Rip Saint Rip Jimmy both legends they will never be replaced probably the funniest football show ever and the original that others followed and Rip Peter Brackley the spitting image puppet of greavsie was awesome and hilarious ❤
Contrast this to Lineker and his nauseating 'Activism' on MOTD. Sadly we'll never see another Saint N Greavesie. I'm just glad I got to enjoy it as a kid before the world went nuts....
I thought these clips having a go at Greavsie's presenting were maybe intended to tribute him, were admittedly funny, but were maybe a bullying him a little bit. (I don't say this as a snowflake, as I really can't stand this "nobody must ever have any laughter and always respect everyone's over-sensitive boundaries" nonsense of today. Simply they went a bit too far in this sequence.) A legend, and all round good man, in Greavsie didn't deserve to be mocked in this manner, and kudos for him in going along with it in the PFTF section - which incidentally was one of their weaker ones.
David Baddiel has also been slated for ‘blacking up’ as Jason Lee in one show (Notts Forest). Baddiel used to ridicule Jason Lee for having a hair style like a ‘pineapple on his head’ (Lee is black and his dreadlocks were stacked on his head). The pineapple on his head gag was not a one off but a running gag across one whole series. Yes, Baddiel and Skinner did overstep the mark and it was bullying.
I bet this is one of the episodes where the real Jimmy Greaves did not appear, the reason why he did not appear in the Christmas episode is because he's has a flu by being ill, but instead of cancelling the Christmas show, they even allow someone to replace the real Greaves, and that was the Spitting Image styled puppet of him that was played by a commentator Peter Brackley to replace.
Adrian McArdle I think I know the one you mean? Never come across it again though. Was on Fantasy Football again, they showed some sort of clip and then cut to some old Jimmy footage casually sat back saying “They look like a couple of poofs to me.” Unless you are thinking of the chant about the referee in the purple kit?
