You’re fine. I have a 2024 ram 1500 3.6 torque (leased) and towed 3 yards of crushed stone with a 3k lb dump trailer. Total weight about 11,500. Truck is only rated for 6,500 lol lol
I had a truck like yours longhorn edition, etorque hemi with tow package 4x4 and no stability bars on the hitch. …brought it to the CAT scale with the trailer. We were hauling a 24 foot 7’ interior with a slight v-nose and 2 axles- full to the gills to the front side door with a little space in the front for ballast. Grand total weight was 18,100 pounds on the dot. Trailer axle was showing 10,500 pounds on the dot. Dialed in the attenuation on the trailer brakes from the dash with a few breaking tests… Then we safely drove it from Illinois to Phoenix. No issues whatsoever with power torque anything except a huge fuel bill. Needless to say, I’m framing that cat scale ticket.
Hello, Are you interested in testing our products? We would like to invite you to test the R2.5" Lift Kit for your 2Can am Commander 800 ( if your car year is 2011-2020)
Forget the "towing capacity" ratings. You'll never get there without exceeding the gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of your truck. The towing capacity rating assumes a mere 400 pounds of occupants, cargo and fuel. Drag your rig across a CAT Scale and compare the gross to your GCWR. You're overweight.
I have Chevy Silverado Texas edition it can pull 9,000 but maybe can go up to 12,0000. But our 5th wheel travel trailer is 15,000 the truck 20" tire's should be good. Maybe could better shock's or something and turbo to give it more power.
Not married to any brand but a fan of the Hemi and the Cayote will always be. And as for towing I thought the world of them. Since I have towed over a hundred TT's and heavy equipment. With the trucks they gave me for the delivery which are all nicely equipped trucks; nothing less then a Big Horn or an XLT. But then it happened my first tow with a new 3.5 Turbo 2021 XLT F150; delivery to Boone, NC. towing a 27ft Airstream. Game changer how a Turbo handles the hills and small NE mountains. Not dropping gears constantly to capture torque even over an overpass Hwy bridge the 5.7 or the 5.0 and the 5.3 Chevy had to hunt down for gears since these motors have No Low End Torque. Yet gas Turbos' act just like a diesel on the grades. Turbos allow for low end torque giving you that smooth consistency of RPM range; which also reflects in better MPG's when towing and to add the 10 speed trans also improves overall towing characteristics. This is a good video and we need more like this; so that others can capture confidence what their trucks can handle. I placed a request to use the F150 3.5 Ecoboost XLT for most of my delivery's when called on. And the owner who is also a business associate had no issues. Larger loads, like the one you have there? As of today the fleet of trucks is 60% Turbo. Toyota and Ford and love how the Tundra's turbo tows as well. But we are all awaiting the new 2025 RAM 3.0 Turbo. There are 3 on order. One of them will be the HO version of the Turbo. Ford has not yet dropped the 5.0. Sadly RAM is dropping this beautiful V8. After hearing the Main Engineer at RAM he said emissions is placing a beating on them. That only means Ford at some point will follow. You can thank Cali for that one!
I’ve got a 6 speed ‘13 Ram 1500 with HD tow package. It’s a 5.7 Hemi. Looking at a new camper that’s 40’ and 8200 lbs. dry weight. Everyone has me convinced it will be fine, but here I am. Thought about putting air bags in the springs to pair with a 10k EZ hitch setup. Thoughts?
Hahaha I didn’t realize this was in Chilliwack until you pulled out and the planet fitness was right there. I lived in Chilliwack for 2 years and loved it. Deadly machine to!
A buddy of mine is trying to talk me into a can am. I’m leaning towards this one. What do you think? He mentioned can am has a metal skid plate and this one has plastic. It that true
I guess I’m not putting it in the back of the truck. Time to get a trailer also. Anyone know or have suggestions on the perfect enclosed trailer? Size I’m talking about. In the area I live a 50” would probably be better then a 60” but maybe I’m overthinking it. Is the 60 that much more stable? Better ground clearance also I assume
Brother!!! that looks awesome!!! I have a question for you, I have a 2022 Maverick Sport XMR, Do you think 33's on a 15" 4/3 offset wheel would fit without rubbing? I was think about going with the Terrabite 33x10R15 with a 4/3 offset.... what do ya think?? Thank buddy... your machine looks great!!
