet! Top 6 is possible but we’re nowhere near at the level that JHT is aspiring too in terms performances. If he can get us to that level watch out championship-but I don’t see it happening this season.
Best team we’ve had here during our unbeaten home run. Doak is ridiculous. Can’t blame Dieng for our third goal- poor bloke made a great save but the laws of physics let him down!
But Dieng did fluff that cross at his near post. If it doesn’t catch his foot it’s right there for Sarge to nod in. Our (Norwich) fans would not be forgiving if it was Long, that much is certain!
Norwich Fan very fair assessment. Borja seems to keep poping up with goals like that he's now got 120 for season. Thought we started well, got the goal then you took over and were excellent for the rest of the first half. The penalty save was a major turning point (after the game there was an interview with the keeper and he said he'd looked at the stats for Conway taking penalties and it was around 50/50 either side. so he decied to ssee which way he was going to put it.We seemed to gain a yard after that. Our third goal was a complete freak of a goal keeper pushes it to hit his foot and go in the net. I thought we could then go on and get all three points, until the sending off from my view in the groud it looked a late tackle and he just caught him on the foot. I sit around the halfwat line in the City stand opposit stand to the away fans. Looking at it again today can see why it was a red. Ref didn't have a great game thought he missed fouls for both teams during the match. You are the best team i've seen at carrow road this season and can't see any reason why you won't finish in the top six. Maybe we'll see you in the play-offs again.
Sorry, don’t agree there was nothing we could do about the Norwich goals - well, two of them at least. The defence parted Red Sea style for the first goal - Morris didn’t track his man and VDB got drawn out and was got round too easily. Sainz’ shot was excellent but he shouldn’t have been allowed in to take it. You just have to applaud his second - a worldy. The third was just a catalogue of errors - no-one got anywhere near Fisher to stop the cross and Dieng’s positioning and subsequent parry were poor. After our scintillating first half display I was still not confident at the half time break that Boro would see the game through. They were too passive at the start of the second half and even then Norwich weren’t at it. It took Conway’s disastrous penna to light their touch paper. It’s not kismet or some kind of curse - it’s just continued rank bad game management.
Dieng was beaten at his near post, a cardinal sin for a keeper. Even if he hadn’t knocked it in the was a Norwich player waiting to do so. Also his distribution was woeful throughout the game.
Norwich supporter here - agree after going behind 'Boro were top class - though it often doesn't take a lot to get through NCs defence !, I think it may be harsh to say 'Boro should have won' , I think a draw was a fair result . Worth noting if the equaliser hadn't hit the GKs foot & gone in then Sargent would of had a tap in . Anyways football is an entertainment - enjoy the rest of the season .
On the balance of play MIDDLEBOROUGH deserved all three points but this is the championship and the best team does not always win, as in the premier league moments of magic win games and today Sainz produced two world class finishes to keep NORWICH in the game
I agree first half Boro were outstanding and by far the best team we have played,the penalty save was the turning point ,sainz goals top drawer and he is getting better,no Angus Gunn,or Nunez in midfield we missed badly,but our team has character and to bounce back after getting over run first half is credit to the coaching staff,Boro should be top 6 end of the season after that performance 👍💛💚🇬🇫🔰
Norwich fan here. Boro are by far the best team we’ve seen this season, your midfield were outstanding and we couldn’t cope for large parts. I think you’ll finish top 6 easily. It was a fantastic game and good luck for the rest of the season.

As a Norwich fan, if I may say so, if you’re constantly “unlucky”, you either don’t have the players to play the system or the system doesn’t work. Unlikely to be coincidence if it keeps happening.
It’s a fair point Dom. Yesterday I thought we were unfortunate due to the mental circumstances we went from potentially 4-1 to 3-3, but you’re spot on, and as I say, the majority of the times this season, it’s all come from our own shocking errors and we’ve cost ourselves points, yesterday I thought for the first time we did everything we needed too and it was frustrating it still didn’t end up being enough, but, Carrow Road is probably the toughest place to go in the league so in hindsight it’s probably a very good point for us
It's true, but this game did feel especially unlucky. I think the system is fine, but e.g. mentality when missing penalty, and after that, there are of course things to work on.
Two excellent teams and I’d say with certainty that Middlesbrough were the best team I’ve seen at Carrow Road this season. Norwich were excellent at the start, Middlesbrough were far better for 30mins in the 1st half, but apart from some flashes of excellence, Norwich went to 3 at the back in the 2nd half and were slightly the better team until their red card. I’d therefore say the draw was deserved by both teams. The penalty and red card were correct, but the referee was inconsistent. The manhandling of Sargent deserved a second yellow, yet it didn’t even earn a free kick. He also fell for a lot of diving and faking by Boro players who were dropping dead at the faintest of tackles as they desperately defended their lead at 3-2. Two goalkeeper errors gifted both teams a goal, yet both keepers made excellent saves, Norwich looked like they could win the game late in the 2nd half, until McLean got sent off and then it was Norwich who were hanging on. Excitement, goals, cards, saved penalties, crowd atmosphere, it was all there. Great game, let’s see both teams promoted! Oh, and well done with your assessment, I like your use of statistics. However, when you count a weak shot on goal that goes straight to the keeper, it’s as good as a miss, yet skews the whole picture. All the best to you for the rest of the season.
Seny is fault and also the substitutes to take doak off was a joke and the penalty miss was huge put you best set pieces on pens the pen was very poor!
Boro were probably the best team we’ve played at home this season. The game was a great advert for the championship. Ref had a bit of an odd game he got the pen and red card call right but some of the fouls he was giving weren’t fouls and then others that were fouls he didn’t give. Why you subbed off Doak he had our defence on toast every time he got the ball on the wing he beat the defenders.
It was a super entertaining game for the neutral. The goals were so good and high quality. Boro was class, yet the second half, so were Norwich. Boro is going to be up there at the end of the season. There's no doubting that. I think luck will change, but my question is, do you think there's some sort of mentality issue? Maybe that's where the f8ne margins are lying for you. But man, the goals conceded were unavoidable. Crazy game tbh. A point away to Norwich is a great result, but i understand why you will feel disappointed based on events of the game.

