Bit of a longshot, but does anyone know which piston rings are compatible with these high compression JE's? Suddenly burning oil and I have a feeling it's a ring. Just don't know if OEM rings will fit Dale's pistons
Just got to expensive for the gains delivered Fatty. I would pull the head, have it milled .025, touch up the valve job with new guide seals. Lightly hone the cylinder and install new rings. Cheers DW
Glad I found your channel, I’ve been a fan of yours since the 80’s I’ve had 2 V-Max’s an ‘88 and an ‘06, best bikes I’ve ever ridden!!! Wish I still had them, wish you were still working on V-Max’s! Ridden and built a couple of Harley’s. I’ve been looking at the ZX-14R’s and the Z H 2’s, miss the torque and adrenaline rush of the V-Max’s… was a member of the VMOA…. Very sorry to hear you’ve been fighting cancer for 3 years , that really sucks man…. If you’re working on the ZH2’s I know that’s the way to go!!!! You rock man!!!!
Most power gains from a ported TB are a result of reducing the throttle shaft diameter. No company does this better than Katech....period. I have yet to see a company that reduces the throttle shaft diameter further to the edge. No, soler is not even close.
Do you still own this amigo? Recently purchased one and the dipstick is broken. Could you tell me how long the dipstick should be and where I could purchase one from.
Epic. Just got myself a 2004 from the tow yard this afternoon. Beautiful machine. Haven’t taken her on the highway yet. 70mph so far. Had the bike for less than 12 hours. Excited for this new journey . Cheers and thx for the great video!
Awesome video! Love the unwieldy wheeliein ZH2. Looks to be quite the challenge to get that power down even for an experienced rider but guess that’s all part of the fun! 🤙
Great vids and always good to find someone who really knows what they’re talking about. I love my ZH2 but knowing my limits it’s more bike than I can ever use and I will never get the most out of it like you will. Couple of mods I’m v happy with is the back seat cowl to be able to sit back when you need to and I went with the Vandemon titanium H2 replica full system exhaust- weight is nothing and sounds/looks awesome! I picked up a 69,000mi ‘09 1250A a few months ago because one of the last owners was blessed enough to have kitted it out with a bunch of your goodies - and it’s my favorite bike I’ve ever ridden. My 02 is a torque monster. You don't even have to get your gear right every time. If the gear is too high it will blow past the shift point before you can downshift. Not so much after 4th...but you are speeding into hell at that point anyway! And I tend to date curvy girls with big butts that like to race off the light. Motor grunts, rear suspension sinks even cranked all the way up, front wheel comes up. Fucing heaven on earth. 🎉🎉
Very little to none with the bar end kit. I no longer have shims, but easy to find on e bay. Please note > We are closes at this time, we are moving our home and entire shop and I'm in my 3rd cancer battle. Thanks DW
Great video Dale, Bought one of these weekend just gone so very informative on what just a couple of mods can do. I have an exhaust on order already lol so will start to look at filters next, Just exited as not even run in yet haha but approx 208ps is pretty cool :-)
I have the same bike and the Scorpion Red Power slip-on. I need a damper, nearly lost the bike, hitting a bump @ 90 plus Mph, death wobble, scary sh*t. Keep up the good work and may the bike Gods keep you safe.
Dale, it's so great to see you're still plugging away. I'm about the same age as you, but I hadn't heard of you being active in quite a while. I stumbled upon your videos after just buying the identical bike. I rode 1st and 2nd Gen V-Max's, built of course by Jon Cornell (we really miss you Jon). I fell in love with the ZX-14R, but I wanted something a little more upright as I get older. Other than a few bolt-ons, I'm going to leave my ECU stock for now, for warranty reasons. I thought seriously about it, and contacted Chris Moore but never heard back from him. I'd love to hear your input on the steering damper, I've seen some videos where they kind of show one is necessary exactly for the reasons you outline. I'd also love to hear your thoughts on the Power Bronze wind screen as far as head buffeting in everyday riding. It's about the best looking tallish screen I've seen.
Hi John, the damper is not a bad idea. I have some clearance issues , but not hard to sort that out. Screen really helps but you still need to tuck in at speed. Cheers Dale

Hi Dale, do you still make that seat in 2024? I'm wondering which material is better, vinyl or leather for an SV650 that will be ridden in Canada (so a lot of rain). Thanks!
Marine grade Vinyl is what you want. Yes we can still make our seats, but its getting expensive. We are closed at this time moving, and I'm in round 3 with my cancer, Not Fun !
Hey, I have the same bike, and bought it to take it to the drag strip. The 2 strips I go to are 1/8th mile (surely not a strong-point for a bike that likes to wheelie). I'm thinking the brock's bolt on swing-arm extensions and an ECU re-flash is probably the best money to invest in the quest for lowest ets and of course practice / seat time? Anyways it's cool to see someone with the same bike as me with similar goals, the best of luck to you, and stay safe sir!
Hi there 54. I bought a like new used swing arm and plan to make my own extensions for my bike about 8 to 10" longer, and they will be weld up. Then run it a few times before re flash. Cant beat Brocks for a simple bolt on. Cheers Dale
I have a 2023 Z900RS and the plug you used is red on this bike, but is a smaller connector than the one on the OBD adapter. At this point, I'm not sure what to do. If the red plug is the new adapter, I don't have a cable for it. I do have the other adapter that is supposed to be for ABS, and did try that as well, but the scanner doesn't find the engine. EDIT I searched for this plug, and found that it's a EURO 5 diagnostic plug and it is red. This means I have to get myself this adapter from Euro 5 to OBD2, they are available, but it looks like I will be out another $30 or so. This has been in use since 2021. I don't know if this is on American bikes too, but my bike is Canadian and they often sell us the Euro versions.
Nice run. I remember the Jay Gleason run too. Those sounded great piped at full chat. Similar to a SBC. Still love my Eliminator. Love all bikes though.
Glad you're back and feeling well - but sorry to hear you're retiring. Will anybody be taking over the business? I cannot imagine a world without your well-engineered kits for all my older Suzukis. Bought your pipe, twin oval filters, Stage II jet kit and 5 degree advancer for my 1999 1200 Bandit S, and the difference was night and day.