Are the differentials or the transmission any stronger than the xtp? The lower gearing isn’t just the better clutches? Also, are the xmrs higher or can you just stiffen the fox shocks on a xtp and clear the same size tire with a xtp as xmr? I just wonder if a xtp 1000 with snorkel and rad relocate puts me in the same boat as 850 xmr or if the xmr has stronger diffs to handle bigger tires
I’m going to get you to hit up my bud Jimmy on castlemotorsports or Dean on Jesiakmotorsports for that one. I’d rather you get the best answer as they are deepest into that now.
Great video!!! I really appreciate you taking time and your money for gas to give us a precise video.. I just brought a 2023 E torque and this video was a great video
I’m looking at the xtp or xmr both in 2up for the wife and kid that might come along from time to time. I would ride mainly trails but I don’t have a problem playing in the mud. Do you think the ride of the xmr would be smooth enough for the trail or should I opt for the xtp? Anyone can chime it
Trying to find the same answer and it’s driving me crazy, I’m between the XT and XMR. I can get an XMR at anytime but the dealership has no XT’s in stock. I really want to know how different the ride is between them on trails.
Well I ended up getting a xtp 850 max just because of my family. Sport mode is pretty fun I will say that. it makes a difference. It is plenty fast. I figure if I want to rip through all the mud I will do a rad locate (no big deal). It is smooth enough. I rocked the xmr on the show room and it was pretty stiff.( I did a test ride on an xmr a while back and it was stiffer. I don’t think they even list the wheel travel on them lol ) I went xtp for the 4wd lock for crawling over the rocks and logs when needed. It’s a beast. I may add some 28 inch tires some time that’s as big as I would ever need for a do it all machine for myself
@@jzenone thanks for the reply! I figured the Xmr would be noticeably stiffer. I’ll probably go with the XT just gonna suck having to wait probably a month or more for one to come in and not having the 4 lock. Or I’ll get the Xmr and change out the shocks for something smoother with more travel. One more question if you don’t mind, did you try the normal non-max models? Do you think there’d be enough room for a small passenger lol? Really don’t wanna pay more for a max model if I absolutely don’t have to hahaha
@@Veno1999there is room for a small passenger. But I will say I do like the max and the longer frame is more stable going up and down hills. It does not feel tippy. That is a big plus. On the max I have crammed my 4 kids on with me lol. I would not ride all day like that but around the yard was ok. I can definitely fit the wife and a child in the middle fine.
I need to get more information about that power loss I have a build I’m doing and same thing happens exact same thing soon as I go into the water it losses power
Just got my '22 GT. Traded in my '17 GMC 1500 Denali. I am impressed with ride and it being so quiet on the highway despite the exhaust. Didn't get the adaptive cruise or the 360 cams. The PANO would've been a nice touch i am not complaining at all. Happy camper over here.
I have the same toy hauler only I have fiberglass sides and my max loaded weight is about 9400lbs with everything full water, fuel and cargo. Just around 8700lbs with some water to travel with and average load. tow with a 1/2 ton ram with 4 corner air suspension and it does okish but I wish I had 3/4 ton and will upgrade soon now that the market is coming back to somewhat normal. I was just ready to buy when things went nuts. If you back in the side x side it puts the motor weight closer to the trailer axles and off the rear gives you less sway by far. I do agree 7500lbs is about all you want with 1/2 ton for safety and an enjoyable trip. BTW. E-torque only helps the first little bit from stop and does nothing after that. The ram has plenty of torque and low 1st and 2nd gears to do the job. My opinion is its a big waste of money and future maintenance cost.
I would pick the Turbo R again. Only reason I would pick pro R is if I was putting thousands into making it way way faster which I wouldn’t care to do. The turbo r is made very closely but I like the Turbo part and rides amazing, bit shorter I noticed fair bit drove more nimble. Lighter overall. For a guy like me I ride bit of everything. I like turbo R best. If I was maybe dunes dessert only then that would make me wanna jam for all the hp but I’m not. Hope that explains what I’m trying to lol
I had the 2022 3500 with 6.4 did same route same hill. Did better yes. Working it’s butt off though. The long hills would catch up to it and the down grades were horrible to control in. But I’m used to diesels mostly which make this look like nothing. Maybe older 6.4 worked different.
@@davidmears1705 only engine that may be better is the 7.3 ford gasser. 6.4 is still a great torquey motor and you can deactivate the mds system that everyone hates so much.