Your commentry is mostly fair but from a norwich point of view you probably should have had a player sent off for 2 yellow cards in the first half which could have changed the game having said that the resmd card Mclean got was completely fair.
Keep seeing this comment, Sargent ran into Edmondson to attempt to block him so he'd be unable to cut ball out. If you look at the replay he's looking straight at him and not the ball, so before he's even touched Sargent has committed the foul.

What a crazy game! You're rightfully disappointed, should have been a win for you. You have to take positives, I'm glad Doak is really doing well now! But you can't help but feel you've been incredibly unlucky again, there's just something with your club where for some reason it's just not happening. I guess you'd call that the Typical Boro thing, but how many more games and dropped points will you get?? How long does this need to go on before it's not just bad luck? Also have to recognise that was a brilliant cross by Fisher and the keeper fluffed it at his near post (just as Long did for first goal), so if it doesn’t bounce in off his foot Sargent is right there to nod it in
I'm just speechless after watching that one. Lost for words lately. 3-1 up and missed a pen. We are playing some scintilating attacking football, the game should of been won in the first 45 minutes, slick as ever but once again we snatch a point from the jaws of victory at Carrow Road. Ben Doak was absolutely superb today, what an absolute talent this lad is. Baffling though how these talking points keep coming up. What must Michael Carrick be thinking watching some of these worldies flying in. Hopefully the saying is true though, luck evens out during the season. If this does happen then nobody in this league can live with us playing this sort of slick attacking football. UTB. 🔴⚪

Another round of Championship madness! That Coventry Luton game was insane, a game both needed to win. I think they'll surely have enough to not be in the relegation fight, but not where they wanted to be at this stage. There's a bit of gap forming, but teams such as yourself and Norwich, even Watford are still in the fight for play-offs. As you said, all it takes is a couple of wins in a row and it could catapult you up the table. Incredibly close!
That’s it mate enjoy it! Whenever Boro have had a good spell I always look back after I wish I’d enjoyed it more. All teams will hit a bump in the road, depends how big that bump might be for Sunderland but no absolutely do enjoy the good times
They say the sign of a good side, is one who still win or draw when they're not playing well. Sunderland are doing this ,and when they play well are great to watch blowing teams away.
Personally, I would start Latte Lath. I feel against Sheff U we missed Latte's flick ons as well as he pace and power. I think Tommy could be better suited to a number 10 (Akpom style) but Azaz has that nailed down at the moment.
We are now 11 points clear of boro, we can break teams down where Burbley couldn't WBA couldn't so i know Sunderland are your rivals but you have to admit we are bang on form

I watched the game but credit to oxford they tried to play their style but we didn't give them anything, this was a professional commanding display Mepham again,rigg,jobe,neil were immense & wilson isidor what a goal this is 4 in 5 what a signing he's been 5 points clear Burnley Leeds & WBA dropping points where we aren't this gives us the chance if we do lose a game then draw 2 we will stay top we are a team on form 5 unbeaten only 4 goals conceded in 7 games we are a force
Norwich haven’t lost at home since November last year think it’s 21 games now. If they avoid defeat tomorrow it be 1 whole calendar year undefeated at home that’s impressive in the championship tbf
I enjoyed watching this with a very interesting look and view via excellent statistics. From a Norwich persecutive, I agree with all you say except your analysis of Duffy. If you’d said he’s a weakness last season, I would have fully agreed with you. However, under the new regime, Duffy has been transformed and looks like a new man. Not only has he been sound in defence, he even scored an excellent goal in striker fashion against Preston on Tuesday. I agree there will be goals and we are weakened by the absence of Gunn and Nunez. However, this is a team with a new resilience that can come back away from home when down to draw, but at home, can either score first and win well, or come back when down and still win. To that end, I’d predict a 3-1 win for Norwich.

5:26 Please let me assure you. George Long is not our 1st choice keeper. Norwich are without their by far best Gk and their best box to box midfielder Nunez.
Boro have to stop playing out from the back, they make too many errors. I dont think i saw it against Sheff Utd and they played really well. Plus, per game they've had more shots than Bryan Robson on a night out. They have to start putting them away.
