So after I filled my DS160, found out that one of my maternal uncle resides in the US. But as you said in the second case like if you don’t really know anything about them or have no contact with them, there is no reason of mentioning them on the form. So my question is: how would I answer the question if I’m asked if I have any relatives in the US? Should I tell them yes I do or don’t? As if I do happen to tell them, they would ask me why I lied on the ds160, due to this I’m quite worried.

Is it easy to get job after graduating in usa as an international student?
@patriekkarayil4210
@patriekkarayil4210 3 месяца назад
While it is relatively easier to get a job during the OPT period (upto 3 years after graduation), frankly it is difficult to find an employer who would be willing to file for employment sponsorship (H1-B visa). In fact short of large companies, most employers will ask this question (whether or not the candidate will need sponsorship) during the resume submission stage (online questionnaire) and will automatically weed out such candidates.

Hey.! 2 of My brother are on h1b visa status.. and i have been to US twice.. once for 4 months and again for 5 and half months.. now i am back to my home country and trying for an f1 visa.. so does my visit to Usa and by brothers on h1b effect my visa acceptance?
@AmericanColleges
@AmericanColleges 5 месяцев назад
@sarawaheed6985, The fact you have been to the U.S twice and have gone back home is an excellent proof that you won't stay back in the U.S without proper status, and you are likely not an 'intending immigrant'. However both of your visits are quite long, which means the visa officer will presume that you likely stayed with family/sibling. This will likely be viewed against you. Because this indicates that you have the familial support to stay back in the U.S. after graduation. To avoid any misunderstanding by the visa officer, consider selecting a university far away from your sibling, different state.
@sarawaheed6985
@sarawaheed6985 5 месяцев назад
What is someone has siblings on h1b In the US and now they try for f1..? Does it complicate things? My clear intent is to go study for masters and come back..
@AmericanColleges
@AmericanColleges 5 месяцев назад
This circumstance is a bit better than if the sibling is on a greencard. However the fact that the sibling is on an H1, will give the visa officer some pause because it shows that the visa applicant could follow the siblings footsteps and change status from F1 to H1 down the line (even though this is fully legal). So my advice for the you would be to use the fact that your sibling is working in the US to your advantage - show without a shadow of doubt that you will come back especially because your sibling is no longer back in home country.

It SHOULD be hard to get a medical license. Doctors are entrusted with people's lives.
@AmericanColleges

@collinsje5, while I agree, in many countries (even in the UK), one can pursue medicine right after high school and save 4 years! The med school is 5 years however over there.

However, most of the barriers here don't have much to do with aptitude. Instead, it's just needlessly excessive and expensive to artificially reduce the numbers. While this system does select a smaller number of doctors, it doesn't necessarily select the best group

Are these salaries for entry level position ?
@AmericanColleges

Yes that is a safe assumption. It an average salary for students after graduation. Some students may have prior work experience and therefore make get a staff level position, but they would be the minority. The salary is also adjusted for location discrepancy.

So people should go to medical school in a third world country where it takes less time? Nah I rather go to a doctor that has years of knowledge n training to treat me n not some guy who only had to do a few years of college to be called doctor. Thank you though, cause next time I go to a doctor I’ll make sure they have a degree from America n not a third world country. I like being alive n having a doctor who actually knows what their talking about.

@Watchoutho, in most countries, even in developed nations like the U.K - an individual can go to medical school right after high school! However medical school is typically 5 years.

@AmericanColleges
@AmericanColleges 7 месяцев назад
@mitsuya6860 Absolutely, your age is not a factor.I would recommend gain some hands-on experience with through volunteering or working in veterinary settings before applying to Vet Medicine universities. Take the GRE/MCAT. Apply to veterinary schools through the VMCAS. Complete the four-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program. Pass the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) for the vet license. If you are seeking a specialization, then you would need a residency program.

Can the EB1-NIW visa be a good alternative if the student don’t get selected on the H1B lottery ?
@AmericanColleges
@AmericanColleges 7 месяцев назад
@fifamacedomelo8734, The EB1-NIW category will directly give the greencard. So if you think you are eligible for this, my recommendation is not to waste time on the H1-B. Because the H1-B to Greencard will take 5+ year for most nationalities (13 years for Indian citizens).

Is pre-req courses are given by the school as the students needed when changing the field of study before starting the Master Degree?
@AmericanColleges

This is difficult without knowing career aspirations. English is a versatile major. If you have an inclinations towards data - I would suggest doing a STEM designated degree in data analysis or information system, or even a STEM designated MBA. There is a lot of demand in data analysis and the STEM designation will give you upto three year work authorization after you finish your degree

@AmericanColleges
@AmericanColleges 9 месяцев назад
You can switch, however the university will prescribe a set of numerous pre-requisite courses such as Anatomy, Microbiology, Nutrition, Emergency Care, Psychology, Pharmacology etc and more. You will have to take all these courses before you start the masters program. This will take time (over a year, sometimes more). However I would recommend that you explore universities offer accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs that are designed for students who already have a bachelor's degree! This will be roughly a year to 1.5 years max. Hope this help -Patriek
